Fort Dix Five: Guilty

CAMDEN, N.J. - A federal jury on Monday found five Muslim immigrants guilty of conspiring to kill U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix.
The five foreign-born defendants were charged with conspiring to kill military personnel and attempted murder. The men were acquitted on the attempted murder charges. They all face life in prison.

Looks like the 'Psyche! We were just kidding around about that whole jihad thing' defense didn't work for them.

21 Funny thing is, I saw one of the defendants at the 7-11 he worked at a couple months before they got busted. It was down the street from someone I was visiting and the sight of him outside of the store, jib-jabbering some allah-snackbar nonsense into his cellphone until he noticed me eavesdropping was kind of sobering. He ducked into his expensive car and closed the window and kept up his angry tirade.

Reminded me of my trip to "Amish country."

Yeah, not really. But the comparison between a group of peaceful, decent folks without cars and electricity and a religion that precludes military service and a transplanted albanian ROPer with an expensive car, electricity, and a hard-on to kill American soldiers provides a nice contrast between religions. There's just something about Mo's book that brings out a lot of anger.

Judge Napolitano is reporting that the defense will most likely appeal because the elements needed to convict for the “conspiracy” and the elements needed to convict for the “attempted murder” were the same so the jury should have found them guilty of both or innocent of both.

The judge doesn’t allow for the fact that the jury may not agree with the “elements” and voted accordingly.

I'd really like to know why the jury deliberated "38 hours over 6 days". Some lame stream media jerk will point to the time frame and conclude that "there must have been some doubt". Stupid ass folks who don't understand that these SOB's want to kill us.

However, I'm glad they came back with a guilty verdict; in these screwed up times it could have gone the other way.

The good: The system did (sort of) work. They are going away, hopefully to Florence, for a long, long time. I haven't heard much about it in the MSM, but I have not gotten the feel that it was some sort of OJ circus sideshow trial.

The bad: They may see the light of day someday. Also, the MSM and Dems will use this as evidence that "the system works", that the criminal justice system alone is really all that is needed to protect the country from the savages, and that the Bush model of treating terrorism in a war mode is just more cowboyism that makes everyone hate us, sniff, sniff.
