Iranians Burn Pictures Of Obama At Anti-US Protests

It seems not everyone is on board with unicorns and rainbows. Didn't will.i.am think to release a Farsi version of Yes We Can?

obama_iran.jpg

Iranian demonstrators burned photographs of Barack Obama today as they protested against America’s inaction over Gaza.

Dozens of people gathered in Tehran waving Palestinian flags and defacing and setting fire to images of the President-elect.

...The demonstrators, waving Palestinian flags, some chanting “Death to Obama”, had gathered outside the Swiss embassy which handles US interests because Tehran and Washington have not had diplomatic ties for nearly three decades.

Pictures showed the president-elect’s image laid on the road for cars to drive over it and other images showed demonstrators burning an Obama poster.

Well, I guess they won't be on the guest list for the promised meeting between Obama and Ahmadinejad.

I can't wait to see all the people who so recently praised the piece of shit Iraqi who threw as shoe at President Bush suddenly decide how uncool all of this is.

And no, it won't be any fun to see people on the right channel their inner Kosack and suddenly think this is acceptable since it's Obama.

What's next? Are they going to vote against The One at the UN?

Don't get pre-emptively defensive about the right.

Never forget what's going on here.  Obama campaigned explicitly on the notion that the world would love us if he were elected.  Well, they will.  The bad actors will love his military weakness and our allies will love the fact that he will be a pushover on items like trade.

14 It is rather telling when there are more 'protesters' in San Fransisco than Iran.  Only dozens in Iran. while CA had THOUSANDS.

This shit is scary.  How can there be any support for Hamas when they Raid UN aid vehicles and sell the items to the highest bidder?  HOW?!

After seeing those pictures from the parade earlier, I am going to be even more vigilant than ever.  IE reporting every ball sack beard I see to the FBI.  We have a very big problem in this country with sleeper cells.  I can guarantee 20% of that crowd in San Fran are sleepers.  Hell, I was walking around a local city a few months back and saw the infamous ball sack beard in a shop wearing a shirt that said Islam is the answer.  Islam is fast becoming nothing more than continued visceral hatred of everything that ISN'T Islam.  Fuck, I hate that 'religion'.

22 Eh,

Obama's daddy issues have made him one of these "please love me, pretty please" guys. I'm sure this'll be SOP for America's enemies over the next 4-8.

Step 1: Show obama or America hatred.

Step 2: BO goes to your country to show good will and brings light.

Step 3: Older gov't official treats BO like a favored son but one on the wrong path. Calls BO "buddy" and gently punches his shoulder.

Step 4: BO rolls over.

Step 5: rinse/repeat.

People on the Right should be able to discern the difference and hold Obama accountable for his foreign policy failings.  Should.  At least for this (hopefully not) final generation of Right as we know it.

Of course, we can logically deduce even before he is sworn in that any foreign policy failings will be the result of some cosmic failure of basic physics and natural laws rather the Obama administration's fault directly.

Unfortunately, those policy failures don't just lead to 'funny' pictures of our President burning in effigy anymore like they used to. (when it was Bush being effigized, according to the MSM that loved to give them air time) They lead to real world negative effects on the American public, which by percentage, if not intent, FAVOR the bad for us outcome according to voting record.

Acceptable?  Nah.  However it is quite funny because of all the people who thought our electing a minority to our highest office would somehow alter the world opinion of the US.  The rest of the world doesn't seem to keen on electing their minorities to their highest offices.  We're not like them, and even with the marxist clown as our president we'll never be enough like them for their views on us to really change.  When Obama leaves office in 2012 or 2016 he'll get to travel around being loved by the world and liberals will still be wondering why countries still hate the US just the same.

39 This pisses me off.  They are not trying to show disrespect to Barack Obama personally, which would be fine by me.  They are showing disrespect to America and using Obama as the symbol for it.  That is not fine by me.  Burning the picture of the new President was their way of saying "we hate America no matter what."  I wonder if the left could pick up on that, or if they'd admit it if they did.

Not really, I know they can't, and wouldn't if they did.  If they were any less dense/devoted, they wouldn't be leftards.

"Iranians Burn Pictures Of Obama At Anti-US Protests"

Actually, I did the same thing this morning at breakfast.  Well kinda.  I burned my Eggos because the toaster was turned up too high, but I was thinking about the Presiden-Elect.  Yes indeedy, same thing really if you think about it.

Posted by: Speller at January 13, 2009 03:13 PM (qCNRH)

87 Sorry alex. I guess we were feeling benevolent today.

Posted by: Dr. Manhattan at January 13, 2009 03:15 PM (hjBEe)

88 Don't worry.  The MSM and their leftist overlords will find a way to blame Bush for the Iranian disdain of Zero.

By the way, has John McCain stepped in to chastise the Iranians yet?

Posted by: The Other Shoe at January 13, 2009 03:17 PM (Pus2I)

89 The burnings are inappropriate, yeah, but the word schadenfreude sure as hell fits my feelings about the situation.

Posted by: Flubber at January 13, 2009 03:18 PM (g1MXQ)

90 Eh,

Obama's daddy issues have made him one of these "please love me, pretty please" guys. I'm sure this'll be SOP for America's enemies over the next 4-8.

Step 1: Show obama or America hatred.

Step 2: BO goes to your country to show good will and brings light.

Step 3: Older gov't official treats BO like a favored son but one on the wrong path. Calls BO "buddy" and gently punches his shoulder.

Step 4: BO rolls over.

Step 5: rinse/repeat.

Right on the money, except that you missed a step (can be inserted anywhere within the list, depending on the situation).

Step x: Americans die

This is the part that BO and the rest of the lefties can't understand. Showing Weakness = Dead Americans
