Unbelievable...Obama Becomes First President To Skip the "Salute To Heroes" Ball

No time for Medal of Honor and Purple Heart recipients or paralyzed vets? Yeah, honeymoon...over.

From This Ain't Hell...

According to TSO who was at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball, this newly sworn-in President for the first time in 56 years blew off the ball (thats 14 Inaugurations).

Some background on the ball;

The American Legion sponsors the ball, which recognizes recipients of Medal of Honor, the nations highest military award. It started in 1953 for President Dwight D. Eisenhowers first inauguration.

Event co-sponsors include 13 other veterans service organizations, among them the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Obama did manage to make it to the Commander in Chief's Ball which was a good thing. Of course in 2005 George W. Bush managed to find time to make it to both balls. Of course, he didn't have the MTV and Neighborhood Balls as options. Kanye West was at one of them. How can you skip Kanye for some Medal of Honor winners? Dude!

Have I mentioned how much I miss W. despite all my problems with him? If not... God I miss that man.

BTW, Bush started the CiC Ball in 05 to honor active duty members of the military and several hundred Wounded Warriors. Last night FNC sent Megyn Kelly to cover it. I'm guessing the troops appreciated that. Well done Fox!

Be sure to take a minute to read TSO's post on his night with these great Americans.

Not a good sign.

Anyone here have a feel for how the troops at the CiC ball reacted to Obama? I saw part of a film clip last night of him speaking from that ball, but it cut out before I could not get any feel for whether the troops were enthusiastic, polite, cold, hostile...whatever.

8 I think he was quite clear on what he thought of our men and women in uniform when he could not find them to visit the wounded among them in Germany, yet found plenty of time to give a speech to a bunch of Eurotrash and go to the gym to work on his pecs. Snort. I don't care if he is the President, may he rot in hell one day.

10 RM,

From what I saw on TV (and that's not always an accurate way to judge crowd reaction) it was more than polite but not enthusiastic and nothing like what Bush received and will no doubt continue to receive.

He will have the military's respect and loyalty because they are Americans but he should want more. I thought it was great that Obama get that ball on the schedule and a step in that direction but this snub and leaving any modern battles out his inaugural address list were two unforced errors.

I hope he learns quick.

14 This is not surprising. As I posted earlier in Barry's mind the United States is still evil and so is our military. He might hold it in lower regard than Slick Willie if that's possible.

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama invited the U.S. ambassador in Iraq to sit in on a war council session Wednesday that the Pentagon calls a first step toward ending the nearly six-year-old conflict.

The White House meeting was part of a symbolic framing of a new president's agenda on his first full day in office, but it does not completely fulfill Obama's oft-repeated promise to call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and tell them to close down a war he opposed.

Another empty gesture.

We need to start calling our Senators and telling them to filabuster everything until he publically apologizes to the troops for the insult.

It would be a win/win for the Senate Republicans. First they would get to make themselves relavent for no cost (sticking up for wounded vets who would fault them for that) and get to publically humilliate Old Big Ears.

We need to start calling our Senators now!

79 I believe I first thought of Obama as the messiah early last year. It came to me in an epiphany.

"Obama: For Now, Perspiration Over Inspiration", by Andrew Romano Newsweek January 31, 2008:

Reading the recent flurry of stories about Barack Obama--the Clinton-slayer! the youth candidate! the next Kennedy!--it'd be easy to imagine that his campaign is all inspiration and little perspiration at this point, with rainbows and starshine bursting from the tailpipe of his tour bus. Obama both lampoons and slyly encourages the perception. In New Hampshire and South Carolina, for example, the senator was fond of telling audiences that "at some point in the evening, a light is going to shine down and you will have an epiphany and youll say, I have to vote for Barack.

(Epiphany (Greek for "to manifest" or "to show"), is a Christian feast day which celebrates the revelation of God in human form in the person of Jesus Christ.)

But go ahead, libtards, keep telling yourselves that this guy doesn't have a messiah complex.

96 Obama seems to be showing , not only his true intents, he's showing just how he got elected. He's changed his claim of "Iran, getting nukes would is totally unacceptable and would be a game changer"..to "It would be troublesome."
I wonder how many votes he swayed by implanting the idea that he was serious about protecting not only the US but Israel. He stated he was against gay marriage but one of the first things he's done is to try and repeal the Defense of Marriage Act...wonder how many votes were swayed by that?. He's "Pro life" but again, he's already removing the ban on tax dollars going to countries for performing abortions. Wonder how many people were sucked in on that one..etc.etc.

All that on day one.

Even though BHO is now the CIC I am wondering just how many real fighting people will actually defend him or follow his orders. They all took the same oath to defend not the president, not the congress but the constitution from all enemies, foregin and domestic. You cant get any more of the enemy in sight that is now in DC that is willing to tear down that grand old document and destroy our country. I am willing to bet that a good number of National Guard and Reserve people along with active duty are not willing to go door to door and search peoples homes and confiscate property because he said to. I do believe he has drawn a line and now all the good grunts are waiting for him to step across it.

I hope you're right. That would require the military being a far better class of people than the police, though. Police have been perfectly willing to manhandle and injure and roughly drag away little old Catholic nuns praying the rosary outside of abortion clinics. "Just following orders" after all. (Now where have we heard that before??)

Besides, the people going door to door won't be the military--maybe not even the police. It'll be that 500,000-strong "Civilian Security Force" (Chicago-style brainwashed bullying ghetto thugs) Obama has promised:  folks that will be loyal only to Him. Think SS 2.0 (the black version).

136 Hey, trolls. Get your facts straight. The ball happened this year and the new administration broke with tradition and skipped it.

This is from the my.barackobama.com website:

By Lisa Holmes - Obama Precinct Captain #3361 - Jan 22nd, 2009 at 10:40 pm EST

The Veterans Inaugural Committee, which is comprised of congressionally chartered veterans organizations, hosts a ball to honor Medal of Honor recipients, "heros" all. The 99 living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients were invited and 48 were present.

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Traditionally, the president and first lady visit as special guests, from time to time accompanied by the vice president and his wife. Members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and leaders of the veterans groups also headline the guest list. This event has been an Inaugural tradition since 1953. This year there were no administration visits. However, LT. General James B. Peake was seated at the head table. General Peake recently served as the Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary under George Bush.

I think Obama will do more for our veterans than Bush ever dreamed about.  Michelle Obama has stated that her #1 priority as First Lady is to improve living conditions of military families.   Why don't you sore-headed go out and do something constructive for this country like Obama is asking instead of trying to tear down a man who wants to save this nation.

Jo,

That's funny, there wasn't a Salute to Heroes Ball?  My cousin, a wounded Marine was invited and attended, with his wife, mother and step father.  Even Joe Biden showed up, very late, after a lot of people had already left (including the emcee of the event).  So, whatever your source, mine was there.  Obama has maintained the level of disrespect for our troops, that he set in Landstuhl, when he declined to visit wounded soldiers, because the media couldn't go with him, instead he went and worked out.  Honestly, I hope he fixes what's wrong with the country, if he doesn't, they're just going to blame Bush anyways.  Funny, I haven't seen to many people pointing out that Bush was handed a country already heading into recession.  Oh no....Clinton did something wrong?!?!?!?!?!  Yeah, I said it.

153 Way to teach a dog infected with love and enjoyment of the people around them is dog training. Not all the people who keep the dog know how to train a puppy, but who often find it impossible to carry out dog obedience training , people who have a different feel that they do so. Although some people will tend to the field of veterinary medicine, other people will choose more specific career dog. Perhaps the most popular dog-centric professional area is that dog training. Police dog training is a great way for those who love the dogs, to help them use and dissemination of information. One important thing to remember is that the dog trainer can not only teach dog tricks and working dogs and their masters. In fact, owners tend to play a bigger roll than the dogs training process. Some people choose to learn some dog training tips from an experienced coach or a veterinary surgeon of similar projects in the apprenticeship. This is often useful, because many of these puppies training experience in the field and constant practice. Customers will often choose a coach approved no more than one certification. Other routes may be the next dog learning how to train a puppy through the animal science program behavior. Do you know how to lose weight? No matter how you do, do not skip breakfast. Brining a new dog into your home is an exciting time for the whole family, not to mention the dog. The first dog training supplies you should buy, before you even bring the dog home, are a food and water bowl, collar, leash, food and a bed. If you have another dog in the home and were thinking of having them both share a bowl, think dog training products again. Sometimes a new dog can be aggressive, or be attacked when trying to feed in a joint bowl. It's best to let the dog know what is his , for food and water. There are different types of anti bark collar. One type is remote dog collar. As the name suggests, it is used to stop a dog from constant, inappropriate barking. This collar is triggered by the dogs bark. remote bark collar works by either a vibration or a sound that is felt or heard by the dog the instant the barking starts. It can be set to different levels and responds only to your dogs bark. There are also dog bark collar that work by spraying an unpleasant spray towards the dogs face as soon as he starts barking. Selecting a underground dog Fence or pet fence to install your self at your home can be very confusing. Most of the market is Dominated by Radio Systems Corporation. They are the makers of PetSafe, InvisibleFence, and Innotek. While these products do well at containing a dog within a in ground dog fence they do have their limitations. First the country of manufacture is China. Sometimes there is a problem with consistency of signal, the signal will expand or contract based on temperature, not all of these systems exhibit this problem, but it does exist. And one of the best parts about combat (melee combat) is that it is by far the cheapest of all three combat methods.Ranging costs buy runescape gold because it requires the use of arrows. Magic costs even more because it requires lots and lots of runes. But melee combat is relatively cheap. The only and runescape money for sale you must spend is on your weapons and armor. Once you buy those things, you dont have to keep buying more and more stuff to keep fighting. As you gain levels in Runescape, you will be able to buy better and better equipment. The better you get, the better the weapons and armor you can use, which makes you better able to keep your buy runescape accounts leveling-up.
And while we are getting the basics out of the way, lets take a second to learn about the world of Runescape. Or rather, the worlds.
