| Overnight ThreadAs I usually forget about these and Genghis aka Jenjhis always remembers, I've asked him to step in as the official Overnight Editor for overnight threads. I'll ask if he's cool with giving his email out in case you have a tip or suggestion, or want to open blog an overnight thread yourself. I'm sure he doesn't feel like doing it every night. So, welcome to Jenjhis. Here's a topic. What the hell is wrong with Dianne Sawyer? And here's another one: What the hell is wrong with the NFL? And: What the hell is wrong with Barack Obama? Bonus: Superman co-creator Joe Schuster had some odd jobs along the way. One of them -- illustrating sex/fetish comics. Oh, he goes there. He goes there. Lifted from David Thompson's always-interesting compilation of odd-ends from around the internet. Check out the tilt-shift photography link there especially.Comments1
That would be that Diane Sawyer is cookoo for Barack-o-Puffs.
In all fairness, I sounded that drunk on election night. And inaguaration night. And probably will for quite a few nights in the next 4 years. Obama is the best thing that ever happened to Budweiser. ...So I was in the store tonight- an African-American woman cut in front of a white dude at the checkout line (I'm pretty confident that that's the way it happened, anyway. I'd seen the dude when I'd first gotten in my line, hadn't noticed the woman). The woman's friend showed with a cartful of things. The dude protested. The woman's reply: "Well, Barack Obama won!"
I got out of there a couple minutes later, security had shown up by the time I left. ...Not much more I can add to that. Posted by: stanthecaddy17 at January 23, 2009 01:31 AM (UKELC) 4

Hate to double post, but missed the first two. The NFL is, if this gets out, making a grave mistake. I thought the same thing when they spent the halftime show for the late game Sunday with Katie Couric blathering on about The One. What the f*@k is KATIE COURIC doing on an NFL broadcast ?!
And as for Our Beloved Messiah snubbing the troops. I can't get worked up over that. Who among us would expect him to do anything else ? But yes- spread that information far and wide. Re: The (possible) D-bags at the NFL, I sent them this message: I’m sure that I am not the first to send this comment, but I just heard that you (the NFL) will not be allowing our military color guard to watch this year’s Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. I have been debating whether or not to watch the game this year because it is on NBC and I absolutely despise Keith Olbermann, and I think this completely stupid decision (assuming this is true) to not allow my fellow servicemen to watch the game has made my debate much easier. I guess I will just watch some UFC or hockey instead. I would respectfully ask that you rectify this situation (again, if true) immediately, and allow my fellow servicemen to watch the game after presenting our nation’s colors. BARACK OBAMA IS A WAR CRIMINAL
Okay, not in my book. But in the left's book. And we can't let them forget that. -Let's leave torture and other forms of coercive interrogation out of this. Let's assume that Obama has banned those practices. -Interrogations aside, the left has constantly told us that merely holding prisoners in Gitmo, in little chain-link pens, isolated from each other, is a war crime. -Obama has signed an executive order that will close Gitmo within a year, but does nothing to change the basic conditions there. -Obama is therefore continuing the Bush's administration's basic practices at Gitmo -Obama could, if he wanted to, immediately order that these detainees be put up in swanky housing, or at least held under conditions that would fall within the letter of the Geneva Conventions. -Obama, therefore, is operating in violation of the Geneva Conventions, and thus is a WAR CRIMINAL. I can thank Obama and his adoring fans this election season for one thing: saving me from horrible tv shows. Because I'm so fed up with anti-repub/conservative bias on fictions shows, I just delete them from my DVR instead of wasting a full hour or more hoping they'll.... change.
Case in point: The Lie to Me premiere episode. I got through the first five minutes until they took potshots at Vice President Cheney and President Bush. Posted by: soulpile at January 23, 2009 02:23 AM (Difyf) 22

I am with you on that, Harry. But they'll just go get some ROTC group (we still have ROTC, right ?) and make that into some grand gesture about "the children".
Here's my real question with the NFL thing.... are they also kicking out the ridiculous bands that play at halftime, and the other extraneous folk that do all that silly shit in the pre-game ? And for the record, I don't watch Super Bowls usually, for three reasons: 1. God considers it a sin for professional football to be played in February. 2. It's not football. It's 60 minutes of sport wrapped in 2 weeks of commerce. (stealing a line from George Will there) 3. Football is supposed to be played outside, on grass, at all times. If it snows, rains, sleets, is cold, tough titty, lil' kitty. Rotate the games through the cities, and let the fat-cat corporate sponsors live with it. Best thing about playing it in Tampa ? Potential tsunami and/or freak hurricane. (sorry Gulf Coast, but I gotta have standards) Posted by: JB at January 23, 2009 02:36 AM (CDeSU) 31

Not necessarily. Just need to get some cracks in the wall of Dem party unity. Let the libtards' natural orthodoxy and paranoia do the rest. Like what happened to Lieberman, but on a smaller scale. Either way, we need to gain the initiative. Get them reacting to US for a change. Posted by: IllTemperedCur at January 23, 2009 02:38 AM (MKNSy) 33
The NFL is, if this gets out, making a grave mistake. I'm sure that every celebtard who performs will be given complimentary luxury box tickets, we'll see plenty of cameo crowd shots of them. If the economy stays in the crapper, and a few more Madoffs pop up, there might not be the cornucopia of fundraising they've enjoyed these last few years. There are plenty of people who vote Dem who aren't unwashed moonbats, they seem to resemble and talk like normal people until the subject of Bush or Obama is brought up. There are Dems who don't like rap music, softcore porn on tv, don't think kindergarteners should be taught how to use a dental dam, etc. Posted by: kbdabear at January 23, 2009 02:48 AM (4gHqM) 39

Robert Wuhl (no conservative, he) had the best lines about Springsteen and liberalism a few decades ago. The state song of New Jersey is (or was) Born to Run, by Bruce. And it includes the lines "Baby this town breaks the bones of your back, it's a death trap, it's a suicide rap, we gotta get out while we're young...." Dumbass liberals thought that was a good song for what ? State pride ? Tourism ? No, like all liberal politicians they got on their knees and sucked every drop of celebrity wannabe-ism they could from anyone "pretty" they could find. Jones, the color guard that will present the colors for the Superbowl will not be invited to stay and watch the game. They'll be escorted out of the stadium. Understandably, some folks don't like this shabby treatment of our troops.
Indeed, I was with the colorguard for the Pro-Bowl once (I was there as support, not one of the standard-bearers). We were all invited to enjoy the game from the sidelines. Posted by: XBradTC at January 23, 2009 03:59 AM (KuGr1) 53

Sure they'll come up with a total bullshit excuse along with all the ways they'll tell you that "nobody honors the troops more than the NFL" . This is NBC running the telecast this year, perhaps it upsets Keefums to see those Bush loving Marines out there watching the game. Or maybe they're taking up space the camera crews need to bring celebrity in the crowd shots to the viewers. Posted by: kbdabear at January 23, 2009 04:14 AM (miw86) 56
I guess with NBC doing the Super Bowl they will find ways to work in Krissy Matthews and The Olberdouchenozzle, and they will find a way to get President Asshat involved as well. But I got that beat. I work nights and sleep days; I will be asleep while my DVR records the Super Bowl. I wake up at midnight, unaware of the outcome, watch it on replay- and can fast forward thru everything that isn't football. Posted by: Jones at January 23, 2009 05:01 AM (KOkrW) 57

Time to spread the word about the shabby treatment of the color guard so that everybody knows about it. Despite all the quislings working for National Broadcasting Cumdumpsters, the last thing they need is for advertisers to get hinky about a backlash (does the fact that a lot of assfucks watch the fucking spectacle for the goddamn kumurshuls say that we're a nation top-heavy on shitheads? why yes, I think it does) and yank 'em faster than Kwissy and Keef do their puds whenever Urkel approaches the teleprompter. This is NBC. Naturally, they don't -want- to honor our troops, show the colors or anything like that. They're doing this in the hopes that the troops will say "Screw this" and refuse to show the colors, thus relieving them of the uncomfortable tradition of displaying any patriotism.
Qwinn Posted by: Qwinn at January 23, 2009 06:44 AM (/y1J0) 62
Sorry, it's not NBC, it's the NFL. Whatever. Point is, they're trying to make any display of patriotism verboten, and this is their way of getting rid of that particular one.

They're doing this in the hopes that the troops will say "Screw this" and refuse to show the colors, thus relieving them of the uncomfortable tradition of displaying any patriotism. Boy, they must not know (lol) or understand our troops, volunteers who will risk life and limb at a simple order from their superiors. Gross oversimplification aside, a message to Garcia springs to mind. *IF* this is true - and that's big if, having been suckered in by many intarwebs rumors before - this is true, then fuck the NFL. President Obama yesterday eliminated the most controversial tools employed by his predecessor against terrorism suspects. With the stroke of his pen, he effectively declared an end to the "war on terror," as President George W. Bush had defined it, signaling to the world that the reach of the U.S. government in battling its enemies will not be limitless.

NFL - taken over by the NHL. Don't dismiss me, just consider how you'd sabotage a rival. Get one of the stars busted for dogfighting. Done. Get Pink to sing the theme song, considering most of the audience doesn't know who she is. Done. Put Olberwaffle on the air for his politics, which conveniently don't match those of your audience. Yep. You argue that's not the NFL, they just sold broadcast rights? Would you sell your daughter to a child molester? Now we'll kick out the Armed Forces while we're at war. Done. Not the moves of a smart business that wants to survive in trying economic times. I tell you it's the NHL. Waterboard Gretzky and he'll confess. Obama? If you don't know by now, just wait. Thatguy at January 23, 2009 09:52 AM (rkkZs) Funny that article doesn't mention the Clinton administration at all. Okay not really funny. Posted by: polynikes at January 23, 2009 10:04 AM (m2CN7) 80
And in a broad swipe at the Bush administration's lawyers, Obama nullified every legal order and opinion on interrogations issued by any lawyer in the executive branch after Sept. 11, 2001.
Well, I guess there will not be any interrogations. Oh well, we expected Crater II and the shit has filled his regime (note using the same terminology they used for Bush) with ex-Clinton people. We can expect the Clinton “war” on terrorism, i.e. prosecute them in court, give them access to classified information, and let them go.
Hey, all you people who live in NYC, stand by to get hit again. On second thought, since they didn’t get the capital on the last shot maybe they’ll try for that again as they did with the towers. Posted by: Vic at January 23, 2009 10:09 AM (f6os6) 81

they’ll try for that again as they did with the towers.
Maybe that's the tactic this time; since Flight 93 didn't get to slam into the Capital building thanks to the heroic actions of the passengers, they'll try to get it right so Obastard can institute a Cocksucker Recovery Act to rebuild it with shitty architecture but bigscreen tvs with HD so that the ignorant fucks from public schools that will be even more dumbed down from educational expert Billy Ayers' influence will be entertained instead of educated. "Geithner declared "China is manipulating it's currency" yesterday. First shot in a trade war?" No way, we need China to buy our bonds. If they stop, well then, it's everybody out of the pool and watch the world burn.

'No way, we need China to buy our bonds. If they stop, well then, it's everybody out of the pool and watch the world burn.' Yeah, it'd be bad if they stopped buying our debt. We'd be bankrupt. America is the motor of the world and would grind to a halt. In less than a week it'd be a global economic meltdown. In America, the Great Depression would look like a recession in comparison. Remember the pictures of Germans burning currency to keep warm? That is our future. Soup kitchens, bread kitchens. But, look at it this way, it'd be on a Democrat's watch. You know what's wrong with Diane Sawyer? I'm perfectly serious: botox. She's not drunk at all. She's slurring 'cause she can't do anything else.
Thought she'd look all spiffy in time for big show inauguration day, and instead she's a drool-beast. Posted by: SarahW at January 23, 2009 12:02 PM (r/1UT) 87
I suggest we all up the ante on the NFL so they can't get away with a quick presser saying there was a misunderstanding.
In my email to the NFL I suggested that if this was being misreported they should hold a presser explaining that both the color guard members and their families are being given tickets to the game. Make 'em pay for trying to cheap out on our servicemen and women. Posted by: Y-not at January 23, 2009 01:39 PM (P9xCZ) 88
