Harry Reid to Blago: Whatever You Do, Don't Pick a Black Guy

He didn't use those words -- but he told Blago not to appoint three elected officials who were black, and recommended he appoint two people who were white.

Newsbusters is wondering if the newspaper that reported this -- the names rejected, the names recommended -- is going to notice its own scoop by mentioning the racial component.

Not unless black Democrats make an issue of it. The media will never cause problems for the Democratic Party of its own initiative.

1 That's exactly what he said...he was arguing the 3 current elected office holders should not be considered because of "electabilty" while pushing for a woman who had just lost an election be appointed...

2 Duckworth just lost a congressional race, how could Harry say she more electable than any of the 3?

You'd think I'd proofread 'em first.

9 I'm curious... would it make a difference to Reid if someone told him the three were clean and articulate?  And just as an exercise in hypothesis... imagine if a Republican had done this.  Think the MSM might have noticed the racial angle?

So, in two years there's going to be Sen. Franken, Sen. Princess, and Sen. Racecard from Illinois, all led by Sen. Reid.... and....

AND....

The ability for people to pat themselves on the back for voting a black guy president won't be availiable...AND....

Most of the country will have caught up to the fact that Democrats have contolled Congress since 2006....

I don't know how optimistic I am about beating Barry four years from now, but I do know I'm feeling pretty good about Congress come 2010.

But it's okay to be a racist douchetrowel when you're a Democrat.

Posted by: sulla at January 03, 2009 05:06 PM (tlFbX)

19 I think we all know by now that it won't matter if Repugs keep clear of this clusterfuck, they will be blamed for inaction. If they do open their country club pieholes, they will be called racists... for pointing out the Dummycrat racism.

On the other hand, whatever Reid does will be painted as either an unavoidable tragedy of our complex political times, beyond his control, exacerbated by the hideous legacy of Chimpy W. McHalliburton, or it will be a demonstration of the skillful mastery of our Senatorial leadership that was unimaginable when the child-molesters... uh, that is, the GOP... had control of Congress.

Perfectly objective, you see?

Let me get this straight.  Harry Reid apparently is in danger of losing in Nevada, but he's an expert on Illinois politics.

Posted by: NCC at January 03, 2009 05:23 PM (8nB5X)

23 Reid knows that more Dem votes come from white people than black people, and contrary to careful media portrayal, not all Dem voters are wonderful paragons of post-racial harmonious feeling. If there is a perception that in the wake of Obama, too many black pols are getting powerful at the expense of white pols, otherwise reliable Dem voters might notice, and there could be some resistance. Harry Reid knows that.

Live by racial politics, die by racial politics, you motherfucking bastards.

Maybe Reid can find a little stool at the back of the senate or something.  He can seat him there.  Get him a shoe shine box and put him to work.  Maybe let him sweep up around the place.  Get him a hose and he can wash up the senators' cars in the parking lot.

Un-fucking real.  Fuck the fucking media for not saying shit.

34 The funniest part about this; I have been told more than a few liberals who voted for teleprompter jesus that because of the election of black man to the office of president, all of this race card playing would go away.  They exclaimed that blacks could no longer claim some sort of victim status.  Naturally, I laughed at them.

48 #45 - I think we did try to point out O's racial demagoguery on multiple occasions, but the BDS blinders were too effective.

Hence the large volume of "woo hoo, we won! But...who is this guy, really?" columns from the pressweasels.

49 Baldi - heh.

I suspect at an opportune moment, Joe Biden might whip out his certified copy of the LoC's Emancipation Proclamation, which - as Eddie Murphy noted - "Lincoln forgot to sign." He's just brazen enough - and Constitutionally well-versed - to give it a go.

Prediction: Michelle will NOT be happy.

I don't know if it is still there, but it was 7 years ago, the last time I went to visit my relatives. This thing was huge, and I asked my mother if it had been there a long time, and she said that town had a sign there as far back as she knew, and she is 72.
