| Israel Prepares Ground War for GazaRide the tiger, reap the whirlwind: Israel is poised to launch a major ground offensive into Gaza tonight after allowing hundreds of foreigners living in the devastated territory to evacuate. After a week of air strikes that have killed at least 420 Palestinians and left scores of buildings in rubble, the Israeli army was set to fling hundreds of troops and tanks into a blitz to stamp out Hamas’s military wing, The Times understands.I understand, too. Despite the looming onslaught, more Hamas rockets – which have so far killed four Israelis – were fired into southern Israel today.Note the way that is written. Despite the looming onslaught, the massive barrage of rockets continue. How about: Because the massive barrage of rockets, which have killed four Israelis, will not end, the ground war looms. Cause. Effect. It's only a difficult concept for Hamas' jock-sniffers in the European and leftist American press. The Islamist group vowed that its attacks, which have lasted for years and which finally provoked the massive Israeli campaign, would not stop.< “I call on the resistance to continue pounding Jewish settlements and cities,” said Sheikh Abdelrahman al-Jamal at the funeral of a hardline Hamas political leader killed, together with his four wives and 11 children, in an Israeli air strike on his home. “We will remain on the path of jihad until the end of days.”The IDF has scheduled the end of days for this Tuesday. More: Hamas Declares "Day of Wrath:" The Day of Wrath will join the other days of the Hamas week, Day of Vengeance, Day of Massacre, Day of Murder, Day of Senseless Bloodletting, Day of Explosively-Expressed Grievances, and of course Day of Intense Cultural Inferiority Complex and Extreme Sexual Confusion which Leads to Outbursts of Psychopathic Violence. Day of Wrath. Also known as "Friday." srael is on heightened security alert today after Hamas declared a "day of wrath" after the killing of a senior Hamas leader in Gaza. Thousands of security personnel were on alert after the Islamists called for "massive marches" after the main weekly Muslim prayers, starting off from the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem and from all other mosques in the West Bank. Witnesses said that violent scenes had been reported in east Jerusalem, with protesters throwing rocks at soldiers. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that thousands of extra officers had been deployed to deal with the ongoing clashes. Comments1

Israel and the United States are fighting the same enemy.
This enemy wants nothing short of the annihilation of the free world and will stop at nothing to achieve its end. This is an enemy that values not its children and that worships death. It is a cancer that must be eradicated before it wreaks utter devastation. For the Israelis, they must find the courage to transcend the pressures of global politics and commit themselves to terrorism's swift defeat, without apology for collateral damage and destruction. A world body that ignores the crimes of using human shields by a para-military terror group, a terror “army” disguised in civilian clothing that places its weapons in crowded areas, and puts women & children in harm’s way cannot be equated on any moral scale to an nation that uses surgical strikes against these indiscriminate terror missile launchers that TARGET civilians. Otherwise we are a body infected with hypocrisy and lacking any moral compass and our judgments must be cast aside and ignored. To win this war, America must acknowledge that good and evil cannot coexist and it must, therefore, unequivocally choose to vanquish evil. But first we must be honest with ourselves in order to recognize evil. Muslim extremists and the Arabs use “turnspeak” to confuse the world into thinking that the U.S. and Israel are “Satanic” …when in fact the satanic acts are 9/11, Mumbai, the Marines killed in Beirut Lebanon, U.S. Embassies bombed, suicide bombers, hijackings, mule bombs, pipe bombs, RED’s ad nauseum. We must stop trying to be an "honest broker", playing both sides of the coin so as to curry the favor of the morally depraved Arab world and the morally confused Europeans. Furthermore, America must stop the call for the creation of a Palestinian terror state, any claim for which has been nullified by the Arabs’ failure to abide by any covenant engaged in, and by its planting of the cancer of Islamic-extremist murder and Jihad-style terror through out the civilized world. Their oil is just not worth the moral price we pay in innocent lives lost. The Arabs already have 23 huge states, the Jews have 1 small Israel does the Middle east really need another Arab state especially run by HAMAS? I wonder if it will dawn on any of the dopes in the MSM that one of the most strident supporters of the Palestinians, to the point of paying the family of suicide bombers against Israel, was Saddam Hussein. The PLO was one of the only groups to openly side with Husseing in the first Gulf War and Iraq served as a training and funding ground for PLO terrorists. Hussein is gone now, the PLO is shattered and Hamas is a relatively weak replacement and Iraq is pretty much silent on this conflict. Thanks President Bush. #40 "We'll kidnap more soldiers"!
Yeah, that's the Arab schtick. Jews don't take kindly to the kidnapping and killing of their soldiers. What they don't understand is that Jews have a rather different perspective with regard to threats. Gassing millions of Jews in ovens has that effect. The Arabs are Nazis, naturally. They were courted and trained by Nazis during the second World War. Fuck all of them. Arabs are losers with peanut dicks, misogynists who have contributed nothing, absolutely nothing on their own volition to the modern world. The fact that the West has to pander to them disgusts me as a woman. Posted by: Scooter at January 02, 2009 06:21 PM (2xjr9) 47

No sense to committing to a ground war yet, imo. The Islamic scum have no effective anti-aircraft defenses, so stand off and blow the shit out of them with CBU's and JDAM's, already. Why take casualties if you don't have to? Just doesn't make sense after seeing what happened the last time Israel undertook a ground attack against these vermin and only fought to a draw.
Nope ... "death from above" for at least a few more weeks. I'd say "bomb them into the stone age", but they are there already. Posted by: Bruce at January 02, 2009 06:28 PM (rdFaW) 49
Exiled Hamas "leader" threatens response if Israel invades Gaza. I don't think that's gonna make them rethink their plans. The solution being for the Israelis to take no prisoners, IYKWIMAITYD. Whenever they kidnap a soldier, they demand hundreds of jailed terrorists be set free in return. No jailed terrorists, no incentive to kidnap. "Oh, so now you want to surrender, Akmed? Wait- is that a suicide bomb you're carrying?" BANG "Oops. Guess it was just a sandwich. My bad" Posted by: Hollowpoint at January 02, 2009 06:33 PM (rf03a) 50

Why take casualties if you don't have to? Just doesn't make sense after seeing what happened the last time Israel undertook a ground attack against these vermin and only fought to a draw. Actually, you have it sort of backwards. In Lebanon the problem was that they thought they could accomplish their goals by relying mostly on air power and following up with a limited ground incursion. That doesn't work- you can't know where all the bombable targets are, and even if you could, there's no guarantee that your target will still be there when the bombs hit. There will still be plenty of enemy personel and weapons around after the bombing stops. Air power is great for taking out known, static targets- but to target personel and find weapon stashes, it means boots on the ground. The mistake would be to think that bombing allows for a small ground force, as they tried in Lebanon. Even after air power has weakened the enemy a bit, it still takes a strong ground force capable of covering lots of territory to finish the job. Posted by: Hollowpoint at January 02, 2009 06:42 PM (rf03a) 51
To follow up on Hollowpoint, Fox reported about 20 minutes ago that Israeli sources are saying that they've exhausted their target list and are now making attacks of opportunity. So it's about time for the ground stage. I just hope they're prepared to see it through to the bitter end this time.

BANG "Oops. Guess it was just a sandwich. My bad" Classic and funny in a sad kind of way. You never know how life is going to end unless you're a Muslim/Palestinian...then it ends with a bang, more or less. They put their weapon caches amongst their own children and families and then act sticken when Junior gets fragged by the jets trying to blow up the weapons that are hidden in Junior's room. Damn, that's inconvenient, isn't it? These idiots just never learn,do they? Posted by: Enter sandman at January 02, 2009 07:06 PM (zxaA2) 53

I don't think Israel's recent track record is too good on this. If the, ahem, "international community" squawks loudly enough, Olmert's nutsack will shrivel up like a winter's day in Minnesota and he'll recall the IDF, declare "victory", and boogie on out. Hamas will then regroup, get some more rockets, and begin the fun all over again. I'm pessimistic. Posted by: OregonMuse at January 02, 2009 07:12 PM (XUV9W) 55
Shockingly enough, we actually have a bunch of fucktard protesters in downtown San Diego - maybe 150 or so. My suggestion to Palestinians - next time, start a war you can win. Maybe with a box of kittens or something.
Posted by: ErikTheRed at January 02, 2009 07:14 PM (erlfI) 56
Hence my use of the word "hope," OregonMuse. Their motivation to achieve a passably successful outcome (a bare minimum of ending the rocket fire) is bolstered by elections in a month that they're behind on. Of course if Kadima (predictably) wousses out again, I have every confidence that Netanyahu will set about cleaning up the mess, The One's opinion be damned.

It will all be for nought, because, as we learned in Iraq and Vietnam, you can only win by controling, then bringing the population which a guerilla lives in. The IDF can do this dance indefinately, go in, kill alot of terrorists, then leave. However, they will leave the population to the political-religous infrastructure of Hamas. Then they will have to repeat in a couple of years. Wash, rinse, repeat. It won't work in the end. You have to either control and convert the population, which means a long term occupation, or displace the population, which only means Egypt, which will then destabilize Egypt, as they have no immunity to the Jihadist ideology. A large Palistinian influx will break the balance of anti-Jihadis vis-a-vis the Jihadis in Egypt. Remember, Hamas is closely connected to the Jihadis in the Sunni establishment in Egypt. It is an Egyptian that gave us the modern Jihadi movement. There are no good choices here. I would like to see Gaza emptied, but to where? Can we subsidize an real counter insurgency campaign in Gaza? I just hope Obamessiah screws it all up.
Posted by: Federale at January 02, 2009 09:13 PM (H1JJq) 64
Federale is right. Therefore, I propose a Land for Peace deal. Whenever a rocket is launched from Gaza, Israel bulldozes 100 feet along the northern border of Gaza, and then moves the security fence south 100 feet and annexes it. Repeat until Hamas gets the message. Soon there will be peace but I'm betting they run out of land first. Posted by: Warthog at January 02, 2009 11:02 PM (BsEqt) 65
