I Don't Know How to Succinctly Headline This, But Let's Just Say Paul Krugman is a Lying Asshole

He attacks critics of Obama's stimulus plan by supposedly phonying up the "stimulus" cost per job created (or "preserved").

Krugman now:

First, there’s the bogus talking point that the Obama plan will cost $275,000 per job created. Why is it bogus? Because it involves taking the cost of a plan that will extend over several years, creating millions of jobs each year, and dividing it by the jobs created in just one of those years.

Note the multiyear cost of the "stimulus" being compared to the single-year (purported) benefit of the stimulus.

Krugman then:

he average American worker earns only about $40,000 per year; why does the administration, even on its own estimates, need to offer $500,000 in tax cuts for each job created?

Krugman himself did the same tricksy math-- taking the ten-year cost of Bush's budget/tax package -- and comparing it to the one year salary of a job.

And then he even went on to defend his bullshit, claiming that a job created by a stimulus package wouldn't be around for longer than a year (or three) so why bother taking the multiyear benefit into effect?

Notice he seems to have abandoned that rationale, and assumes that Obamajobs will last forever.

5 Even in *workers' paradises* like the Obamunists admire the governments run out of money to pay their workers, which is everyone. These fools, like Shrugman, count, correctly, on the public school educated masses not to know history, social studies, civics, math or just basic logic. I doubt that Shrugman, and all of these other cultists following our Kenyan piper, are outright lying. They are New Agers, who believe in the power of visualization, and that each of us are gods, who can imagine our reality and make it so by the power of desire. If they realized what a literal HELL their foolishness shall visit upon ALL of us, them too, they would be re-thinking this rubish.

If Paul Krugman is such a fucking economic genius, why didn't he warn his employer, the NYT, of their impending bankruptcy?

Posted by: Darling at January 26, 2009 03:47 PM (OOjmf)

7 I'm not a Nobel Lauerate in Economics like Paul Krugman and Josiah Bartlett, but if The Obama Plan will create, as Krugman says, "millions of jobs per year", that means that Obama's Plan should create at least 8,000,000 jobs during his first term.

Right?

Though, admittedly, if we pass the Comprehensive Piece of Shit legislation, then - BAMMO - 8,000,000 jobs will move from the unaccounted for "illegal" side to the countable "legal" side.

Legalize prostitution, another 1,350,000 "jobs" get created.

Add licensing and registration to "hobo hunting" and Obama would have another 10-17 jobs.

No need to worry! Barry will save us all! He'll dole the money out to us himself.

Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama's administration will direct more of the second half of a $700 billion financial rescue plan to open up credit for consumers and businesses and stem home foreclosures, his spokesman said.

The president will use the second $350 billion outlay from the Troubled Asset Relief Program differently than the Bush administration did, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said.

The president has asked his economic advisers for recommendations “specifically addressing home foreclosures; addressing financial stability in banks,” Gibbs said in today’s regular White House news briefing. He refused to give details.

And PLEASE, no more distractions for the Unicorn King!

“We owe it to each of them and to every single American to act with a sense of urgency and common purpose,” he said at the White House. “We can’t afford distractions, and we cannot afford delays.”

Krugman hangs himself with his own math by assuming the jobs will always exist, and further tightens the noose by even arguing about it, because it puts the stimulus in the perspective of having to be paid back only by the taxes generated by those jobs themselves, a payback that in no way can be seen as intelligent.

I believe the current economic strategy consists of using terribly big numbers that most people will refuse to parse in any way and then doing math with said big numbers in mind numbing story problem form causing the general public to tune out and nod their heads in agreement in the hopes that no one catches on that they don't know anything about math.

Is there anyone other than a liberal who listens to Krugman?  The liberals will believe anyone that feeds their egos and speaks what they want to hear and doesn't make waves.

Krugman is an economic moron and a political hack.  The democratic party could say that water is in fact dry and he would twist what ever fact and science necessary to make it sound realistic. He probably advises the NY Times and that is why they are going down the tubes.
