| Run, Sarah, Run! Poll Puts Palin Over Lisa Murkowski 55-31, and Shows Her Winning General Election EasilyA DKos poll, but Allah says the pollster was ballpark right, so let's say it's close enough. Some say Palin shouldn't get tainted by the Senate. Well, I don't think she'd get very tainted. Except to the extent she would cast a lot of conservative votes on hot-button social issues, which governors usually don't have to deal with, which is partly why governors have an easier time of winning presidential elections. But sell out? No, no way. She's a very competitive person. The liberal media just brutalized her. Called her an idiot. I think she wants this. I think she wants the Fuck You, Too.Comments1
Plus, she was all about increasing the special education budget to $40 billion dollars or something.
So, do we really need another big spender on the R side of the aisle? Posted by: lorien1973 at December 19, 2008 07:03 PM (IhQuA) 2

It would be worth it just to see her vote against everything cocksucker McCain supported.

Did I mention she's hot? She'll drive the unshaven-armpit Lib women crazy - again. Posted by: Steamboat McGoo at December 19, 2008 07:07 PM (58OxE) 5
My wife and I have already agreed to give $500 to her for whatever her next campaign is. We live in Washington State and would love to back a winning conservative.
Regarding the 40 billion for special education: maybe, mabe not. She was compelled into a lot of "compassionate conservative" crap by McCain. Posted by: Master Typo at December 19, 2008 07:10 PM (RjVDK) 6
I have absolutely no problem with Sarah Palin fucking me, too.
Or am I reading that last sentence wrong? Posted by: Fa Cube Itches at December 19, 2008 07:11 PM (LxjSI) 7
I'd much rather she didn't run. It'd just give dems and the MSM (birm) the opportunity to brutalize her for the next four years, and we'd hear from dems, the MSM, and moderate republicans that all her conservative votes make her too devisive a figure to be a serious Presidential candidate. Keep the powder dry and stay on target for 2012. Governing is better experience for a pres/vp candidate, anyway. Posted by: Liberal Twit at December 19, 2008 07:12 PM (ltwze) 8
Ugh, a large part of Palin's appeal is that she isn't part of the DC problem. She'd be a junior Senator as long as it would matter (to a Dem no less), and be subjected to 2 to 6 years of the corrupting influence of the Senate. All the while being on the losing side of countless votes. Republicans will hold that seat anyway (unless Stevens finds a way to run from jail) and she's better off piling up the executive experience. Particularly if she can cut spending and taxes while Obama flushes the rest of the country.
Besides, if she doesn't set up for a run against Hussein, we're going to be stuck with him for 8 years by which time, it just won't matter. And I get that Romney has the better experience right now to deal with our economic problems, but I just don't see him generating enough excitement to out perform the Cult. The only way for Sarah Palin to repair her reputation is to go to Washington and be an in-your-face presence. Truth is, I hope she fades away into obscurity up in Alaska. She wasn't a drag on the ticket, but now she's purely fodder for the media. And let's face it, she's a fine Conservative, but she's not a great spokesperson for Conservatism. Palin got manhandled by a fucking twit, Katie Couric. Couric is a stupid little bitch and any Conservative worth his/her salt should be able to make Couric look like a fool. Same goes for Gibson. Posted by: Bart at December 19, 2008 07:22 PM (LYGnd) 10
She'd have a hard time against Murkowski, with oil around 40 bucks a barrel she's going to have a large deficit next year, on top of that the Alaska Permanent Fund has been taking a beating, not really her fault but voters are going to want to blame someone when their dividend checks get smaller. She'll still be able to win reelectionas Gov., I don't know why she'd gamble on this Senate seat.

It would be a mistake for Sarah to run against Lisa. I've worked on both the Palin and Murkowski campaigns, and I have deep respect for these women. We need both of them. Unfortunately, we just elected an ego-maniacal Dem to the other Senate seat. But that's a depressing subject for another day...
Sarah could easily beat Don Young in two years for our lone Representative seat. Perhaps that should be her stepping stone. The state's issues are volatile right now, but then they will always be volatile. This shouldn't keep her from seeking higher office. Posted by: 8starsnorth at December 19, 2008 07:51 PM (GenOK) 21
Please think, people. It will be better if Sarah Palin remains governor and is re-elected by a substantial margin by Alaskan voters. As a sitting governor, she will be able to generate more power and authority than she could as the junior Senator from Alaska. A Senator becoming President is still the exception while a Governor or another person with great executive experience becoming President remains the rule. Remember - Governors act while Senators talk!

#21 Id agree but she really really needs to dispell the image she knows nothing about world affairs. That`s all subretards talk about when trying to bash her qualifications. `I can see Russia from my house` is kind of now necessitating she get some true international experience, even if Obambi had none to begin with.

A Daily Kos poll, they really have our interests at heart, not. As I said before Lisa Murkowski, can lose that seat herself thank you very much. Maybe we can find someone to run against her in the primary, some public spirited man or women. Sarah needs to ride her on the AGIA pipeline, and the upcoming Conoco/Phillips Denali deal. She's still the best positioned of all the governors on fiscal terms, probably the only one that doesn't require a handout. It is her example away from the stench of Washington that gives us hope. Katie Couric edited those interviews with a hacksaw, part, as did Charlie Gibson. the joke was still on her, the CBS evening news loses more money than aIG on a bender. I knew you were beginning ironic, notrop; but it wasn't funny. Now If I were here, Kathleen Johnson would rather not live in Alaska just about Embarassing the 'Huntress' as the Russians know her is not a good career move. Posted by: narciso at December 19, 2008 08:00 PM (XWJh5) 24
I really doubt she would want to be away from her young kids that much. She would have to fly back and forth and only see the kids and her family once or twice a week. I think she stays in Alaska and this is a big reason why.

If Palin went to the Senate, IIRC she'd be at the mercy of the entrenched Senate Republican leadership for her committee appointments. They wouldn't let her anywhere near a substantial committee, she'd be shunted off into subcommittees on Polar Bear grooming, Disposable Diaper supply chains and Greeting Card protocol. She can make the necessary changes to the inaccuracies about her knowledge of world affairs, but it needs to be on HER terms, not the entrenched DC elite's. Why should she run as a Republican? It's not like the party has done her any favors or that she needs any party to get elected in Alaska. The Republican's rush to take a leak on the spending-cons and the neo-cons and the social-cons has left it with a pretty narrow appeal. Who needs that?

Before decisions like this are made the Republican party better wake up to the fact that they need her, and the people that she brings to the table, a hell of a lot more than she needs them. The Republicans, in the future will, run to win elections or they will run to make Kathleen Parker and Chris Buckley and MSNBC happy. The choices are mutually exclusive. John McCain proved that.

As governor, she commands the Alaska National Guard (yeah, there's a liberal rimshot in there), and significant military installations such as Elmendorf are in her state. These forces could come in handy if the Union grows as tenuous as I expect it will. With Alaska's military might and oil revenues, she could command a mighty force composed of renegade military and mercenaries, equipped with F-22s from the 3rd Wing.
From her position as governor, she could easily invade and occupy large swaths of the Northwest. Posted by: Big Fat Meanie at December 19, 2008 10:46 PM (n2eCn) 66

Sarah Palin needs to decide how to frame the debate to her advantage. There are definite advantages to remaining governor of Alaska. I do not see many advantages to being a Senator. She needs to worry how she will develop her image, because the media will be tearing her down every step of the way. Continuing as governor would give her the advantage of getting out for the occasional hunt, which would drive all the libs crazy and reassure the rest of the country. Maybe she could accidentally shoot a reporter in the ass while she's at it. More importantly, she could take high profile trips while representing Alaska's interest and get some all-important foreign experience. Posted by: Harry at December 19, 2008 11:08 PM (fGO+E) 72

She was right on virtually the all the issues that mattered; yeah she went along with the bailout, but she wasn't crazy about it. John McCain's time has passed. No more talk of secession, please, Lind's has gone thoroughly around the bend, a dozen years ago, since he misread one of Pat Robertson's books. It is one thing to be the Governor of Alaska who's selling the oil on government land for a zillion bucks a gallon, and it's another to be governor when oil is selling for squat. In the first case, everyone loves you as you spend as much money as you need and cut taxes. (Any fool can run fat city.) In the second case, everyone's scrounging for a piece of a shrinking pie.
If Mrs. Palin's popularity survives a period of sustained depressed oil prices, it'll be a powerful argument for her leadership. I'm hoping for this. Posted by: Steve Poling at December 19, 2008 11:27 PM (UWHTf) 80
Senator in a Dem dominated congress buys her minor committee assignments, being under the microscope of a media that loathes her and will take every chance they can to marginalize her. Like someone said, do an outstanding job in Alaska and bide her time honing her knowledge of foreign affairs and preparing for the media onslaught she will face. She needs to continue to hone her Sarah Barracuda persona for that rather than to be any part of the go along to get along DC culture, because (again quoting someone earlier) the media will try desperately to Quayle her. They will keep their powder dry for her, and she needs to be ready and bring her total A game when the time is right. I believe she has the guts, the personality and the savvy to bitch slap Pravda on an ongoing basis with a combination of humor and meanness if need be; and I think if she does, her favorable polls will go through the roof. Recent events indicate executive experience or legislative influence of any sort is a boat anchor. From now on, in order to win elections, prospective candidates should promise to bankrupt industries, hang out in racist churches, write a couple of bullshit books, cruise along in a culture of corruption, and be mentored by thieving murdering sub-human Marxist fucks. Having stupid constituents helps, too. Heaven knows, I'm no genius. In fact I am a moron. I am not, however a democrat. We can only continue to demand better from our candidates than whatever O's version of 'I feel your pain' was. And no more limp dicks like McCain. Ever. From her position as governor, she could easily invade and occupy large swaths of the Northwest. I just got a stiffie, reading that. I believe she has the guts, the personality and the savvy to bitch slap Pravda on an ongoing basis with a combination of humor and meanness if need be Yeah, I'm hoping that, too. She's already been savaged by the worst the left can throw at her (and McCain, but I repeat myself). If she's everything we think she is, she'll govern AK for four years and come back loaded for bear, knowing exactly what to expect--and with some scores to settle. And she'll do it with a smile. Keep her as far, far away from the Senate as possible, for the reasons everyone has cited. Senators, for the most part, suck. There's no advantage in becoming a peer of the likes of Caroline Kennedy, Posted by: tsj017 at December 20, 2008 12:43 AM (TV9JE) 91
Sarah Palin needs to stay as Gov. Senators are the worst of the worst and Reps, well, they kinda suck but at least they're closer to Joe Average. Bart #9, She could have manhandled those fools (Gibson and Couric) had she been able to say whatever she wanted to say. Believe that. Sarah Palin is not short on answers given her own environment. Unfortunately for her, she is a team player. That campaign was horribly run, and she got the brunt end of it.

How well I remember that moose hunt 20 1/2 years ago. I fired just as someone else fired, when we approached the downed moose it was instant , white hot passion. She was all over me and I was all over her like a sex crazed monkey on a football. All I can say is that moose was charbroiled by our monkey sex heat as was the surrounding area. I do not remember her name but she looks a lot like the present Gov. of Alaska. Posted by: 1sttofight at December 20, 2008 01:45 AM (8uZUi) 96
#94 It sounded a lot like 'those fools' handled 'her' to me,and without having to try too hard, she just dug herself deeper every time she opened her mouth, in fact it was painfully embarrassing,I felt guiltily sorry for her.Maybe she does have plenty of answers given her own environment, but who wants to hear them.I suggest a cage fight between Sarah and a moose.

Couric is a stupid little bitch and any Conservative worth his/her salt should be able to make Couric look like a fool.
Anyone can be made to look like a fool if the film editor has an agenda. Her mistakes were 1) giving an interview to Couric in the first place. 2) not insisting on a copy of the raw footage (or bringing her own film crew). That aside, I think she'd be better off staying as governor for now, with this addition: a syndicated talk show. That would give the real Sarah a national audience. 101 -- the mistake she made was agreeing to the interview at all.
The media are the enemy. No Republican or conservative should agree to any interview unless it is aired live, there is independent filming of the entire event, and someone reliable on hand to make sure the plug doesn't "accidentally" get pulled just when the interviewer starts getting taken down. I'm quite serious about the first two. The third one -- well we're not there yet. Posted by: qrstuv at December 20, 2008 09:13 AM (iLavX) 104

+1 If Palin ever trecks with Cheney, divide the hunting grounds as they head off in opposite directions for the day, he to take down fowl and she to bring in the game. Or leave him retired at the camp with Lynn cookin' biscuits and tending the fire while Palin takes down and prepares red meat for chili. In terms of preparation for the Presidency, Governor is a much better position than Senator. It's an executive position (remember how SP was the only one of the four Pres/VP candidates to have executive experience?).
Plus, each state has two senators but only one governor, which means being a senator is only half as good. QED. Posted by: The Chap in the Deerstalker Cap at December 20, 2008 11:34 AM (I1dFU) 120
It is best for the US, the Republicans, and Palin herself if she stays and governs Alaska well. Governors historically have had an edge up on other offices in the Presidential race. If Obama is doing well in 2012, he will win, and it doesn't matter what office Palin holds. If he is doing poorly, the GOP will be much better positioned if they run a successful governor, and say about Obama "this is what happens when you elect someone with no executive experience. Also, a Senate run means that Palin inevitably will have to say "I'm better qualified than Murkowski" (and perhaps implicitly Hillary, Caroline, etc.). It is almost demeaning, because she clearly is better qualified than any of them. Also -- as the Caroline buzz illustrates -- 'qualifed Senatorial candidate" is somewhat of an oxymoron. Senators are almost by definition arrogant bozos who accomplish little. How do you qualify yourself for that? And if you have qualified yourself, do you want to advertise it?
