| Hamas: We Will Kidnap Israeli Soldiers If a Ground War BeginsIt would be a capture of enemy combatants rather than a kidnapping if Hamas observed the Geneva Conventions, but of course they don't. Only US and Israel are bound by those. Exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal said from Damascus Friday that his militant group was prepared for an Israeli ground invasion of the Gaza Strip and could abduct abduct more soldiers if Israel attempts the incursion. "If you commit a foolish act by raiding Gaza, who knows, we may have a second or a third or a fourth Shalit," he said, according to Reuters. Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas in a cross-border raid more than two years ago. Thanks to Dave in Texas. Comments1
Suppose they managed to capture an Israeli solider alive. Where would they put him? Gaza is a tiny place. Egypt? Will Egypt allow people to cross the border indiscriminately during an Israeli invasion?

"There is no water, no
electricity, no medicine. It's hard to survive. Gaza is destroyed,"
said Jawaher Haggi, a 14-year-old Palestinian American. She said her
uncle was killed in an airstrike when he tried to pick up some medicine
for her cancer-stricken father, who died of his illness several days
later."
A little tooooooooo ironic, don't ya think? Posted by: Alanis Morrissette at January 02, 2009 06:35 PM (7rbe9) 3

Will Egypt allow people to cross the border indiscriminately during an Israeli invasion? Supposedly, they've been holding that Shalit guy in Gaza for a couple of years. They'll find a place. Every Israeli grunt- and I mean every fucking one- has been briefed over and over and fucking over- do NOT get taken alive if we roll on this op. I have this from a close friend in the IDF reserves who is staging on the border now. They've been told to take themselves out if necessary, to spare Israel the hostage crap that would otherwise ensue. "Ben" says everyone has a spare grenade, just for that purpose. And he says they're all chomping at the bit to go... Shit. Buddy- remember it's better to give than recieve. Shalom

I can't imagine that Shalit is still alive--sad to say, I feel pretty certain Hamas probably tortured him to death within hours of his capture. Muslims have no sense of shame at their own barbarity.

What would the Gazans do? Didn't they just reinstate crucifixition? How much you want to bet they'd miss the opportunity to show off how civilized they are? Naturally their liberal apologists won't have any problem with that, I'm sure.

I would expect nothing less from Hamas. They have this equivalence thing down pat:
Release of 1 Israeli soldier = Release of 200 jailed terrorists 1 Hamas leader, killed in bombing of rocket launcher = 10 Israeli soldiers kidnapped off the street, beaten, held, then beheaded on video. Death is life. Up is down. Evil is righteousness. These guys are easy to figure out. Posted by: red speck at January 02, 2009 07:24 PM (6RSWl) 16

I love how these "exiled hamas leaders" talk tough and let their cult like zombie followers do all the dying while they're probably sippin tea and smokin the hooka in a cozy little Iranian mosque. What a racket they've got going.

I can feel the world changing. I thought Iran was a formidable game player, making total assholes out of the west for years now and within a whisker of having a bomb. But if the Jews have been planning this move to perpare the world for the Big Attack upon Uran's nuclear bomb fuel facilities, I am amazed at their brilliance! Even my Liberal Little Lesbian Grilfriend is rooting for them. (Sura 2:29) Posted by: 7HEAVENS at January 02, 2009 07:48 PM (7lUAM) 20

Didn't they just reinstate crucifixition? Yeah, bad PR move, kind of like beheading used to be till they realized it was backfiring. The simmering resentment and anger at the Muslim world is brewing. (Sura 2:29) Posted by: 7HEAVENS at January 02, 2009 07:52 PM (7lUAM) 22

Posted by: 7HEAVENS at January 02, 2009 07:57 PM (7lUAM) 23
I can't put an exact date on it but didn't we hear rumors sometime in late summer that Israel would take out Iran's nuclear facilities some time between the election and the swearing in? I know I heard it. Methinks this is just the beginning of a much larger campaign than we can imagine! Godspeed, IDF!

Even the most cowardly gutless Liberals are human too. And when they have been pushed around bad enough, long enough, and suddenly realize they don't have to take it anymore, they won't. And they'll do what the gutless always do, after the runner is down they'll pile on and keep piling on. (Sura 2:29)

"Only US and Israel are bound by those."
No shit. And they are bound by the Sooper Speshial Seekrut version only understood by the chattering classes, in which: 1. Terrorism is redefined as formally-declared war between States. 2. The part where combatants not in uniform do not qualify for POW status and indeed may be shot in the field after a short court-martial no longer applies for some reason. 3. Enemies that don't obey the conventions are required to be given the benefit of them, and... 4. Where the US is required to observe all of the rules even though we never even signed the fucking thing. "Death is life. Up is down. Evil is righteousness." Yup. Welcome to the liberal reality. Since we hear nothing but a dull roar about how we're OMGWTF not obeying the Geneva Conventions anyway, the first thing we ought to do is start issuing hollowpoints for the M16s. It would help make the 5.56 NATO more effective, anyway. (The whole thing about "dum dum" bullets being inhumane is lunacy, anyway. We can blow them to flaming guacamole using incendiary 20mm cannon shells, but shooting them with a hollowpoint is a war crime? Huh?) What is it with Arabs that makes them talk so much trash before the fight and then call for a cease fire once it starts? Remember the mother of all wars? Yeah, right. Now Hamas is ready to discuss everything if Israel calls off the bombers. Maybe there's not enough women to hide behind in Gaza.

Now Hamas is ready to discuss everything if Israel calls off the bombers. Maybe there's not enough women to hide behind in Gaza. From what I've read, that's just how they are culturally are. They'll make outrageous threats and get in your face over a minor dispute, with both sides knowing that they don't really mean it. Kinda like someone saying "my boss will kill me if he finds out I called in sick to go to the game", except taken to extremes. I don't remember where I read it, but they'd say and do things that in the West would probably earn you a broken nose, but would wouldn't understand why they got hit because to them it's just normal bluster. The IDF/IAF hit another 25 targets last night, and senior Hamas commander, Abu Zakaria al-Jamal, is now pining for the fjords:
The Israel Defense Forces attacked more than 25 targets across the Gaza Strip on Friday night. One of the targets bombed by the Israel Air Force was a college used as a meeting place and hideout for Hamas members, where many rockets were fired towards Israel. Other targets attacked included hours of activists used as weapon storehouses and a control tower at the Dahaniya Airport. Abu Zakaria Al-Jamal's house was bombed in one of the airstrikes. According to the IDF, his job was to direct the firing of rockets and was in charge of rocket launching cells. The house of Ismail Ghanem, a member of Hamas' military wing, was bombed in the town of Beit Lahiya. According to the IDF, Ghanem is one of the main people responsible for the firing of Grad rockets at Israel. The IAF also bombed the house of Izz al-Din Haddad, head of Hamas' military wing in the eastern part of Gaza city, and the car of a Hamas activist who according to the IDF was unloading weapons from his car to a Gaza storehouse. Navy forces attacked Hamas posts, training camps and rocket launching pads. Sources in the Strip reported that the IDF dropped leaflets in the early morning hours, calling on Gaza's residents not to take to the streets. http://www.ynetnews.com Posted by: A Plover In Every Pot! at January 03, 2009 09:51 AM (wFYko) 53
