| Oh, Now They're Serious About The Border [Vinnie]EL PASO, Texas – If Mexican drug violence spills across the U.S. border, Homeland Security officials say they have a contingency plan to assist border areas that includes bringing in the military. "It's a common sense extension of our continued work with our state, local, and tribal partners in securing the southwest border," DHS spokeswoman Amy Kudwa said Friday. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who described the contingency plan in an interview with The New York Times this week, said he ordered specific plans to be drawn up this summer as violence in Mexico continued to mount. The plan includes federal homeland security agents helping local authorities and maybe even military assistance from the Department of Defense, possibly including aircraft, armored vehicles and special teams to go to areas overwhelmed with violence, authorities said. Kudwa would not give specifics on the so-called "surge" plan, but said it does not create any new authorities.Gee, a "surge." On the border. With military assets. Thanks, I guess, for finally figuring out the problem right before you all get fired by Obama. I've got nothing to say except.. too little, too late. Comments1
If there is one critical failure of the Bush administration other than spending it is the border. It drops Bush from pretty good to mediocre.

It is going to get so bad so fast even the Dems will not be able to ignore it or do the whole "vibrant cross culture" thing for long. We are entering a time of profound economic turmoil and just like the 30's we are going to see an explosion of organised crime. This will make the old mafia seem nice by comparison. Not that I expect the Dems to do this out of any sense of patriotism or the like. No thet will do just out of a sense of self preservation. People like Hillary, Reid and Old Big Ears will not share the power they have with anyone else. So in the end they will address the border issue, but not before a lot more people have died and a lot more Americans have been harmed. "We don't think we have a problem with violent elements at the border." said a customs official who agreed to speak off the record: "In fact, quite a few of the people coming in are quite religious. About one in three say things like 'Thanks be to Allah' after they are passed through the border check."

This is the bright side of the Obama administration. Government assholes like Chertoff who have been refusing to do their job for 8 years, out of partisan hatred, might actually start protecting America and so forth. Obama could order summary justice for drug dealers, and it would be hailed as as a great leap forward in criminal procedure.

"Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who described the

said he ordered specific plans to be drawn up this summer as violence
in Mexico continued to mount."
In other news Chertoff also volunteered that he will soon be drawing up plans to handle natural disasters of large scale. Said Chertoff, "We think it's time to consider the effects of hurricanes and flooding, for example, and how the federal government might interact better with the state level." Mr. Bush applauded his Secretary's forward thinking. 2: They use the word "if" because it's conditional - essentially, as the violence increases, it will be "defined down" as the "normal" state of affairs. Within a few years, Libs will say there was always violence along the border and "it's hypocritical to demand a disproportionate response." "Insensitive" and "racist,"even.

El Paso/Juarez is the biggest community on our southern border. It's also the fourth largest manufacturing hub in North America.
El Paso is one of the safest large US cities. It always ranks in the top five. Juarez is by far the most violent city in a very violent, deteriorating nation. Find out what El Paso is doing and do more of that. Also, I'm glad to see that Hidalgo County has opened up the ROE for it's sheriffs. Border counties have been applying for federal funds to help pay for more law enforcement because LEO "surges" have been proven to be effective. Will the troops be there to stop illegals or to stop the Minute Men and ensure an open border policy needed by large multi-national corporations ? It is my belief and hope that Americans will wake up and defend this country at some point . Our main threat is not Islam in the middle east , but insurgents from the south east . The numbers tell us more Americans are killed every year by illegals than those crazy Muslims . The media tells us Muslims are our enemies and Mexicans are our friends . I know ppl that have lost jobs and been victims of violence to illegals and the only people I know injured by Muslims are military over seas . When will we stand up and be counted ? Election day ? What a joke , 2 guys both for open borders , did we have voice ? I'm I the only one that was watching C-Span 2 last week when Robert Reich (Obama economic advisory committee) stated money going to infrastructure should not go to WHITE construction workers ? Imagine if he had said BLACK or MEXICAN construction workers . This is the world we live in .I'm ashamed not for what I have done , but for what I have not done. Am I off base as my wife tells me or sneaking a peek under the big top tent and getting a glimpse of the truth.

Even if the drug violence doesn't spill over, ranchers are being literally overrun down in S TX. They're sick of all the vandalism, trash, and corpses. There's dead bodies everywhere. Can you imagine finding that on your property on a regular basis? It's only been really bad for the last 15 years or so. Before that, it was much more tolerable--there were fewer passing through, and they weren't violent.
I'd like to know what caused the change, and if there's any way to change it back (probably not). At the very least, they need more people patrolling down there, and they need to quit turning coyotes loose. The prosecutors aren't enforcing the law. A double-slaying east of Colorado Springs on Thursday was the result of a gang-related clash over a stolen iPod, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
The suspect, 19-year-old Juan Vasquez, was arrested on suspicion of the murders of two teenage males at a park in the Cimarron Hills area. Vasquez is being held in the El Paso County jail on an immigration hold placed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, jail records show. He is due to appear in court Monday. I had this ready for posting this morning when the “news update” comment column came out but it appears we are not going to have one so I will post it here.
Another one of those so-called fair and balanced reports this morning from Fox the Democrap representative waxed poetic about the “mandate” Obama had from the voters (we knew that was coming right) to enact his economic agenda. The Republican talking head instead kept referring to Obama’s leap to turn the U.S. to socialism. This is not the first time I have heard a Republican talking head refer to Obama turning the U.S. to socialism so I guess this is a party strategy.
I have news for these morons, the U.S. has been a socialist country since the 1930s and FDR. With the new movement into loss of private property rights and the bailout of the banking and other such programs we are now moving into full communism.
Another funny thing from the Republican talking head was the accusation that Roland Burris “bought” the nomination to the Senate from Blagojevich. At that the Fox anchor had to jump back hard and say that there was no evidence that Burris had bought the nomination. I found this ironic that the supposed “conservative” news network had to reply to what they perceived as an outrageous lie by a Republican and they never do that with the Dems or others. They didn’t even do that when the Hamas talking head said that they had not launched rockets into Israel before Israel started attacking them.
Update: The Fox talking head just gave a GA Republican congressman a blast of shit because he opposed the OBama spending plan. He got rather huffy when the congressman said that FDR’s plan didn’t help and actually hindered the recovery. It appears that Fox has taken the “speak no evil” about OBama stance. The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style

is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from

that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush
immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views
of most conservatives. The management's answer to this conflict between
the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on
their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.

I wish. Thanks to the long-term neglect of the border, we have a large and rapidly growing population of people from the other side of it. They are 14% of the total US population but something like 40% of young people. Like it or not, they now have a "say" in how we run our country. And it is a large and rapidly growing "say". It doesn't take a majority to severely affect national policy if a minority is aggressive enough and the majority is accommodating enough. Blacks are 13%, and look how much power they have. Homosexuals are 1%-3% and look how much power they have. Dealing with this situation is going to be interesting, to say the least. Racial coalition politics, anyone? Chertoff (aka The Skull) has been incompetent since Day 1. His biggest accomplishment appears to be a color chart on national threat levels. Which no one understands or uses.

Doom and gloom, boys and girls. The world's going to fall apart and you and your loved ones won't have anywhere left to run to. It's going to happen. I think that's what will finally wake folks up. When you've nowhere left to go, and you're being openly preyed upon everywhere, you've nothing left to lose. It would of course be better to stand and fight now, but it won't happen. People want to believe things won't get worse. Of course they will. They always do. We're not immune to history just because we live here. I just hope there are enough smart folks left to pick up the pieces and start again.

The plan includes federal homeland security agents helping local authorities and maybe even military assistance from the Department of Defense, possibly including aircraft, armored vehicles and special teams to go to areas overwhelmed with violence, authorities said. Kudwa would not give specifics Don't look for she who wears comfortable shoes to do a damn thing. She sent the National Guard to the border. What did they do? Changed oil in border patrol trucks and shuffled papers. Maybe they can open a lube and tune for drug runners and pay down the deficet? Posted by: Azygos at January 11, 2009 02:01 PM (huYNN) 93
Wait, didn't some panty waists on our side (*cough*Hugh Hewitt*cough*) say it was Constitutionally impossible to deploy military on the border and that those calling for such things were crazy extremists? There's already a significant military presence on the border. It's called Fort Bliss. We might ought to consider changing their ROE thouh.
