Video Awesome: IDF Soldier Uses Hamas Terrorist as Human Shield Against Grenade

The video is less than awesome, as you can't see a damn thing, really.

But the narration -- just imagining -- is perfect. (I'll take their word for it that the little black squibbles on the screen are doing what they say they're doing.)

He turned a Hamas terrorist into his own human shield. Explosively ironic.

Thanks to Dreadnaught.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Muslim political action group Al Qaeda will petition the new U.S. president, Barack Obama, for a bailout. The organization, which advocates for social justice and rights for Muslims, says it is in need of $5 billion to keep its doors opened. "We still have a lot to do and the international financial crisis has made quite an impact on our ability to meet our operation costs," said spokesman Mohammed Al-Kartamhi. An aide for Obama said, "We're not ready to commit any finacial assistance to Al Qaeda, but the Obama administration looks forward to meeting with and helping any group that is committed to helping their communities, no matter where they are on the globe."

Off topic:

Roland Burris was sworn into the senate today and given a standing ovation from the people who said weeks ago he would never set foot in the place.

WASHINGTON – Roland Burris took his place as Barack Obama's successor in the Senate on Thursday, ending a standoff that embarrassed the president-elect and fellow Democrats who initially resisted the appointment by scandal-scarred Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Both Reid and Illinois' senior senator, Dick Durbin, smiled broadly and praised Burris in speeches, insisting anew that their previous resistance wasn't about Burris personally but rather about how he was appointed.

"To Senator Burris, on behalf of all senators — Democrats and Republicans — we welcome you as a colleague and as a friend," Reid said.

OT -- ABC Radio News just broke into my local programming to announce that a small prop plane with about a dozen passengers splashed down in the Hudson River. It's a tragedy and I feel for the families of the injured and deceased, but I can't remember ABC News breaking into my programming for years now. Not for larger plane crashes -- and certainly not for a puddle jumper.

It looks like ABC Radio News did an epic fail. The airplane had 100+ passengers and it looks like great piloting +/- providence led to a very survivable ditching.

Check out the pic at Reuters.

News reports say all 146 passengers and five crew members got off without serious injury.

The Airbus is now in Davey Jone's Locker.

I'm stunned that the airplane floated like a boat for as long as it did. They're designed to do so but they usually don't because they tend to break up when ditched. It looks like the pilots brought it down smooth as a feather. Pilots probably trained by the USAF.

BTW -- you can't blame the flock of geese ingested into the engines. They're federally protected as migratory waterfowl.

Remember when they flew into Baghdad at the beginning of the war? They arrived with great fanfare, and asked for directions to the nearest hospital, school or orphanage. Instead, they were driven to tank parks, antiaircraft missile installations, and communications towers.

As you can imagine, there was quite a bit of backtracking... Hilarious.
