Conservative Writers, and David Brooks, Meet With Obama for Dinner, Detente

David Brooks, George Will, and Bill Kristol. Whether David Brooks is even a bit conservative at this point is questionable.

I doubt it means anything. Obama wants to make a show of his "post-partisan" politics of Hope and Change, that he's "reaching out" and blah bah blah, and the other guys want to meet with the president-elect. Who wouldn't? I wouldn't turn down a chance to meet with a president-elect.

Despite speculation, Limbaugh wasn't there. He was in DC to meet with Bush.

If he is planning on signing an �extension� of the current program SCHIP which expires in March first congress will have to redo the legislation. Bush vetoed the version with the �illegal alien� provisions and signed a different bill that extended the existing program till March. The Vomit, even though he has been touted as a god, can not sign a bill that has been previously vetoed unless it gets passed again.

And he won't reach out more than this - he has a history in Illinois of only working with Republicans and right-of-center types when they come to him, not the other way around. If he can avoid it, he'll freeze them out before truly bringing them onboard.

I for one hope he takes their suggestions and implements their ideas on a substantive basis, but until I actually see proposed legislation that actually has teeth rather than this symbolism I'll reserve judgement.
