White House Continues to Pound the NY Times for So-Called "Reporting"

No link, but a White House spokesman just suggested to FOXNews that the White House recognizes that the NY Times has fallen on hard times and may not have the resources to do original reporting! Paraphrasing: "I don't know if the Times' junk bond rating is causing a lack of reporting or whether their lack of reporting has caused their junk bond rating." Heh.

Could have used some of that snark during the past eight years, no?

What's this all about? Catch up here. In short, the NY Times ran a shoddily-sourced hit piece in Sunday's paper that blamed the entirety of the financial crisis on the President and his "free market" principles. It also managed to completely ignore the Democrat-led CRA, blames the Frannie/Freddie meltdown on the President's unwillingness to "compromise" on regulation (read: bend over and take it from Barney Frank), and suggests that the President was paid off by the bankers to let them alone.

The White House struck back yesterday in a statement from Press Secretary Dana Perino.

3 The commies have certainly been emboldened by the One's ascension. On the lefty blogs I see more and more snarky columns about the failures of capitalism and the free market, and free trade.

I hope Obama is not dumbass enough to something extremely radical, but it looks like we're in for a rough ride.

I was willing to label the NYT as simply "complicit" in their failure to report on the truth regarding the CRA, Frannie/Freddie, and the immoral actions of those Democrats (and Republicans alike) that took campaign hush-money to keep quiet about the impending market crash.

But now, after seeing what it is that they've written in their Sunday rag, it's clear to me that they are now directly involved in the cover-up.  There is no other explanation for their absolutely horrible attempt to lie to the American people.  I can't believe an American "paper" would report such things.  Although shocking, considering the source, it is no surprise.

Posted by: LC at December 22, 2008 10:42 AM (K37tB)

5 These losers are so blatant and phony in their "reporting" that nobody takes them seriously anymore except the most brain-dead and hopeless of liberal-followers and Obamabots.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of them out there.

First in the AP two weeks ago, and then last week in the WSJ.com online, a piece on how Republicans were taking money from Mac/Mae was put out.  In it, the writers list D'Amato and Gingrinch, among others, with nary a Democrat mentioned.  Yet in this apples to oranges non-comparison, they fail to mention that these two took their money after leaving Congress.  Coupled with the NYT article, it is easy to see that a re-write of history will be attempted. Hopefully, those Senate and House youtube videos stay around to counter this nonsense.

Bush's communications team has failed his administration miserably. I can't count how many times I was waiting for the media to be called on this kind of thing, to be met only by silence. The case for the war could've been amply made, but they didn't engage the media directly.

Stace: All that griping you're seeing on lefty blogs is the pent-up frustration of mediocrities who can't understand or refuse to accept that they're losers. These whiners can't make it in the competitive workplace.

Coffee is for closers.

Good thing almost no one reads the New York Times, and those that do weren't the least bit open to persuasion in the first place.

Let them have their silly little circle jerk.  Do you honestly think that without this piece of propagandist tripe that they wouldn't have re-written history to pin the meltdown on Republicans and Republicans alone?

They've got a narrative, and all "facts" that they cling to are reverse-engineered from that narrative.  Anyone who's ever pounded the piss out of one of his lefty friends with actual facts only to get the "nuh uh" treatment in return knows what I'm talking about.

They're mentally ill.  They can't be saved.  We can only look forward to the day when they die off without having left behind any of their diseased spawn.

LOL, it was Obama and the Dem’s mantra during the election already. It was ALL Rethuglican deregulation that caused the “banking crisis” and had NOTHING to do with F&F or anyone in congress, except Phil Gramm.  This is WHY the NYT wrote the story.

And it is notable that the WH did not grow a minor set of balls until the last minutes of their admin.

32 It's their own damn fault. Not only is the Bush Administration in fact partially culpable for pushing bad loans (to artificially inflate the 'ownership society' for people who couldn't afford their own damn homes), but they attempted to cover both their own, and the even more culpable Democrats' asses by keeping quite. So naturally the NY Times found some way to take advantage of their guilty and dimwitted silence and blame it entirely on the Bush Administration.
