Note To Republican Office Holders...Don't Take On Rush

Conservatives are pretty pissed right now so it's probably not the time for elected Republicans to talk shit about the most high profile conservative around. Just ask Georgia Congressman Phil Gingrey.

Yesterday Gingrey said Rush wasn't all of that. Today, Gingrey called into Limbaugh to apologize.

"I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservatives - that was not my intent."

..."Everyday, millions and millions of Americans - myself included - turn on their radios and televisions to listen to what [Limbaugh and other conservative radio hosts] have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination," said Gingrey.

"At the end of the day, every member of the conservative movement, from our political commentators and thinkers to our elected officials, share an important and common purpose in advancing the cause of liberty, reigning in a bloated federal government and defending our traditional family values."

Naturally, Rush was gracious in accepting Gingrey's apology.

Right now on Rush...noted conservative and Jew (but mostly Jew) Eric Cantor is on talking 'stimulus'.

*Just to be clear, those Gingrey quotes are from a written statement his office released but he was on with Limbaugh earlier today and basically covered the same ground.

4 Look, we have to be realistic... we can't serve the people without making mature accomodations with our new, hopeful President, the first one of color. It's so historic... Why can't these voices of hatred from conservative backwaters let us do our jobs?

Have you seen my golf clubs?

Gingrey got a bad rap. He's one of few conservatives left. He currently occupies a seat in Cobb County, GA which happens to be one of the richest, best run counties, and MOST CONSERVATIVE counties not just in Georgia, but in the entire United States. Again - one of the best run. Triple A credit rating.Cobb supplies its own retirement and insurance. A very independent place. While surrounding counties Fulton (Atlanta), Gwinnett, and Dekalb have debts in the tens of millions each, Cobb County actually finished in the black with a surplus of half-a-million dollars. No layoffs, no firings, but a surplus. Gingrey is a one of the reasons why.

12 Well, I have to say, Gingrey sounded like he was running for his life in the face of the Tennessee or Baltimore pass rush...

So we had an ice storm here in D/FW that's shut down the schools for the past two days. Glad I've got a sec to catch  up on things...

My comment to the 'Steele for RNC Chair' movement was simple: not one dime until the RINO's are gone. Period. I've had it with these douche bags. I'd way rather support a conservative and vocal minority in Congress than these butt biscuits who just give away the store every chance they get.

And please, yes, go after Rush. I love watching the blood flowing in the gutters every time some punk in Congress takes a swing at The Great One.

18 Given the mistakes Politico made reporting this story originally, and considering the background of Gingrey, I suspect some serious sodomizing of context on the part of Jonathan Martin. Politico is no more to be trusted than The New Republic. The new media as well as the MSM is out to spin everything to Obastard's benefit... and I mean everything.

21 I heard Cantor on CNBC yesterday morning, and it was a pleasure to hear someone criticize the Obama juggernaut. He is articulate, didn't pull any punches, but didn't come off as a crank or shrill or angry.

But he's Jewish? Oh my! That just won't do.

22 16 I cannot recall in my lifetime the POTUS attacking 2 private citizens in one year, much less one. Posted by: Ben B. at January 28, 2009 01:51 PM (rs7M9) Bill Clinton went after both Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky early on during the Lewinsky scandal. His plan was to destroy Tripp with released FBI files and portray Lewinsky as a deranged stalker. And then the truth about the blue dress came out... Odd isn't it how the Left never gets upset about Leftists turning the full power of the government against individuals for domestic political profit isn't it?

24 #20 - Sorry, I don't agree. What folks will remember is Obama attacking a private citizen, who happens to a radio talk show host for more than 20 years (longer than Obama has been in politics) for airing his opinions and opposition. Besides, he did not say he wanted Obama to fail, he said he wanted Obama's policies to fail - there is a difference.

28 By the way, Rush mentioned today that he will now become the object of demonization, since Bush is gone. He is right, and #16 has it exactly right. Waffles doesn't play by the old rules. He will call out individual citizens; he need only give them a brief mention as "distractions" or "divisive." The MSM will take the order and carry it out with all the fervor they had in trashing Bush for the last eight years. Barry himself won't have to do much. He's more like an obese satrap that merely points at one of his subjects and frowns... the imperial guard and the sycophants do the rest.

I don't know if this will go over well with most of the people in the nation below Canada. But on the other hand, more than half voted for this crypto-fascist stumblefuck. Maybe people really do want to be led by the nose. By a callow, cunning Oedipus, no less.

29 I was very pleased at Cantor's comments on Rush's show a few minutes ago. I thought, 'yes!, somebody with some balls to actually speak some truth about this disasterous "stimulus" bill.' Cantor, get a giant silver platter, fill it to the top, pyramid style, full of balls and PASS IT AROUND the GOP dem-lites. Odumbo is playing everyone, and simpletons like Graham are puddy in his messianic hands. Pass the balls around! DeMint will help.

38 Making Rush the face of the GOP was a brilliant move for the Dems after he said he wanted the president to fail. That's all 90% of people will remember.

Sadly you may be right. However, there is a risk in this. If serving GOP politicians are successfully painted as Limbaugh clones, they may decide to vote like Limbaugh. Why? Because this would actually differentiate themselves from Democrats. The only thing that will revitalize Repugnicans is opposition. Until they sound like something other than Liberal Lite, I can't see how they can ever change anyone's mind.

Put another way, until the GOP actually makes the argument for liberty and severely limited government, they have no purpose. We have reached the stage where one can no longer say "we just don't want to spend as much." With the sums of Federal funny money being proposed, anyone with an open mind has to wonder "Why not 5 trillion? Why not 10?" We've heard "conservatives" like Kudlow argue strenuously for the Bush bailout. I want to know why Bush's $850 billion was some magic number for Kudlow, but $1.5 trillion is too much. The first bailout hasn't solved anything clearly. Why should another? Why not $15 trillion? What are the arguments for and against command economies?

Make the argument, GOP. Until you do, you will be irrelevant.

So, I went on over to the DCCC website and I signed the petition.  My message to Rush was keep fighting the good fight and I am behind him all the way.  Then I went to the part of the website where you ask questions and I asked them why they feared Rush and why they would expect a conservative to want Barry to succeed at turning the country into a place I wouldn't recognize.  I'm not really expecting any answers to my questions, but it was nice to vent a bit.

Best part, I never listen to Limbaugh.  He gives me gas.  But I know damn well he irritates them worse than the does me.

The LAST thing Barry the O wants to happen is for the Repubics to take Rush's advice and start thinking, talking and acting like true conservatives....because true conservative ideas actually WORK in the real world!
