| Hyuck: IVAW Jerkoff Is Caught on Camera Calling Troops "Monsters;" Demands That It Be Taken Down, Hinting It's Libelous Because It's "Taken Out of Context"It's a one minute clip which contains several full "paragraphs" of information (and claims). It's all perfectly in context. This asshole is actually contending that merely posting a video of someone's unhinged rants may be defamatory. And as far as his claim that our troops are monsters -- not born monsters, mind you, but made into monsters, as if that makes it so much better? Not defamatory, I guess. Thanks to AliceH. More from This Character: Another libelous video of his own words. And Still More: Apparently disarming the Iraqi security forces was his idea. I went to Iraq twice, and I think I have earned the right to say the IVAW is an offshoot of the Vietnam Veterans Against (their) War. Both organizations staged phony and unverifiable "Winter Soldier" hearings and feature people who routinely lie about their service. Just like Jesse whatever his name was, who claimed to be an Iraq-vet Ranger and instead got thrown out during basic training.
Fuck both organizations. I hope they all catch something incurable from banging unwashed hippie chicks. Posted by: SGT Dan at January 14, 2009 04:57 PM (wyUSq) 10

by the way, the reason the video is the length that it is, is because my point and shoot that I was filming with only shoots one-minute videos. This was not clipped to try to make him sound bad - I did not edit the video whatsoever.

Wait - he said that he was ordered to mess up the Iraqi soldiers' guns so that when they went out, they wouldn't work? And his whole platoon did it?

Because, there's no logical way that makes sense:
The "entire platoon" (30-50 soldiers) just sat down and deactivated AK-47s. Then gave them to the "Iraqis". Um, ok, first off, no Iraqi noticed that their guns didn't work? Second, WHY? So they'd get shot at and killed? Wouldn't they have wised up after the first member tried to pull the trigger? Then they'd turn around and smack someone on the side of the head going "Dumbass, these don'r work" (Also like the "thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands,.." schtich, I was expecting him to continue on to Millions and Billions) Posted by: Techie at January 14, 2009 05:12 PM (906oR) 24
Because he was there, so what he says must be true right? He has no personal agenda whatsoever because he fought in a war.
Are soldiers monsters icus? War results in a lot of bad things happening. Among them is the effect on some people of dealing death. Yeah, some soldiers turn into monsters. Most do not. This guy went there, he had his own experiences. I don't know what they were. There have been some reported incidents of atrocious things happening, like the rape and murder of 15 year old Abeer Al Janabi and the murder of her family near Mahmoudiyah a couple of years ago. That is in no way typical of soldiers, who overwhelmingly treat Iraqis with forbearance and respect, but there are more incidents of murder than are reported in the press. Sometimes it's just a stupid kid being reckless and callous. Sometimes it's a bad unit culture and lack of moral leadership. That is, and always has been, a fact of war. Too bad if you can't handle it and want to cling to a glorious myth. I love Icus' premise that the fuckwad in the video can speak about Iraq because 'he was there' but Ace can't.
So Icus, does that mean that you will shut the fuck up about everything that you have not personally experienced? Will you have an opinion on the Iraq and Afghanistan situation since I doubt you were ever in either place? Crawl back in your hole Icus until you evolve and develop a working brain. The Winter Soliders also made similar accusations about atrocities, but did not want to work with the DOD bringing these "Jenjis Kahns" to justice. Considering that SOME of our soldiers come from abusive homes, or have no expectation or hope for their future, or have completely botched their high school lives, or were given a choice by a judge to enlist, or the prospect of killing someone unfortunately appeals, or a combination of the above, I'm amazed that our troops conduct themselves so unbelievable well (I understand that some are forced to leave rather early on).
They are doing a hard job in a tough circumstance. I think there are far fewer assholes in the military than there are in congress. And let's face it, those in the military are FAR more honorable, dependable and courageous. Posted by: mare at January 14, 2009 05:57 PM (X1fsj) 63

OT, but since the topic is douchebags, not that much
From NRO: IMF employees were expected to pay their taxes out of their own money. But the IMF then gave them an extra allowance, known as a “gross-up,” to cover those tax payments. This was done in the Annual Tax Allowance Request, in which the employee filled out some basic information — marital status, dependent children, etc. — and the IMF then estimated the amount of taxes the employee would owe and gave the employee a corresponding allowance. At the end of the tax allowance form were the words, “I hereby certify that all the information contained herein is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and that I will pay the taxes for which I have received tax allowance payments from the Fund.” Geithner signed the form. He accepted the allowance payment. He didn’t pay the tax. For several years in a row…. Posted by: tobwing plover at January 14, 2009 05:59 PM (PD1tk) 65

In other words, if a judge gives icus the choice of "join the Army, or go to jail," he's going to jail, cuz the Army won't take him. Posted by: XBradTC at January 14, 2009 07:03 PM (1fb06) 93
I haven't filed stripped an AK-47 since Korea 1987 but i think you can remove the bolt without removing the bolt carrier and cosmetically it would look like a completely assembled rifle.
I am just pointing this out because if my memory is correct his story may be true and in that case he should be court-martialed for placing the lives of those Iraqis and his fellow soldiers in danger. Posted by: chad98036 at January 14, 2009 07:04 PM (Fdmhw) 94

This part of Info War, propaganda. One of the things you do is attack your enemy's myths about himself. If the belief is that US soldiers are generally decent and liberators, then you attack that with stories of atrocities, and you make the accuser a former soldier who is sickened by all of the atrocities and lies. That is what was done in Vietnam; and that is the same playbook the IVAW is using. One thing hindering them is the fact that this tactic has been used before and proved a lie; one of the things helping them is that many people are willing to believe the lie. Jesse MacBeth and Scott Beauchamp were the anti-American's (domestic and foreign) spokesmen. They failed with them because the tactic is old and obvious - so obvious that even a bureaucracy can counter it. This guy is their next pawn put forward. My guess is that he will fail also. Posted by: Mikey NTH at January 14, 2009 07:14 PM (TUWci) 96
Whatever happened to Beauchamp btw? The last I read his unit was going to try and salvage him. Did he complete his enlistment?

Mare at #33 - I think retribution is the answer. His story may be true in one instance - where he claims that on his on accord he removed a bolt from a sleeping soldier's weapon. The change weight probably wouldn't be noticed by an unskilled soldier. But a whole company? A hundred plus bolts lying in the dirt somewhere? The bolt carrier might hide the fact that bolt was missing but, we are to assume not one soldier in an entire company would chamber a round before patrol (when they would surely notice a lack of function in the weapon)? And what happened when the command finally discovered what happened to the weapons? I'm betting it was a prank like he relayed in the first part of his story that got him booted. This guy wants to get out of everything - his commitment to serve first and now he wants to get out of the sh*t storm his stupid rant may cause. Asswipe.
His problem is when he had to 'spoon' with another soldier to keep warm in the field some winter night, he got dicked in the ass. He will never admit to liking it..hence the grudge. Brokeback Soldier. Posted by: sickinmass at January 14, 2009 08:19 PM (/i4dU) 102
Assuming that it's true (BIG assumption), not only did he risk these Iraqi soldiers' lives in combat, he risked their lives in training. What are the chances that 100 AK bolts would be returned to the exact weapon that they were fitted to? IIRC, AKs are headspaced by filing and fitting the bolt to the trunnion. Put the wrong, non-headspaced bolt in an AK and you run the risk of the weapon BLOWING UP IN YOUR FACE.

IlltemperedCur makes a good point: In the 7.62x39 AKM, which is what the sand fleas over int Iraq carry, the bolts are fitted to the singular weapon. They lock up on the barrel extension, un like the Galil, the Israeli version of the AK/Valmet in .223 NATO. Just to say that this guy is full of shit, let me tell you something; I served a decade in the US Army, and served as a small arms tech, like my dad did back in Korea. I'm old, by the way, 46.
You cannot take the bolt of an AK and not put something back in. The charging handle sticks out the right side of the weapon VERY PROMINENTLY and only an incompetent asswipe would go out on patrol with a weapon with NO FRIGGING CHARGING HANDLE in the slot of the receiver group. If this asshole in the video, either version did what he did, he's a sorry son of a bitch. If the Iraqis let him AND HIS WHOLE DAMNED PLATOON DO IT AGAIN,they're the incompetent SOB's and they deserve to get their asses shot off for their complete stupidity. So, unless the Iraqi army is full of dumbasses who can't shoot a weapon, and those Iraqi assholes seem to shoot alot at damned near anything, without regard for aim, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this guy is a lying SOB. And having served a bit myself, full disclosure; I was active during Gulf War1 but not in the theater and would have gone if sent. I was an intel weenie and they are careful about where they send you happy ass. You can't just put an AK together without big parts unless you're handing it to a retard and then whay kind of a son of a bitch does that make you? I served during the 80s and early 90s; I don't kick dogs, screw with old folks or hand out non functioning pieces of hardware. I say to this guy: some people are made assholes, some are born assholes. I think you were born to be an asshole with a bull horn and a need to call attention to yourself. You JOINED without being drafted and you SIGNED on the dotted line, Punk ass Pussyboy. ' Shut the hell up, take off the uniform you disgrace, like the Brother in Cammies and a head full of Alfafa, in the background and go the hell away. You are a maggot, a walking talking bullhorn having abortion. Screw you and the worthless couple whose seed, DNA, and wasted genome you came from. You're the reason we need more selective birth control. We license cars and drivers but any damn body with a groin and a pulse can reproduce one of these walking abortions. Pardon ne, I need to go dry heave over this worthless piece of shit. He and his ilk make me physically ill. No warm hugs for you, asshole... all over Iraq, including Rustymaya, Beyji, Taji, Tikrit(Speicher) and
of course, good ol B-dad (the AF base at Al Muthana, FOB Honor, etc). First ground tour, 5th air tour. I
was specifically tasked with training their Air Force guys, and worked
closely with the MITTs doing the same thing with the Army. Strange duty
for a pilot. Best year of my professional life. Believe it or not; cant

My sockpuppet was thinking about removing the bolt carrier rather than just the bolt, so I think it would be possible to remove the bolt and not have it be immediately obvious, but I'm still not buying that nobody in this tool's platoon objected, or that nobody in an entire Iraqi company (100+ men) noticed. And a big second to Ronsonic's comment re: the irony of this twatwaffle whinging about a police state through a bullhorn at a large public gathering. I don't think the words "police state" mean what he thinks they mean. Posted by: gebrauchshund at January 14, 2009 11:18 PM (C+BlQ) 117
This shitbird needs to take that uniform off since he has obviously disgraced it. I really wish you could still hold formation and drum someone out of the service, even though it wouldn't have any effect on this douchenozzle.

It's looking to me that some serve in wars just so they can come home and run down their country. It's a peculiar but identifiable mental illness. Mark Twain had it for instance. So did Jawn Kerry.
In my book, running down your country in a time of war is giving aid and comfort to your countries enemies. In short, it's treason. A effort to run a political campaign that extols a candidates positions on a war is a different deal. Notice how duh1 was so opaque/waffling on the current wars...it leaves IVAW hanging out on a limb as being treasonous. ....insert popcorn munching noise here... This guy had no idea when he enlisted that he may have to "kill someone he doesn't know?" I would think those would be the preferable ones. You would be surprised how amny times I heard this (or something similar) in the run-up to Desert Shield/Storm. When we were preparing to deploy, we had a rash of soldiers try to get out of going. The most common excuse was, "I didn't know I was going to have to go to war. I came into the Army for money for college." My standard response was to ask them WTF they thought armies did. Did they not learn in school that armies fight wars? Needless to say, every one of their asses deployed with us. Posted by: Steve L. at January 15, 2009 08:26 AM (Gkhxf) 123
@ICUS: FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE. The IVAW assclowns are a boil on the ass of humanity. They disgrace the uniform with their stupid, feckless behavior, and insult those who served honorably. I don’t know who the hell you think you’re talking to, when you come on here to insult veterans who visit this site, but I’ll give you a clue:
I’m a retired Army Sergeant First Class and war veteran, with more time in a chow line than you have on planet earth.
I was in Iraq twice, and in Bosnia.
I’ve got combat boots older, and smarter than you. I’m not one of your snot-nosed IVAW buddies pissed off because the mean ol’ First Sergeant put them in the front leaning rest for being late to formation, and now they wanna act out by ‘protesting the war’.
In the Army, they're referred to as that 5%.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. At times some of us military folks do have to be monsters... or die. However that is not the day-to-day. All you have to do is look at the photos of the troops handing out books and crayons and soccer balls and see the expressions on the kids faces (ours and theirs) to understand who and what our current crop of young military people are. IVAW is another collection of wanna-be's and never-were's just like the VVAW butt biscuits of my time. As usual, the real heros and warriors are the quiet guys avoiding the limelight. Congressional Medal winners usually have to be dragged into the spotlight and are self deprecating gentlemen. These protestor assholes live in the spotlight. Kind of says it all. Alice H: No doubt the testimony at these hearings were as bona fide as the ones held before Congress in the early 70s when other "soldiers" testified to similar crimes. I doubt this nutjob served in a frontline unit.
Others here have commented on the idiocy of someone removing the bolt from a rifle and no one noticing. Just an observation do you think any soldier would try and load his rifle and not notice its bolt was missing? Do you think anyone would neglect to load his weapon prior to leaving on a mission?
This nutjob is just another Kerry, going out on mission's that exist in his mind. I wonder what his MOS was. Probably D4H, draft 4 people after Hillary.

chuck in st paul, it looks like (from following the links) these guys didn't testify under oath, so what is their testimony worth?
And Thomas Jackson, back in the 60s I'm pretty sure someone removed the bolt from my M1 and I toted it around, off-and-on, for probably 6 months and never, ever noticed that thumb-sized hole in the top part of the metallic tubey-thing poking out from the wooden handle thingy. But, then, since I was raised in the backwoods and hills and didn't even start hunting with a real gun until I was 9, I probably didn't know enough to realize there might be something wrong with the shooty thingy. Thinking back though, maybe that was why I got such crappy scores on the range. Posted by: JorgXMcKie at January 16, 2009 01:17 AM (iMgQD) 128
