2 Understatement of the year and it's only 5 days old by an Egyptian film star:

"Hamas ignored our warnings and chose to lead an asymmetrical war," Imam said, echoing earlier statements by Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit. "It's preferable for Hamas to stop [the rocket attacks]. They should have known that Israel wasn't going to receive the attacks with roses."

10 It does seem to me a reasonable question given the relationship of Hamas and Iran; would Iran provide Hamas nuclear weaponry?

Stay with me, here. Iran has a lot of things, but they’re not outright stupid. They’re not going to launch a nuclear attack against Israel. For one thing, even assuming they had the bomb, they don’t have the (reliable) rocketry to get it there. But more, they know as well as you and I do the immediate response to such an attack, successful or not, would be turning Iran into a glass recycling center.

As have been pointed out, the Palestinians have in reality been nobody’s friend for a long time now. Iran has shown no problem whatsoever with using them for cannon fodder. Given possession of even low-level nukes, then, Iran would more probably therefore provide said low level nuclear weaponry to the Palestinians instead of using them, themselves. Of course, the response would be that all of the facade of civilization would melt away, Israel responds appropriately, basically wiping out Gaza. Thus, eliminating not one problem for the Iranians, but two.

Sure, it’s cold, but there it is. And, no, I wouldn’t put it past either one.

Anyone see this one

Best. Fucking. Ethics. Training. Ever.

(and how it might cost you too)

Ill. state workers to get ethics training

CHICAGO (AP) -- Think of a state that could use a little refresher course on ethics in government. There's a good chance a certain state whose governor allegedly tried to sell a U.S. Senate seat comes to mind.

And as it turns out, Illinois is set to hold just such an ethics course for state workers this Wednesday.

More than 200 state employees are expected to take part in the ethics seminar at University of Illinois-Chicago. Featured speakers include agency heads, as well as speakers from Gov. Rod Blagojevich's own office.

And there could be a timely lesson for participants. State legislators could vote to impeach Blagojevich on corruption allegations during the same week.

Weesa gonna teach teach you-uns some practical ethics, the Chicago way.

1) Machievelian was a chump

2) Al Capone is the best example of ethics we got. Understand?

3) We dont care how you Rethuglicans offer, it just aint enough. Now we cut your nuts off.

So I got this prediction about Obama and the Media...

IF Obama continues to demonstrate the incompetence of Carter combined with the morals of Clinton and...

IF Obama continues to whine at the people that got him into the White House about his privacy (this one is not really needed, but will help my theory), then...

I predict that the Media will slowly begin to distance themselves from him in a new and unique fashion. In order to protect the Liberal Ideology and therefore their influence over such, they will paint The One as a "DINO".

Yup, I believe that they will attempt to foist him off onto us as our stooge that we purchased out from under their very noses.

If you think about it, it's the only way that they could salvage their reputation and pull with the Left, and vilify him at the same time.

So, what do you all think? Nutty? Crazy? Inevitable?

Granted your hypothesis might become fact re:monetary supply, but in the dying throes of every collapsed government/empire the ruling class gutted the treasury and sent what was left to their allies.  I have little doubt those fuckers in CONgress aren't going to do the same to maintain position for as long as they can.

Besides, the Chinese are paying for all of the bail-out spending anyways and I'm sure they'd love a censored/sycophantic press as much as they have in Google.

when Swayze and Moore do it in the pottery clay.

Interesting in that clay is basically dirt. Demi Moore's character invited the Swayze character to have romantic relations in the clay/dirt she had prepared. Swayze was behind Moore. Thus, Ghost suggested that Demi Moore did it in the butt.

Many hidden meanings in that there film, yup.

I shouldn't have ever taken that film class.

I have given up on just about everything in the “Discovery” Channel including the “History” Channel. Yesterday I thought I had found a good info story on the History Channel about early American humans of 10,000 years ago whom they called “proto-Indians” I was fine right up until they stuck in the dissertation on “climate change” of 10,000 years ago and how people then were better able to cope with it than we are now.

Listening to Aiken bail out the Vikings last night was pathetic.  He was a whine fest as a QB. Now all Aiken does is whine about how lousy the Eagles are, which he did for 3 quarters...how they cannot convert on third.  In a piece of related news, the Eagles won again.

Read the article on Habitat. I have been involved with them occasionally. The article looked like typical ungratefullness coupled with litigation fever.

Habitat doesn't build crappy houses. In fact they over build them. 2x6 walls where 2x4 would do so that the homeowners will have the extra insulation to keep low utility bills and such.

As far as the workmanship being bad, many of the volunteers here are professional contractors.

Habitat gets the land through donations so it is possible they were unaware they were building on a dump. Plus the municipality , which should know about dumpsites, had to issue permits to build.

I'm not a huge fan of habitat because they give away what others have to earn but this seems stupid.

Posted by: kidney at January 05, 2009 09:44 AM (QZyY3)

58 I, too, worked on Habitat.  They require homeowners to work for their homes, and provide favorable rates to help those that otherwise couldn't afford homes (NOT like Countrywide).  Maybe building a huge group of houses at the same time isn't a good idea, but Habitat does a lot of good.  Even if the 2nd worst American president is involved.

Posted by: In Exile at January 05, 2009 10:10 AM (qLV26)

59 #56   Drudge is only running it because he doesn't have his own sources.  He can only use what the 'real' news people have.  Although he should correct the caption himself.  As for the AP, they have constantly portrayed flares as 'FIRE' (Woooooooooooo) from teh evul Izralees.  (or any non terrorists organization for that matter)  ask them what a fuckin rocket looks like and they most likely couldn't answer.  You know, those things that Hamas has been raining down on Israel.  I hate the MSM.
