Because I Can

I'm in a giving sort of mood I offer some links you might enjoy or at least stuff ace would not typically link:

There's the Vanity Fair overview of Kate Winslet's photos.

Also someone at Vanity Fair didn't get the memo that Bush jokes were soooooo 2007.

It seems that liberals also still can't get over Sarah Palin, even people who "hate everything she stands for." Bruce Elliott, a painter with very little talent, is cashing in on Palin's popularity by painting a crude nude of the governor. The ick factor (one of many) is that his daughter served as a model.

UPDATE: Bruce Elliott is now working on a Blago nude. Awesome.
The NSFW portrait is below.

3 I'll bet he's proud of the fact that he can't paint a rifle with any degree of accuracy. I bet he's never held one. - Of course, based on the quality of the nude, he hasn't held that many naked ladies either.

I was switching off my PS3 after finishing up a level of Dead Space this afternoon and BAM!  There's a scene from Little Children of Kate Winslet getting banged like a bongo on top of a dryer.

His painting style looks kinda high school amateur-ish.  Very flat surface presentation, black outline of the body and a 'standard' sort of body.  No talent for painting - just promotion.

Personally, I thought Kate Winslet's most stellar performance was in the Off-Broadway musical version of "The Warriors."

Critics raved over her performance in the role of "Swan." (Village Voice gave it 5 stars).

Rumor has it, her next project is a collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Weber on a major Broadway production of the musical "Aliens." The sticky point in the negotiations and writing seem to come down to her indecision on what role she intends to play: If she plays Ripley, there's a lot of stage time and exposure, but if she portrays the "Alien Queen," with all the drama that entails, well...I see a Tony award in her future.

Gabe, who sent me all of this inside info., assures me it's the real scuttlebutt.

64 Little known fact:  "Deneuvely" is actually a french word meaning 'frumpy'.  It's quite an insult across the pond.

Kevin, that may be (and probably is) true, but the headline writer was most likely making a reference to Catherine Deneuve, an ultra-hot French actress/model who peaked in the '60's, mostly in European films, but had some exposure in the United States. According to the Wikipedia article, she had a rep for playing "ice maidens."

The writer for the article linked was probably trying to be cute. Why am I not surprised.

89 While she may be looking terrific these days, what she isn't looking like is herself. You have to have a really good image of her face and study these VF photos hard before you can say that is Kate Winslet rather than some woman who looks a bit like Kate Winslet.

Some magazines seem to like making famous women unrecognizable. Like when Kristy Swanson was in Playboy a few years ago. Great looking woman but looked so different from her previous self that the nude celebrity allure was completely lost.

Yeah, I remember thinking the same thing when Tia Carrere did her Playboy spread. Didn't seem real, somehow.

Modgi,

God bless your friend.  I will say a special prayer for him.  You guys that have served recently have my special thanks.  No one made you do it.  You did it because you're patriots.  God bless you too.

My nephew did three turns in Iraq as a Marine.  He is being counseled now as the result of PTSD.  He's still a good guy and more level headed than most people I know.

Merry Christmas my friend.
