Huffington Poster Rips Gore, Global Warming

All good stuff. Here's part:

Mr. Gore has gone so far to discourage debate on climate as to refer to those who question his simplistic view of the atmosphere as "flat-Earthers." This, too, is right on target, except for one tiny detail. It is exactly the opposite of the truth.

Indeed, it is Mr. Gore and his brethren who are flat-Earthers. Mr. Gore states, ad nauseum, that carbon dioxide rules climate in frightening and unpredictable, and new, ways. When he shows the hockey stick graph of temperature and plots it against reconstructed C02 levels in An Inconvenient Truth, he says that the two clearly have an obvious correlation. "Their relationship is actually very complicated," he says, "but there is one relationship that is far more powerful than all the others, and it is this: When there is more carbon dioxide, the temperature gets warmer." The word "complicated" here is among the most significant Mr. Gore has uttered on the subject of climate and is, at best, a deliberate act of obfuscation. Why? Because it turns out that there is an 800-year lag between temperature and carbon dioxide, unlike the sense conveyed by Mr. Gore's graph. You are probably wondering by now -- and if you are not, you should be -- which rises first, carbon dioxide or temperature. The answer? Temperature. In every case, the ice-core data shows that temperature rises precede rises in carbon dioxide by, on average, 800 years. In fact, the relationship is not "complicated." When the ocean-atmosphere system warms, the oceans discharge vast quantities of carbon dioxide in a process known as de-gassing. For this reason, warm and cold years show up on the Mauna Loa C02 measurements even in the short term. For instance, the post-Pinatubo-eruption year of 1993 shows the lowest C02 increase since measurements have been kept. When did the highest C02 increase take place? During the super El Niño year of 1998.

12 Gore no doubt believes his b.s.  Problem is he lacks the tools to understand the science.

Global warming will go the way of bird flu, SARS, AIDS, Y2K, global cooling, etc., etc., as the means of our collective destruction.  It's nothing more than another leftist / media (though I repeat) scam intended to scare the ignorant. masses and raise money for the Munchausens charged with fixing the emergency they've concocted.

14 Roger L Simon may be right. Obama cannot implement policies to combat so called AGW without completely fucking up and destroying US economy. The One cannot be expected to take blame for policies that did not emanate from his own genius ass.  So this has to be put on the back-burner and Al Gore's fat ass shipped off to the abattoir. Only his blood (or flatulence) can quench the Gods of political expediency.

But, but... Scientific American magazine just ran a feature on the "irrefutable" evidence for Global Warming!  I mean, how can a magazine which is chock full of liberals who find such clever ways to make snide remarks about President Bush and Governor Palin while ostensibly discussing science possibly be wrong?  How can that be... isn't mockery what science is all about?!  You know?

ps. I cordially invite the Nobel Committee to STFU and FOAD.  Have a nice day.

19 Is the Goreacle speaking about AGW in England where the possibility his actions constituting stock manipulation is being considered?  I guess the SEC is a little too busy here to take up the matter.

The key difference between this scientific hysteria and the SARS, swine flu, etc is that the key players; Soros and Gore - most prominently, are profiting from the fraud.  It is actually closer to one of Soro's manufactured financial crisisies that lead to one of his opportune currency raids.

I will predict some highly localized warming when the Senate considers the appointments of Obama's AGW arcolytes to his Cabinet.

21 So Gore come down to San Antonio a while back peddling this scheme and how to get rich by it. You invest in these big companies that don't need to compete to make a profit because by their relative "size" and nature of their business they dont pollute so...they sell their relative carbon credits and essentially get paid for doing nothing except existing. Brilliant. And they almost shoved this canard up our collective asses.

Lyle Gorch: "They"? Who in the hell is "they"?
Sykes: [laughs hysterically] "They"? Why, they is the plain and fancy they, that's who "they" is! Caught you, didn't they? Tied a tin can to your tail. Led you in and waltzed you out again. 29 This is just the subtle beginning of the removal of AGW from the liberal and MSM talking points.

Even the most loyal supporters of AGW have a hard time dealing with climate models that don't accurately predict global warming.  Remember when 2010 was bandied about as a year when bad things would become apparent?  That's next year.

The fact that global temperatures are not rising as predicted is just too difficult to deny.  Global cooling is an even bigger bitch.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Al Gore spins this.  It should be extremely amusing.

Re Scientific American: a few months ago there was an article that "analyzed" the treatment of Obama and McCain in the media.  The statement was made to the effect that during some time period there were more articles critical of Obama than of McCain!

Of course if you actually thought about the time period they casually mentioned, you quickly realized that it was back when Obama was running against Her Inevitableness, and the media was in full overdrive trying to get McCain nominated!!  It was ancient history, posing as being relevant to the actual election.  What a fucking pile of shit!

67 The definitive analysis of AGW, c/o Vaclav Klaus:

A: The idea is not mine. Global warming is a myth and I think that every serious person and scientist says so. It is unfair to refer to the United Nations panel. IPCC is not a scientific body: it's a political institution, a kind of non-government organization with green flavor. It's not a forum of neutral scientists or a balanced group of scientists. Its members are politicized scientists who arrive there with one-sided sentiments and one-sided tasks. Also, it's an undignified practical joke that people don't wait for the complete report that will appear in May 2007 but instead react, in such a serious manner, to the summary for policy makers where all the "ifs" and "whens" and "buts" are scratched, erased, and replaced by oversimplified theses.

Having elected Obama, the media would like to start walking back from the multiple lunacies they have been peddaling for the last 8 years.  I think maybe they shoudl have heeded Ted Steven's insights about those inter-tubes.  Archive everything, stat!

Since it looks like a lot of the "change" we are going to see is simply the bubble-wrapping of Bush initiatives in glowing new progressive words, here's a little game to help you test the malleability of your mind (don't fail!):

"Guess that reality!"

"The No Child Left Behind Act" - is it: a) an insidious attempt to make our yoots into test-taking robots and purge their progressive teachers, or b) the dawning of a fresh re-commitment to facilitating our young people's development as progressives who will vote correctly?

"The Partiot Act" - is it: a) the first step in the halliburtanization of the Constitution and the establishment of thought police, or b) the dawning of a fresh re-commitment to our national security via an armed civilian security force to help people vote correctly?

"The Afghan Surge" - is it: a) the latest act of naked aggression by a chimperialist power that is despised and hated around the world, or b) the dawning of a fresh re-commitment to defeating the root causes terrorism, our ignorance, bitterness, and tendency to sometimes vote incorrectly?

83 14 Roger L Simon may be right.

I've been saying this for months.  AGW is inconvenient for Obama.  It's one thing to bully a Republican president to destroy the US economy for some pie-in-the-sky pseudoscience for which we will see no change.

Note that Kyoto was voted down 95-0 in the Senate during the Clinton administration.

The problem for the unhinged Left is that they have developed so many inconsistent and hypocritical positions that they cannot stay consistent and not have the people loathe them.

What's a hockey stick graph? Did I miss something? It's a graph showing (false) historical temperatures for the last 100 years or so. It looks like this _____/

To further expliain: it shows thousands of years of extrapolated data indicating a steady continuum of temperature variance. Earth warms and cools within a fairly steady range over long periods of time--much longer than an average human life. The sudden rise in temperature--the hockey stick--is the cause of all the furor. It's based on bogus data generated by NASA that resulted from a Y2K computer bug that they only confessed to earlier in 2008. The continuum is unchanged. Oddly, this story has not really made the rounds in the MSM, but people are starting to notice.

#10 What's a hockey stick graph?  Did I miss something?  A movie about CO2?  WTF over

It's the fraudulent "proof" in graph form of dramatic CO2-caused global warming of the past half-century by a warmenist named Mann. It was debunked as a fraud by a Canadian, retired statistician, Steve McIntyre.

Here's Orson Scott Card writing on the subject: All In A Good Cause. And here's Bishop Hill on the subject piecing together past postings at the Climate Audit web site: Caspar and the Jesus Paper.

105 I have a question for the AGW supporting geniuses:

Humans are causing GW by burning up fossil fuels (coal and petroleum), right? So they are releasing all that carbon trapped in Earth's crust. The fact that these are fossil fuels means that these were living and breathing plants and animals once upon a time, living on the Earth's surface strutting around in all their carbon filled glory, with nary a trace of carbon to be found underground. Am I right so far?

So what the fuck was Earth's climate like at that time? Was it warm? If not, why not? All the fucking carbon was up outside the crust, fuckinh mightily with the climate. And if it was warm, was it warmer than now, or not? It should have been warmer, because we haven't gotten out all the carbon yet, and thus have not fucked with climate as much as back in the day. So if it was warmer then, and the Earth survived, what the fuck are you caterwauling about now?

2) Tushar - not necessarily from dead animals and plants, but that's a heresy for another day. Either way, the only argument you'll get from the AGW crowd is that "it's happening, therefore it's happening!" (Now, where are my mittens, it's freezing!)

There's so much bad science, fraud, and incompetence behind the "AGW attack," it's just a shame the MSM and the academy dependent of scares for funding were abel to keep it from going away back in the 1990s when it was already clearly wrong.

And a double shame that those responsible will probably never pay the price, because how do you tell who the frauds are versus the idiots? I would love to see Big Al do jail time, though... it's pretty obvious he was trying to use the government to fatten himself at the expense of others.

140 Of course you have to read the comments section.  I thought this one was a gem.

Whether or not the Earth's increasing temperature is a result of human activity or due to natural phenomena, something needs to be done. There are hundreds of millions of people around the world living in coastal regions, and if we do not do something to slow the current climate change, the consequences could be dire. In fact, the only possible proof that man-made climate change is a "myth" would be man's inability to reverse it.

Okay, Sir Francis.  How about this? The only possible proof that you do not posses the ability to levitate when in extremis would be for your inability to reverse the effects of gravity in a life threatening situation.  How about you run a little experiment and go throw yourself off a cliff you fucking lemming.

It's at a comfortable distance right now and we have plate tectonics and tides and pretty eclipses. Kajillions of years from now it'll be way farther away and things will be screwy again. Prediction for 2009: Since Global Cooling failed to catch on in the 70’s, and Global Warming is freezing up, the next Pre-Engineered “Crisis” will be…Global Stagnation, or Climate Status Quo!

And it was cold this winter–JUST LIKE LAST WINTER!!! The debate is over! Scientists all agree–only massive taxing, spending, regulation and UN-control can save us! Stop Climate Status Quo Now!!!!!”

Or, as they say, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute…and you won’t like it then, either!” Funny how the “solution” will have a certain sameness, too.

Do you really think it will make a difference?  Academia will not allow the uneducated to think that they have been conned. They will continue to teach and support this theory as if it was real just like they always have done. They have known for quite a while that he was bogus but it keep getting them research grants to agree with it.

The politicians will not admit they were wrong because that will bring up way too many questions about their competence,  beside they need the “donations” (read bribes) to continue the elite life style.  What could the peons dare to ask about?

The corrupt will continue to enrich them and allow the moron Gore to be their front man; if the sheeple begin to catch on they will throw Gore to wolves.  They will condemn him and act as innocent as possible while counting our money in their bank accounts.
