Wonkette Predictably Throwing Votes to Liberal Sites

Even targeting Nice Deb? As a PUMA?

Andrew Sullivan finally about to win some kind of recognition as "most popular one-man blog on the internet" by beating Hot Air? Andrew Sullivan?

Patterico (and RWN, and JOM) beaten by... Bitch PHD?

It's a shonda. A shonda, I tell you.

1 Weblog awards don't mean a damn thing. I don't know why folks even buy into 'em.

Posted by: h2u at January 07, 2009 06:58 PM (TZKUw)

2 And you're less than 200 votes ahead.  Lots of work to do people.  And we don't even have to feel dirty like we did campaigning for McCain.

Posted by: Methos at January 07, 2009 07:00 PM (Wf8fc)

3 Also, do folks around here like Confluence enough to vote for them?  I hadn't heard of them until the begged for votes the other night and proceeded to dump on Sarah Palin.

I've been just voting for second place in that category (long live Operation Chaos!).

4 Fuck you Penguin is kicking ass, they should just give him the award now.

5 Since we're back on topic, I'll go ahead and re-solicit willing morons to toss me a vote in the Best Business Blog category:  http://tinyurl.com/85u5n9

6 At some point during the morning, yesterday I think, some asshole posted a tinyurl in the twitter feed of a post by a commenter at wonkette--yeah, I clicked it, what the hell. Turns out it was info with a web address to some cloaking site so that you could go and vote repeatedly for Wonkette's site. Obviously an ACORN employee just helpin others properly vote...eleventy times each, I'm thinking. That little twitter feed was not there for very long, but long enough apparently to help out wonkette.

Heh. Flaming skull. Heh.

Ace wants to be blog of the year but none of these stories is a headline: Larry Flynt is suing two nephews for bringing down the quality of porn associated with the family name. An Aussie woman is charged with murder after burning her husband's dick off. And icus is busy on his Aussie vacation doing B&E to fuck rubber dolls. Tsk. Tsk. [All via Conservative Grapevine.]

Posted by: stace at January 07, 2009 07:34 PM (JO0c/)

21 Actually you have to be careful voting at a library(or work)  and allow some time between computers. Most everybody uses NAT so all the computers have the same external IP and they might get thrown out if the votes come too close together.

Posted by: Rocks at January 07, 2009 07:39 PM (7rbe9)

22 Hey, why don't we have a post today regarding who we're supporting (I don't mind voting in categories I'd never read if they're returning the favor-I just don't want to scroll all the way down to the post yesterday)?

C in Az, thanks, I try.  I actually hadn't voted for Confluence yet, but I note Nice Deb says their anti-Kos, so I will the rest of the week.  Also, the Weblog site says they're cabalbe and willing to correct vote totals for cheating, so maybe that will be amended.

Posted by: Methos at January 07, 2009 07:42 PM (Wf8fc)

23 "Also, do folks around here like Confluence enough to vote for them?  I hadn't heard of them until the begged for votes the other night and proceeded to dump on Sarah Palin."

Woah, thank you!  I am not voting for any blog that dumps on Sarah Palin.  Fuck 'em.

Posted by: Attila (Pillage Idiot) at January 07, 2009 07:49 PM (wwy6Z)

26 Kensington, I kind of expect every one of those 'Best Liberal Blogs' did their share of dumping on Sarah.  It was one comment here the other day.  I have no idea if they approached the realm of Kos insanity.

Yeah, I guess, but why even bother voting for a Best Liberal Blog?  It's like voting for corniest turd, isn't it?  Even if you find the right one, you still should probably just flush it away.

Posted by: Kensington at January 07, 2009 08:04 PM (fhJCy)

29 For foreign blogs, go with Kathy Shaidle's Five Feet of Fury blog for Canada (or Ezra Levant--they're both fighting Human Rights Commission charges); and Tim Blair's for Australia.

30 "Also, do folks around here like Confluence enough to vote for them?  I hadn't heard of them until the begged for votes the other night and proceeded to dump on Sarah Palin."

That must have been a moby. The Confluence isn't anti-Palin at all.

Posted by: Nice Deb at January 07, 2009 08:06 PM (V5dc/)

31 I remember the first time I ever heard of Wokette.  The New York Times was running a puff piece on Ana Marie Cox, breathlessly insisting that Wonkette was a bi-partisan blog because it poked fun at both sides!

Of course they don't point out that she poked fun at both sides for the same reason:  the conservative blogs for not being liberal and the liberal blogs for not being liberal enough.

Posted by: Kensington at January 07, 2009 08:07 PM (fhJCy)
