Rocket Attacks In Northern Israel

This could get out of hand very quickly.

A Hezbollah minister in Lebanon's Cabinet is denying any involvement by the militant group in the firing of rockets from Lebanon into Israel.

At least three rockets were fired, and Israel responded with a few artillery shells into Lebanon, which borders the country to the north. The exchange threatened to open a second front as Israel continues its offensive against the militant group Hamas on its southern border, in the Gaza Strip.

Two people were lightly injured, and the rockets that exploded in Israel's north raised the specter of renewed hostilities with Hezbollah, just 2 1/2 years after Israel battled the guerrilla group to a 34-day stalemate. Hezbollah started the 2006 war as Israel was battling Palestinian militants in Gaza.

No group claimed responsibility and Lebanon's government, wary of conflict, quickly condemned the rocket fire.

I'm sure the UN will spring into action as a result of this latest attack, as soon as they find a way to blame Israel for it.

Thanks to Dave in Texas for the heads up.

Good Background [ace]: Not on the Hezballah attacks, but on the current struggle in Gaza.

To be honest, it's one of those pieces I'm embarrassed about recommending because it explained basic stuff I really should have known before but didn't. (Which things? I don't want to say. Admitting ignorance about basic matters would, um, undermine my blogger authority.)

So without getting into precisely which facts I was wholly ignorant of, let me just recommend it.

Better yet, let me pretend I knew all of this, and just recommend it for you morons, who probably don't know as much as a big-time professional blogger.

But then, who does? Who could? I'm part of the media 'n shit. We know everything. It's our job.

1 Hezbollah started the 2006 war as Israel was battling Palestinian militants in Gaza.

History usually takes more than, say, two years to repeat itself.

2 DrewM, you are so naive. Of course it is Israel's fault. And there is no need to look for a reason; it is in the definition of kike Zionist Jew Israel.

"All violent or non-violent events that occur anywhere in the world are the responsibility of the Israeli government, and indirectly every kike Jew, and require world-wide condemnation in the form of a UN resolution."

3 What your blurb isn't mentioning is that the rockets fired from Lebanon hit an Israeli nursing home.  But it's Israel that doesn't care about collateral damage, isn't it? </sarc>

4 Sigh. Remember when Instapundit had a "Let's Give These People a Nation!" gimmick for crap like this?

5 Once Israel is engaged on multiple fronts this certainly will *get out of hand very quickly*, as there will be no more warnings to civilians, and the nations backing these front-group terrorist orgs like Hamas and Hezbo that are Syria and Iran funded and armed will become targets for a military already geared-up and moving.
Nukes will become a very real possibility, and will be supported by majorities in Israel. Israel has had, and won resoundingly, multiple-front wars before, and they have planners that game these scenarios virtually every day of the week as part of their profession.

7 "Lightly injured" means the Jew gets up, gets treated, prolly a band aid,  and goes back to work.

In Palestine, the same wound means the guy lies there and screams, howls, demands compensation, buys some fake blood and sprays it around, poses for propaganda photos, buys a few dead kids from the nearest kiddy diddlin' Palestinian big shot to lay down next to him, poses for more propaganda photos with the dead kids, then goes to a Jewish hospital and demands cosmetic surgery.

A few?!  They had better drop the hammer on these people, ASAP. The problem is that Israel plays nice.  They will be hated as jew bastards no matter what they do so they might as well demolish these people and kick all the "Palestinians" out and into Egypt and Jordan,

17 When I hear the favorite, two second-attention span dismissal of Pali rocket attacks, namely that "they don't hit anything," I wonder what the excuse would be if these savages had accurate missiles to fire. Would it be back to the "right to return" or the "cycle of violence?" All I know is there would be fresh excuses.

On the other hand, the incremental, death of a thousand cuts approach seems to be forcing Israel into a corner. It's like a decent nation is living on the borders of civilization, and the savages have learned to use our very sense of civility as its chief weapon against civility.

25 "Admitting ignorance about basic matters would, um, undermine my blogger authority."

On behalf of thinking, intelligent people, I call Bull Shit.

It takes a strong intellect to say "I don't know." especially in a circumstance where the intellect might be expected to know.

A recent example from Real Life(tm):

My wife asked the ortopedic surgeon about a lump under the skin on her thumb.  (She is a breast cancer survivor, so "lumps" are never Good Things.)

Surgeon says (we have man in the practice that specializes in hands, go see him.  (In an earlier episode years ago, a Dermatologist said see the hand guy to remove a splinter I could not get out--hands are complicated delicate structures easily screwed up  So we Believed.)

She saw the hand guy the other day, he said, looks like a cyst (our own diagnosis), let's go across the street to the hospital and we will just take it out (it hurt her at times)

So that afternoon she met him at the hospital and in due time he cut into the thumb and (cutting to the chase) says "that is an aneurysm and in 30 years of practice, I've never seen one before, I don't know what to do" or words to that effect.

He called partners (who what also operating) and eventual says something to the effect that he was going to go find somebody to talk to.

He returned with a plan and implemented it.

Wife seems to be recovering nicely--having won the battle of the strong drugs.

(They always want to give her morphine and other stuff that makes her sick and sets her back a week or more (depending on how long she gets the stuff--kind of like financial bailouts do to financial depressions.)

We have a lot more respect for that doctor (email for his name if you have a need) than we would if we found out that he just winged it and botched it.

29 Neil, what, you got TNS*?

I understand it's common in Palestine, much of the Arab and Muslim world and with all Democrats. Quite debilitating I understand. Ted Kennedy, for example pukes all the time, especially after people remind about that Kopechne kid.

People puke like volcanoes every time I tell them: "Yasser Arafat was both a homosexual pederast (that's kiddie diddler to the ill-informed and Democrats - but I repeat myself) and a beloved big shot of the Palestinians."

Oh wait, they don't - they are all immune to truth and any related syndromes. It's only conservatives that get sick and puke at the truth about murdering liars.

Perhaps you're a good man after all.

*Truth Nausea Syndrome.
