| Obama Offers Advice To Republicans...Rush Limbaugh Ain't All ThatAnd on the 3rd Day He picked a fight with the country's most visible conservative. President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration. "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package. One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.Ah yes, the great cry of bipartisanship. Allow me to translate that bit of revelation for you..give up your principles and do what the Democrats want and you will be hailed as a great exemplar of bipartisanship (Hello? Senator McCain, is that you?). Stick to your guns and fight for what you believe in? Well, you are just a divisive loud mouth like Limbaugh. Of course Rush isn't going to let this gift go by with comment. There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this. There's more from Limbaugh at the link, including a shout out to Obama's cribbing from the Alinksy playbook. ![]() Comments1
Obama must be pretty afeared of ol' Rush.

Rush was Clinton's most effective critic. Bambi's people, many of whom were Clinton's people, of course, know this. They are trying to take the offensive. It won't work, this is what Rush does, and he is damn good at it.

I've been working on that $825 billion plus monstrosity over at my blog site; I'm just through "Agriculture" now, and I found one very curious thing, right near the beginning:
Link "SEC. 1109. PROHIBITED USES. None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available in this Act may be used for any casino or other gambling establishment, aquarium, zoo, golf course, or swimming pool." A trillion dollar giveaway, but nobody gets a swimming pool? Why? Don't unicorns get hot? I guess, when Obama said he'd cut off programs that don't work, we now know what he meant: Casinos, aquaria, zoos, golf courses and swimming pools. Funny thing is, back in my home town, about the only government things that DID work were the municipal swimming pool and the city golf course. Obama went on to say, "Those 48% of Americans who voted against me? Forget them. Your party's base? Fuck them, too. This is a new era, are you fuckfaces down with that? You guys got punked last November, now you gotta do what I say. You're either with me or against America. Kapeesh?" Posted by: Darling at January 24, 2009 04:39 PM (0jWrh) 8

We'll see what happens when Obama the Hellfire Hunter gets Limbaugh pulled from AFN radio. The symbolism alone will further antagonize the commander in chief from his forces. If there are any forces to oppose Obama, it appears that it's not the Republican Party--it's the military.
And only a 68% approval rating after the benediction, praise, and worship....he should be at triple figures. This fucker's lost already if he needs to pick a fight with a radio guy--speaks to his lack of discipline and lack of heart. And to all of the liberals who claim that Republicans bankrupted the country--I say, the US government should declare Chapter 11, reorganizing by shaving off large numbers of bureaucrats. Even better would be Chapter 7, where the government liquidates, renounces debt, and goes back to the shareholders (i.e, the 50% who actually pay taxes). This is what he always meant by unity, and what the Democrats and left always meant: give up what you believe in and move toward us while we insist we stay the same.
He's telling them that if they try to be conservative, they will be ignored. If they do anything distinctly Republican rather than Democrat, they won't be able to do anything. He's telling them that they have to step right and get in line. That's what change, unity, and healing means, to the left. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at January 24, 2009 05:01 PM (PQY7w) 37

The Republicans need to actually be the opposition party.
This stimulus package is being used as a grab bag for every liberal idea of the last 20 years. The Democrats have decided that no emergency should be wasted. Fine. Two can play that game. This recession, and the Democrats response to it, should be a godsend to Republican fiscal conservatives (hoping that some do still exist) and we should let it pass unexploited. Lets use the emergency to get what we have wanted. We, and they, should keep stressing the point that we are going to have a $1,000,000,000,000.00 budget deficit, even before the stimulus. Any expenditure that can be avoided needs to be eliminated. Just Zero It Out. Family planning money for foreigners? Don't argue about whether it pays for abortions. We don't have the money, it doesn't help our citizens, and it doesn't help our foreign policy goals. Zero it out. NEA grants? Art is fine but WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. Don't argue about whether the art is offensive, Zero It Out. Government programs that haven't worked (and I'm looking at you Department of Education)? Zero It Out. The possibilities are endless. Russia is assured of Obama's Georgia styled moral equivalence if they make a move on the Ukraine and the South Caucasus, Iran can use Barry's anti-Israel policies to rebuild Hamas and then activate them and Hezbollah, China can now move in confidence against Taiwan, and who knows with the other crises and their economic freefall South Korea might be a possibility for the North again. But it's alright, Barry will have his eye on the ball. He'll make sure the right can't critisize him or he'll throw a tantrum trying. We are surrounded by 'pod people'. These Obama adorers seemed to have checked their brains at the door. If you try to tell them any facts about Obama they scream 'Sarah Palin' at you like she is something offensive, which is another matter all together. The horrible treatment inflicted on Sarah Palin was nothing less then frightening. Even more so because so many conservative women really identified with her. When she was attacked, so were we all. But Obama hasn't hidden any of his plans. He PLANS to drive the US into the ground. He PLANS to form his 'Red Guard'. A civilian national security force that is just as powerful and well funded as the military. Indeed, he already has a form of a 'Red Guard'(ACORN) in Northern cities, where people are indeed bullied and harassed if they speak out against him. Children in northern states like NY, Illinois, NJ etc are taught to sing songs about him in their Classroom corp programs. In places like Massachusetts, if you try to opt your children out from Obama indoctrination or any of the other liberal programs, you will get a visit from DSS. American liberals openly admire the Chinese social and economic model and we are seeing law journals from Yale and NY university explore the possibilities of creating a one or two child policy/law in the US while they hold economic symposiums that discuss ways to follow the Chinese model. They are earnestly serious. The ground work has been laid for a totalitarian system the likes that the world has never seen before. First they must get rid of all those young patriotic young men in our military. A huge war in Pakistan and Afghanistan while defunding our troops will do that job. Not to mention, Obama is planning to set free some very dangerous characters, complete with ACLU lawyers waiting to defend their 'rights' as soon as GITMO is closed.
I really hope I am wrong. But today Obama made sure America will now become the biggest exporter of death in abortions and that poor women around the world must choose between food and aid for their children, or their future fertility. God help us all. Posted by: sickinmass at January 24, 2009 06:08 PM (/i4dU) 93

ignored. If they do anything distinctly Republican rather than
Democrat, they won't be able to do anything. He's telling them that
they have to step right and get in line.
That, my friend, is the very definition of Chicago machine politics. I've said this before, I'll say it again: Obama is elevating Chicago machine politics to a national level. You must understand: Obama's supposed left-wing ideology and its outcomes are not the ends to which he aspires, as so many here seem to think, they are the means to his ends. Which are, namely, power, and the consolidation thereof. Obama is not a left-wing ideologue. He uses and subscribes to to left-wing ideology as an instrument, a means, a tool to acquire, consolidate, hold onto, and exercise power. If you think otherwise, you are mistaken. He is bamboozling you and you don't even know it. Ideology is his smokescreen and so far most of you have been blinded by it. He's feinting with ideology and getting you to go for it and so far you're taking the bait. He's far more dangerous than a mere left-wing ideologue. If you think his reaction to media questions and criticisms shows weakness and a "glass jaw" or an inability to take the heat, you're missing the point. He's maneuvering you, and himself, into positions that will enable him to cut his opposition to pieces. His supporters will see his responses to media and to criticism as being indicative of his strength, independence, and willingness to throw punches--traits Bush, for example, never displayed and manifestly lacked. Dream on if you think he's going to wilt or that his reactions are signs of weakness. It's what Chicago machine politicians do, and it works. The problem with America is that we have lost our ability to discern between right and wrong. At some point SOMEONE must call "BS!" on what we've become. Do you think that everybody should be given a chance to prove himself good when his record of deceit is well documented? Do you think that we are all inherently good? Should we not impose some judgement upon our elected officials? Would you choose to stifle that right?
Jefferson said, "We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live.. We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers." We should pay homage to His Highness for providing us the majesty of the great men. Our forefathers were brilliant. Yes, they were brilliant and now all but forgotten. We have become savages. Boom times for Rush: "Please, please don't throw me in that briar patch."
Exactly. Rush is gonna see a 10% uptick in his ratings come Monday morning just because of this. He lost some listeners by being so in the tank for the GOP for years, I think they might start coming back now. And yeah, Steve, I think you're right. I think he's all about the power and not the ideology, and I think all these moves are to manipulate and control, not signs of weakness. How does anyone exactly think the press will respond when Obama throws a fit and demands they stop asking him questions, when he bans them from taking pictures and uses his own guys, when he doesn't put his press conference transcripts on the white house website like every president before him did with it? They won't get mad and burn him. They won't start getting tough. They'll do what he wants. The press has proved that fear and the need to defend the Democratic party and the left will lead them to previously unthinkable, inexcusable levels of obeisance and abandonment of principle. When he does this to the GOP, he's not scared of Rush Limbaugh. He's pressuring them to obey and get in line and they're so weak and worthless, they will. They aren't waiting for a weakness, they are spineless and most of them hate Rush Limbaugh to begin with. Jimmy Carter, for all his many faults at least had some integrity and honor in him, at least when he was President. This guy? I don't think there's anything he wouldn't do or say for power. Not a thing. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at January 24, 2009 06:50 PM (PQY7w) 117

I would love to see a court battle over the so-called Fairness Doctrine. There is a LOT more money in radio now than there ever was, and even media giants should know that money speaks louder than politics, especially when it comes to how much Rush can pull in. The fundamental problem I see in the FD is one of who decides what constitutes an alternative viewpoint? Rush is not a Republican broadcaster, he just is Rush. Many people disagree with him, but who would be the "equal time" representative? A liberal? And who decides what kind of liberal gets to do it? Wouldn't you just love to see them fighting amongst themselves over who wins that job? Ultimately, I predict any attempts at implementing the FD will fail. But it will be worth the price of popcorn to watch it do so.

Part of Barry's schtick is to insist that principled disagreement with him is 'tired, old partisanship' and the 'stale arguments of the past'. Everthing has all been decided in his favor, you see, and the debate is over. Why, there's really no need for a second party--or Congress or courts, for that matter. We have transcended the need for dissent--Glorious Leader will simply inform of his decisions. He's never had a real job before and now he has to produce. Rush has this little wesel pegged--he's bluffing his way through and we should call him on it. Posted by: Noel at January 24, 2009 07:03 PM (4gHqM) 120

Watching and listening to him speak I am struck by the sound of hollow words spoken by a hollow man to a hollow audience. He frames the key challenges of the age then proved the smallness of his measure by spouting uninspiring utopian liberal rhetoric, polyanish economic promises, empty threats and perverse admonishments. Vapid, his speak has made more eerie by the near utter silence at times of a million unresponsive people assembled, watching. Chamberlain promised a generation "peace in our time." Tens of millions died due to his naivety. We can but hope that economic ruin is the only consequence of Obama's and that patriots will once again respond to the call that is unquestionably coming. The greatness of this nation is the character of that minority who through their faith, courage and sacrifice risk life, limb, and property to lift us all by answering the call. Let us hope Mr. Obama one day soon understands that and answers himself. Every time I hear "President Obama" by stomach turns. I bet the "68% approval poll" today is cooked.Cockholster.

It would be interesting to see the Fairness Doctrine implemented.
Liberals don't want to debate anything because they really don't want
their ideology exposed to the light of day, it's why they traffic in
hate instead. So which one has the cajones and is willing to go toe to
toe with Rush on his show? Or Sean, or Levin?
Rush? Absolutely. He's the architect (not Karl Rove), and the gold standard. Levin? Brilliant, and scathingly scornful. Hannity? Um... not so much. Sean's a good guy, and his heart's in the right place, but he's, well... dumb. In all the years I've listen to him, I've never heard anything remotely insightful. I've switched to Michael Medved. Obama and the socialists are baring their teeth at us. $825+ BILLION on top of the $700 BILLION. $3 TRILLION budgets. And Obama's response to mealy mouthed objections was "I won." He won so he can stick his cock down my throat and your throat and pretty much any throat he feels like and there's not a fucking thing you and I have to say about it. It's going to happen and what I think, is meaningless and counterproductive to the task at hand - the transformation of this country into slow, lingering death European style socialism. We are so completely out of power that the entire Republican Caucus in the House could go home and get other jobs and the business of the House would continue unabated. The Senate is not quite that bad but all the Democrats need is for 2 of McCain-Collins-Snowe-Graham to go along and a fillibuster is impossible. Certainly the first part is accurate, but unfortunately, as long as the MSM has their lips planted firmly on Obie's ass, it's likely he will. Too easy to do: MSM just needs to preface every story with "President Obama inherited this problem from the Republicans," and repeat over and over. People who don't do any research--like Obie voters who didn't know which party controlled Congress, or who Obie's veep nominee was--are a shoo-in to believe whatever they hear from MSM. J.A. Leach @ 78: "military coup" Great image, but as a former military officer I can say with complete confidence that there's absolutely no way: unlike our asshole senators, representatives and former members of both, members of our armed forces take their oaths to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States" seriously. The only way they'd ever get involved is if some stupid naif, after getting impeached and removed from office, refused to go. In which case not a single member of our armed forces would lift a finger to defend him. Of course Obie may really be that convinced of his own infallibility. We'll see. sickinmass, Maybe the system set up by our founders was unstable. It depends on people being upright and virtuous, well educated, and determined to preserve their freedom. Our founders were all of these things, but subsequent generations are naturally less so, and once the system is changed, it starts to unravel.
There were also tensions built into the system at the start. It was only 71 years after the writing of the Constitution that we suffered a civil war, and had it gone differently, it would have ended the United States as we know it. We are not the same people as our founders. The generations that followed them made every single mistake they warned against and tried to prevent. They would consider us criminally insane for having allowed the country and our society to degenerate the way we have. They might be right. Posted by: lmg at January 24, 2009 07:46 PM (A/vgC) 137
I don't think that even the Fairness Doctrine would work against Rush. He's the consistent moneymaker for Talk Radio. Its the lesser conservative talents that would have to get axed to make room for the loss-leader liberal shows.
Moreover, this tactic can work in reverse against the Big Media, as there are reams of evidence to be found in unbalanced reporting by NBC, CBS, et al. The rules may require Rush to have a right to on-screen reply, just like the old days of news when broadcasts would require a one-minute "Commentary". Yeah, but the radio spectrum cannot be controlled by man. Worst case scenario, Rush could go shortwave. There isn't enough electricity on the planet to flood radio.

My turn to play. Steve (111) has very many good points, and a good assessment of the dangerousness an experienced Chicago politician. The problem is that there’s good evidence that Obama is not: Noel’s (119) last sentence reminds us: "He's never had a real job before and now he has to produce. Rush has this little weasel pegged--he's bluffing his way through and we should call him on it." Further, the real jobs he’s had seem highly dependent on someone else making the decisions and providing guidance. This won’t work with the Presidency, someone will blow the whistle soon. Obama seems much too secretive. Recall how Obama refused to play according to the rules during the election. Producing his original birth certificate and transcripts from Occidental would’ve ended much speculation; ditto for his Illinois legislature records. Where did his campaign financing come from? Are there enough small, individual donors in the US? Then there are Obama’s associates: dies Obama know anyone who is not under investigation or some sort of terrorist/racist/other whackjob? Obama fears the light of day; he simply has too many things to hide. Suppose Congress decides to stand up to the Bailout (write your Congressman and Senator: "wrong people being bailed-out", "this much pork; is this really a bailout?", etc.). What will Obama do? If Obama really tries to build his civilian corps (even privately funded), what will Congress do? Is he really able to handle losing? My guess is "no". Doubtless, Obama is trying to maneuver his opponents, but with enough continuous exposure he will have a hard time, and will lose more support than he gains. "Continuous exposure" is the key. Danske is right on target: Obama can tolerate absolutely zero criticism. His ugly, insecure method of governing will cost him dearly. Stupidity is its own reward, it seems. The Left is stupid if it thinks Obumbles the Clown President is really one of them, since he's just out for himself and they meet his ends for now...The Repubs are stupid to think that cooperation for them here is any better than it was for Jews identifying other Jews for the Gestapo...And the 52% who voted for this Chi-town Hustler prove that yes, you can fool a large part of the people all the time, and Obumbles has.
He is the quintessential Chicago Machine politician and this is just his way of doing the Chicago Drag. Unfortunately for him, and possibly a blessing for us who already hate him, is the fact that most of the rest of the country doesn't roll that way, and it will come to a halt sooner or later. The rest of the story is what happens after the wheels fall off and the shit hits the fan. Then, all bets are off. Will our military carry out martial law just because he said so? I'd dare say the well-paid Generals and such would, but the get-it-done rank and file would make a poor showing of it. They have families back in their home towns who would be getting the same ration of shit that the troops were handing out and that might make a military push-back inevitable. Either way, I spend the next two years in preparation and keep my head down. The shit will fly, has to, sooner or later. That's my view for now... Sandman. I put that on the AP thread without seeing that you'd beat me to it here. Dammit. The really awesome part of that bill: A Montana citizen whom the government of the United States attempts to prosecute, under the congressional power to regulate interstate commerce, for violation of a federal law concerning the manufacture, sale, transfer, or possession of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition manufactured and retained within Montana must be defended in full by the Montana attorney general. Let's also remember this, for those of you who think Obumbles has that thin, fragile an ego: He has been dragging his feet and fighting every step of the way on having his birth certificate, not COLB, shown, over having any of his school records,at any level, exposed to the light of day. This has been dragging on for months and just Thursday our erstwhile "Justices?" at the Supreme Court had a 'conference' with the Naked King about the numerous cases pending before the Court, about his citizenship statuas...and not a word, not a whiff has come out, one way or the other. Odd, that. And he has seemed none to bothered by public sentiment or the Courts. Hardly fragile to date, it seems...
Arrogant, but hardly fragile... So, does he have the goods, and he simply chooses not to expose them for his own reasons? Or does he have something that makes the Supremes take part in a cover-up to let him hold onto his usurped title to avoid the inevitable backlash that the unseating of the Papier Mache King would bring about? Are we already seeing the greatest act of political collusion in history getting under way even as we speak? That's what bothers me. The rest is just, politics as usual, really... The significance of Mr O's "advice" is that he is focusing on himself. I don't think he can stand the criticism. There must be a governor out there who could and would stand up and say no if things get out of hand. Can a governor not call up the militia? I have wanted to write the Governor (Barber) and tell he needs to consider pressing for a state militia bill for the guaranteed ownership of firearms by including all able bodied males (and females if they wish) are part of the state militia. If I had my way I would set aside tax money for the Swiss model of citizen militia. The state provides every able bodied male a firearm and trains them to use it in defense of their country. For the last eight year, thirty-two or more if we count the Regan Era, the rich have walked over, derided, and tried to end American-ism. In the GW Bush Era our Consitution was mangled and ripped apart to promot a Socialist agenda. American were denied a true debate by our elected officals. Our Vice President tried and did run a secret goverment outside of the bounds of his elected office as he and the President of the United States robbed our nation of its tresure and her people. What did Rush Limbauh say about these robber barons and thieves? What did he say when the First, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments were spat on by those who swore to defend the entire Consitution? What did he say when our former President allowed the man who ordered the attach on our shores to run free? What did he say when Bush rushed the Saudi royals from our country on Sept. 10th, the day after their mutal friend Osama bin Laden dared to attacked our country? Where was he just a few months ago when George W. Bush handed over the control of our soldiers to foreign nation? What did he say then? What did he say? What Rush Limbauh say when the voting rights of thousands Americans citizens were violated by Republicans who cannot stand to see free elections within the borders of the United States. Where was his outrage and demand for accountablity? Why is he not crying for the horrid living conditions of the people living the Applachian Mountians. For lost of our nations coastal cities in Gulf States. Why is he not crying treason against Carl Rove, Lewis Libby, Condoleezza Rice and Richard Cheney. Why hasn't demanded on the behalf of his audience a honest debate from all every elected official and demanded truth and not idiotic preachings about guns, homosexuals, and abortions? Where was he when Richard Cheney then Vice President of United States dismissed the lives of thousands of American soldiers with a cool and indifferent "So what?". What did he say when Mr. Cheney confessed to war crime that could see him hanged? What did he say when our former President, while still in that office blindly confessed to the same heinous crime? Where was Rush's outrage on our nation's behalf as our great nation's honour and dignity was be smirched by two soulless, un-patriotic, un-American fiends, criminals who dared to rise to highest offices within our land. Where was Rush Limbauh? In fact where were any of you? Mr. Obama is our nation's president. He's good man who came up in this world like many of us: A single parent home, educated by subsides, and trying to make it day to day. Mr. Limbauh does not like Mr. Obama for the same reasons as Mr. Chavez or Osama bin Laden. President Obama makes us believe in ourselves and the greater good of our nation. He told us that we are the leaders of destinies and the friend of brothers and sisters. He tells us that we can think for ourselves, talk to each other without condemning one other, but never forget that we are Americans. He told the world that we are proud people, strong, and fearless. We are bold and we are as unique as each rising of the sun. He said that he will lead us back to our promise land but he is not going to pave our way. He said that we had stand up and stand beside him, fight along side him, and believe in our country and know that we can suceed, that we will prevail because we all, We All, are Americans. To those of you crying on this website bemoaning the fate of our rich oppressors and their Socialist tactics, you should really revaulate your priorties and then ask yourself, were the last eight years really the Democratic Republic that James Madison penned as he wrote the final version of our dear Consition? Or were they the beginning of Socialist society with rights for the few and rest of us be damned? And if you still can't answer it, you pick up a little book called My Struggle by Adolf Hitler, it avaliable in English and makes a wonderful housewarming gift. It's one of Dick Cheney's personal favorites. Posted by: Sean at January 24, 2009 10:31 PM (OO90A) 175
ErikW, Remember this part of Red Dawn? Love the ATF and their forms. From "Red Dawn." As the protagonists flee the initial invasion of Calumet, they stop at a local sporting goods store owned by one of their fathers. He tells them to gather supplies and gives them several rifles and pistols along with boxes of ammunition (the father and his wife are later executed because of the guns missing from the store’s inventory). In a later scene, Colonel Bella, the Cuban officer, instructs the KGB to go to the local sporting goods store and obtain the paperwork of local citizens who own firearms. The Cuban officer specifically refers to Form 4473, which is the actual BATF form used to record the sale of a firearm by a dealer to a private citizen in the United States.Posted by: turtle at January 24, 2009 10:46 PM (sZPLX) 176

"Why is he not crying treason against Carl Rove, Lewis Libby, Condoleezza Rice and Richard Cheney." Examples? (no twoof) "Why hasn't demanded on the behalf of his audience a honest debate from all every elected official" Good idea. Let’s start by asking the MSM about the softball questions pitched to Obama. "Our Vice President tried and did run a secret goverment outside of the bounds of his elected office as he and the President of the United States robbed our nation of its tresure and her people." Examples? Obama received (how much?) funding from. . . , and won’t say who. "Mr. Obama is our nation's president. He's good man who came up in this world like many of us: the Chicago Way. Both got into Harvard (how? not grades). . . He got his house (how?). . . His wife got a 192% pay raise at her job (job now deleted since she quit) . . . " "President Obama makes us believe in ourselves and the greater good of our nation. He told us that we are the leaders of destinies and the friend of brothers and sisters. Obama is not fragile. He's very resilient, extraordinarily cunning, and, perhaps most significantly, an extremely adept opportunist. And he's absolutely ruthless and single-minded in the pursuit of his ambitions. His whole life has been about the furtherance of his ambitions, about fulfilling his will to power. Do you think he actually bought into the racist drivel promulgated by that lunatic Rev. Wright? I don't. Wright and his church were tools for Obama to establish a power base on Chicago's South Side. That's how ruthless he is: he would use a putatively Christian church where violently hateful views are voiced by its pastor, all to advance himself. He's MacBeth without the sort of fatal character flaws that led to MacBeth's destruction. Some think that he will eventually make a mistake that will bring about his downfall. But that's where Chicago machine politics and the system thus created come into play. What the machine does, once it's up and running, is render those who run invulnerable, even to the consequences of their own mistakes. That's the terrible, evil beauty of the Chicago machine. You can make one mistake after another, screw up in a dozen different ways, but you'll get through it all because the machine has destroyed the opposition or rendered it impotent: because the machine has too much power, too much control. Of course Obama is going to make mistakes. He's going to be a disaster. But the machine he's creating will insulate him, protect him. Some say that he's using Saul Alinsky's book as his guide. Machiavelli's "The Prince" is more like it. He would have felt himself quite at home in the court of the Borgia brothers. In fact I think he would have had the Borgias for lunch. They would have been no match for him. Do not underestimate this man. Be afraid of him. Be very afraid. Posted by: Steve (aka Ed Snate) at January 24, 2009 11:06 PM (oKizX) 180

Incidentally, I also think Obama is going to turn the extreme left into his laptop--perhaps crush it and reshape it in his image. In this regard, Kos and his ilk remind me of Trotsky. I think their fate will be figuratively similar to Trotsky's. I don't think Obama will tolerate enemies, or even dissenters, to his left any more than he will tolerate opposition on his right. Remember, in Orwell's 1984, the government was not "left" in the sense that it was shaped by a leftist ideology: it merely used leftist ideology, and leftist strategies and tactics, to gain and maintain power. Big Brother was a mythic figure, the personificaton of that power--the cult of personality institutionalized forever in the same enduring image. But in Obama's America, Big Brother won't be a myth: he will be Obama himself. Also not incidentally, and to carry the 1984 metaphor further and tie it in with Chicago machine politics, Richie Daley always makes me think of O'Brien. There was no Big Brother: only O'Brien and the others who formed Oceania's nomenklatura. What's scary about Obama is that he is both O'Brien and Big Brother. He is his own nomenklatura. I predict that Obama will slap down the extreme left and that Republicans, being congenitally stupid and shortsighted, will cheer him on as if he's doing them a favor, never realizing that in slapping down the left he's accruing more power; and then Obama will turn on them and smash the GOP to bits. Frankly, I think Obama has now undermined the ability of any defense of a possible return of the "Fairness Doctrine". By going after Rush Limbaugh, Obama has now focused with specificity a "laser beam" on Rush Limbaugh.
I seem to recall a tiff starting in 1988 involving the Boston Herald, then owned by R Murdoch, being critical of Sen. Kennedy and the Kennedy slipping an amendment into legislation to force the sale of Murdoch holdings including a Boston TV station and the New York Post. Kennedy had bragged that this was a hit job on Murdoch and eventually the SCOTUS agreed, striking down the amendment because it targeted an individual with the specificity a "laser beam", a practice specially prohibited by the US Constitution. Obama's signaling of personal attacks on Limbaugh will provide plenty of room to use the same defense against any legislation involving the reinstatement of the "Fairness Doctrine" as a method of pushing Limbaugh off the air. Obama should have said my followers are such blind, stupid sheep that would allow me to shit down their throats if I want to. And I just want everyone else to be like that. So stop listening to Rush and obey me. Posted by: TheQuietMan at January 25, 2009 11:14 AM (B13XT) 199
Some say that he's using Saul Alinsky's book as his guide. Machiavelli's "The Prince" is more like it.
I would argue Rules for Radicals is The Prince for leftists. It is the same attitude toward morality, power, and your foes, it just has been directed toward how to gain power on the left. And those same people who were so heartless, ambitious, and judgmental, the same people who burned witches, ran the Church and tried to kill Galileo, and were in charge of the inquisition are on the left now. That attitude toward humanity, power, ideology, and those who disagree didn't go away, it just shifted to the left. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at January 25, 2009 12:02 PM (PQY7w) 200
I don't buy into Teh Obamessiah being a political boss/genius from now on. The over-hyped county hack has just made himself an A-1 political target. Calling Rush out is stupid, politically speaking. One more time to all Beltway flacks, El Rushbo is NOT a politician, he is NOT a part of the Republican party organization, he IS a paid opinionist with great researchers, a devestating wit, and the ability to take his target du jour to the woodshed 14 hours a week. (Open line Friday can always mention something not Teh Obamessiah for a change.
If The Anointed One and his people can't take the heat, they should have stayed out of the kitchen, period. Especially the lukewarm heat tossed their way, where Dubya faced scalding steam on a weekly basis. (I will never forgive the MSM for deliberately & overtly setting up a president to fail with a shooting war in progress. Bitches all of 'em.) If the Fairness Doctrine is gonna get trotted out for this kind of thing, it will be time to throw the bums out. We don't need any Fidels or Hugos here. Period. The over-hyped county hack has just made himself an A-1 political target. Calling Rush out is stupid, politically speaking. As if Limbo wasn't going to be attacking Obama every show, all of the show, anyways. The only way to deal with Limbo is to point out what a clown, asshole, and fuck-up he is. Posted by: icus at January 25, 2009 01:12 PM (Ozf6a) 202
#194 Icus Why is it that we know more about Rush's medical history and proclivities than we do about Barry-HO's? Rush is a private citizen who has never run for office, Barry-HO may or may not be a citizen, who holds the Presidency. Why is that, dip shit? The sad thing about all this is the mantra of bi partisanship the GOP falls for. President 666 is full of it. Worse is how many GOP members will work with 666-McCain, Snowe, Spectre.
Time for a revolution.
Anyone notice Obamie wants to triple the earned income tax credit, or the government is going to givce even more money to people who do not pay taxes? Worse the idiots at the GOP proposed cutting the lowest two tax brackets while leaving the middle class to spin?
Time for a revolution. Is there nothing these people cannot justify under the Constitution? Posted by: Thomas Jackson at January 25, 2009 03:57 PM (0Qynq) 205
Wow. Wonder if someone has shown Obambi Rush's response yet.
Not only did Limbaugh immediately sniff out Obambi's strategy in interjecting Rush into the discussion with the G.O.P., he singled out WHICH EXACT ALINSKY RULES FOR RADICALS OBAMA LEARNED THIS TACTIC FROM. I wonder how many times in the next 4 years is Obama gonna try to pick a fight over Rush, then tell himself Limbaugh just 'got lucky' in his response? Posted by: manofaiki at January 25, 2009 04:29 PM (uSh7j) 206
Uhm, just a thought, maybe somebody who's more 'up' on this and better read in the law and the Fairness Doctrine can answer this, but......
Doesn't the Fairness Doctrine only apply to the radio? Does the Left really expect to include TV and the Internet as well? That would never work. And if they can't include TV and the Internet under the scope of the Fairness Doctrine, didn't Rush once have a highly successful TV show? Doesn't he presently stream much of his current radio program over the Internet? That means anyone with an internet connection can listen to him if they want to. At worst, Rush has to get a liberal 'co-host', which would mean he would have a liberal right there to roast unmercifully for 3 hours every week day. Who's gonna volunteer for that job? Posted by: manofaiki at January 25, 2009 04:36 PM (uSh7j) 207
It must really get Icus' goat that a clown, a fuckup and an asshole makes 30x more money than Obama.
And probably 1,000,000x more than him. Posted by: manofaiki at January 25, 2009 04:39 PM (uSh7j) 208
O doesn't give anything up because he doesn't have to (IOW's, he hasn't been forced to). I think that O has spent years constructing a mirage and some of those item might just poke a few holes (or at least raise a few questions) about who he really is. I doubt that there's any collusion going on - O just know that he has the law on his side and not enough have made an issue of it. I do, however, think that this is key to O's MO going forward wrt things (or questions) that he thinks shouldn't be asked - he'll just tell us all to stick it. 124 Ombudsman, I agree whole heartedly about your talk show picks but intelectual ain't for everybody. Shawn has an audience and speaks for conservatives. Don't dis him because we need every dog we got in this fight, incuding the junkyard dogs. Wish I could buy stock in Rush right now because his value is going up. If I was Rush I would be sending Barry roses. Lets see, Barry 24 hours of ass kissing and clips from the press and Rush has 3 hours a day 5 days a week to tear this guy a new squeekhole. My moneys on Rush. Rush, I'd invest a few bucks more in security. I don't trust the can't we just get along lefties. Watch your back my friend. Posted by: Dan at January 25, 2009 11:36 PM (ygjiI) 211
One more thought. I hope the MSM keeps praising and glorifying Barry. Please, keep it up. I like ice cream but if I ate it for breakfast, lunch , dinner and snacks I'd get sick of it. I think every half-assed normal person will get sick of the Obama-thon. They are fucking up. MSM, keep up the good work, Assholes. Only the hard left will be able to sit at his feet and say ommmm. He's like heroin for them and we all know how good heroin is for people.

nike air max , replica watches , michael jordan shoes , nike dunk , nike shoes , brand bags , sheepskin boots , This is, of course, exactly what Clinton did in his first term: promised tax cuts for the middle class and raised them on everyone. The ad practically writes itself. Just show clips of Obama promising a tax cut for 95% of Americans - shouldn't be too hard to find since he repeated that claim lie every day. After playing a few of those clips, toss a few quotes from Peter Orszag onto the screen, and maybe include some of Obama's fumbling at the news conference about how "we already had [the tax cut] in the recovery."
