12 I agree with Ed at Hot Air - the judiciary is the wrong approach.  There is no constitutional reason why impeachment and removal would take so long.  Here is what the Illinois Constitution says:

SECTION 14. IMPEACHMENT
The House of Representatives has the sole power to

of cause for impeachment and, by the vote of a majority of
the members elected, to impeach Executive and Judicial
officers. Impeachments shall be tried by the Senate. When

28 Did you guys watch the press conference?  She's in favor of the special election.  Further, the judicial action is temporary, so if the legislature fails to act, Blago could be backe in charge next year some time.  It seems a better alternative than letting him sign bills and hand out money between now and when the legislature can act and then sorting it all out.

The best part of the conference was when the lawyers explained to local liberal media that the legislature trumps the judiciary, as soon as they act.  I thought Andy Shaw's head was going to explode.

In any case, this is going to be popcorn worthy for a long time.  Blago's not going to spend the rest of his natural life in prison if he's got any dirt to sell.

This is all part of the larger federal corruption case in Illinois that has been going on for years.  It first netted Rezko in 2006.  Rezko was Gov. Hair Helmet's political fixer and when he was indicted by Fitz, this is what Rod had to say:

"If in fact these allegations relating to Tony are true, he betrayed my trust," Blagojevich said. "He lied to me. He deceived me. But a lot more important than that, he violated the public trust.

"And I feel a tremendous sense of personal betrayal," the governor said. "But no one is above the law and everybody is accountable to the law and God forbid he did these things. And I pray that he didn't, but if he did, he is going to have to be held accountable and answer to that."

Seems tossing untouchables under the bus is a tradition in Chicago.

Rezko and Rod go way back.  In fact, Patti Blagojevich has been in the real estate business with Rezko since 1997 and she has made a boat load with Rezko.  Could be she is much deeper in the poo than has been stated so far.  There has even been some speculation she assisted on the Rezko-Obama land swindle.

Fitz has the thumb screws on Rezko and Rod and maybe Patti now and they will all sing like birds to stay out of jail.  This is gonna be great!
