| Connecticut Post: we're not interested in readers bitching about Chris Dodd or Barney Frank.I guess they've been getting quite a bit of mail lately. ...All letters are welcome. But there are code words hidden in some that are signals to stop paying close attention -- "Chris Dodd" and "Barney Frank." ...The deciders - we'll decide what you see, and we'll decide what you should think about it. We control the horizontal and vertical. Comments1
Any letter that fails to blame Bush should not be taken seriously. Dude, Yale is in Connecticut, so these guys are clearly smarter than we are.

They've conspired against all the correct-thinking Americans who know that the only way to get the Real Truth is via a once-a-day paper-and-smeary-ink publication. Now finish your fair-trade gruel. How could he miss the socialism? As to the oil industry, how does arbritrary "windfall" taxation and redistribution as an energy rebate/stimulus sound? He tells the oil companies where they can or can't do business (ie, drill), how much is "too much" to earn, and expropriates their assets for the proletariat. I guess that's not socialist enough.
Or the negative tax scheme? Or the "spread the wealth around"? Or the Global Poverty Act? I could go on, but I'd be wasting electrons. Posted by: Sockless Joe at December 25, 2008 07:44 PM (UazZY) 10
Everytime I pick up the Connecticut Post, it seems, there is a letter published that "outlines" the case for the impeachment of George W. Bush or the war crimes trail of the Bush "syndicate" or "cabal". It is amusing to me, but I do question their motives. The only letters that I see published that can be considered "conservative" are on local matters. Though I guess that the editorial board did endorse McCain, if that means anything. I don't read it that often anymore. Posted by: blackrockmarauder at December 25, 2008 07:45 PM (NKjqO) 11

Partially true. Milton Friedman, may he rest in peace, was in favor of the negative income tax as a replacement for the existing welfare system (including Social Security) and the minimum wage. Barry seems to have left those parts out. Posted by: Andy at December 25, 2008 08:12 PM (B+HYX) 20

We got a 100 letters and everyone on campus was in an fit about this Ekaf Rettel, guy, who obviously was foreign. Let the bastard go, leave him alone. Disaster that is Iraq? Crikey! Doesn't this guy read the newspaper? Christmas is now an official holiday in Iraq, and Christians are celebrating without fear for the first time in, like, forever! Oh...yeah...that wasn't reported in the newspaper... We're just supposed to reflexively spout the "Iraq Disaster" nonsense, regardless of the actual situation on the ground. And I'm with previous commenters who take exception to the infant mortality figures. Here, if a baby takes a single breath, it is considered alive. We try to save extremely premature and sick babies, who in other countries would be left to die. Does anyone with a seriously ill child get on a plane to take him or her to a hospital in any of those other countries whose infant mortality rates are so much better? Nah - they head for the US. "Nice...keep insulting half of the country and trivializing views that are opposite of yours. Soon, everyone will think just like you. And it was really cool how you defended Barney and Chris by noting that they were only in charge of their committees since early last year. It probably wouldn't be good for the cause if the truth of their defense of CRA and Fannie and Freddie that has gone on for years got out to the unwashed. I live down here in South Carolina and man, there are Christians crawling all over the place here and few unions to help protect the workers down here from the evils of capitalism. Haha...we even have a Governor who doesn't want to take a bailout like all the states up north and out west...you know, all the states run by the smarter liberals. I think it's pretty obvious that we could use us some guys like Barney and Chris to help straighten us out, but we're stuck with Sanford and DeMint. Do you know that they intend to lower the state income tax here? I mean, what are they thinking? You know there are a lot of people from up north who are moving here. There was talk that so many would move here that they might even tip the political balance to something more in keeping with the movement...you know, the Movement. But, I guess that global warming/climate change thing will take away their reason for moving here before that happens since you'll be having our climate there soon. Well...it looks like it won't be THIS year, but I'm sure it will be soon, aren't you? BTW...do you guys deliver to South Carolina? Man, if your paper could be delivered here...can you imagine the exploding heads? There's nothing like this kind of writing to inflame those silly ol' secessionist , non-union, Bible thumping conservatives. Maybe, when your paper goes under up there, you can retire down here. Fannie and Freddie spewed out $1 trillion worth (face value) of subprime mortgages between 2005 and 2007. That's a whole lot of toxic waste. Though Messr.s Frank and Dodd weren't at the the helm the whole time, they were there during the most productive period of the toxic waste mortgages and did less than nothing to stem it. Therefore their stewardship of all of this should have been terminated long ago, along with everyone and anyone else who contibuted to this mess instead of sounding warnings, as many did. What is outrageous is that the officers who contributed to running the ship onto the rocks are still in charge of it, instead of those who prudently tried to change course and steer us away from the rocks. Frank and Dodd are merely the most visible and high ranking ones and as such are an offense to the taxpayers they helped steer into bankruptcy. Huh. I emailed him, politely, to tell him to give his customers what they want--Barney and Chris--and he just emailed me back. Seriously, in less than 10 minutes. Said readers claim Barney and Chris are responsible for the recession, and they're not (paraphrasing him). Huh.

#3 said it early and said it best. And, since this post, TOO, was used to bash Detroit, this "GM apologist" as the WSJ auto jackasses like to stereotype, will repeat: Stop rationalizing your choice of cars. The vehicular gods at the "T" word and Honda are also experiencing their own bad day at black rock. That with the Japanese government footing industrial medical expenses. Boo-effing-hoo to them. In the meantime, $10Gs back on a Cad Escalade EXT might be enough to tip the argument with the minister of finance at my house. Lots of ponies, glittering chrome and plenty of heft. And, no, those of the "T" word cabal, that does NOT describe a Tundra. The Cad will get extraordinary gas mileage. The Tundra can't even stack up against the F150 or Ram, much less a Silverado. Plus, quality snafus the MSM seems to not report or relegate to the back page. Does the phrase "engine sludge" have any meaning to you? I'm from Massachusetts and God knows we live in an Oligarchy not even remotely akin in any form to a democracy of any kind. Barney Frank is a cockroach and although I am not terribly familiar with Chris Dodd or his preferences, they are probably blood brothers and taken together are symptoms and causes of the continuing deterioration of a once moral and valued society in the U.S. It is so nice to see that the Connecticut Post wants to deny writers their constitutional right to dispute what others may consider Politically Correct. I am Independent in voting and conservative by nature. It is my opinion that we all deserve what we get from liberal trash like Frank and Dodd because we keep re-electing them and other inept and downright corrupt pols who serve no masters but their own avarice. I am sure that in New England in general and Massachusetts in particulatr, this type of criticism will be looked upon as the lunatic rantings of a demented conservative. There are many Conservatives who share the blame for what has happened to this country and it's economy because the pols failed to live up to the responsibilities inherent in being elected to office. They, upon election, immediately forget that government is supposed to be the servant of the PEOPLE. Liberalism will totally destroy what is left of the United States; rags like the Connecticut Post will be instrumental in hastening our demise as a nation. Do any of us remember a time in the U.S. when there was no such notion as Politically Correct, and the moral values, pride in country, healthy economy and quality of life that went along with that time? Did all that end along with the life of Mary Jo Kopecnie,or have we all forgotten that, too? Why don't you ask the cheater from Harvard, before someone gives him another award for service! Forget Frank and Dodd, there are bigger fish to fry! Posted by: Banshee at December 27, 2008 01:35 PM (LEFGJ) 96
