They are scared of the competition. Sure, they have an edge because of their institutional development as a bit of a monopoly in the information distribution industry, but the conduits are changing. They know it and cannot stop it. Momentum is building as their monopoly crumbles. Too slowly for my taste, of course, but it is happening.

We'll witness a circling of the wagons as the heavily commercialized institutions fight for turf, but it's a huge blow to their egos and financial bottom line when relative no-names can just up and say, "I'm a journalist. Here's my perspective," and the market actually moves toward the no-name. The disgust with legacy media is palpable and the economics prove it.

The venom about to be spit from the hemorrhaging alphabet media is going to be voluminous as market share dwindles and unemployment grows.

Joe The Plumber and Pajamas Media will just laugh all the way to the bank.

And Shuster still deserves an Emmy up his ass. He's just that good.
