Obama Advisers on Two Hour Conference Call with Blago About Senate Seat?

Hmmm.

I'm not sure Gateway Pundit quite proves what we all suspect -- we know Blago was on the phone with “various Washington, D.C., based advisers," but we don't know necessarily they're Obama advisers. They could just be general party hacks looking to broker a deal.

On the other hand....

Mr. Emanuel was among the few people in Mr. Obama’s circle who occasionally spoke to Mr. Blagojevich. He declined to answer questions on Wednesday, waving off a reporter who approached him as he walked across Capitol Hill.

And Obama's denials are very circumscribed:

n a news conference in Chicago to introduce his choice as secretary of health and human services in the new administration, Obama reiterated that he has never spoken to Blagojevich about the appointment of a replacement to serve out the remainder of Obama's Senate term, and he said he has not been contacted by any federal investigators regarding the case.

Obama said he has asked his team to "gather all the facts about any staff contacts" that might have taken place between his office and Blagojevich or his advisers. But he said he was "absolutely certain" that his office was not involved in "any deal-making" with Blagojevich on the Senate seat.

Obviously, "I" didn't talk about this to Blago allows for the possibility that, say, Rahm Emmanuel did, and a denial about "any deal-making" doesn't mean deals weren't discussed. Just not made.

Thanks to CJ.

10 Let the parsing of measured words begin. I think "is" is probably cleared at this point, but "facts?" Could be anything. One man's fact is another man's interpretation, therefore, some discoveries really aren't noteworthy or relevant. And "staff contacts?" Is that lenses or penises? Or both?

Let's just say these words are "just words." I'll wait for Fitzgerald to give me the appropriate context. 'Til then, any statements from Team Obama remain enigmas wrapped in riddles sprinkled with BS and punctuated by er uhms. BTW, has Bill Clinton been hired as the PR ghostwriter?

The gang of Ivy League (and  USC) educated thugs that hung around Richard Milhouse Nixon's political operation--can you remember Donald Segretti, John Dean, Gordy Strachan et al---used to talk about "limited hangout" and "plausible deniability".     I think Obama, Rahm Emanuel, and David Axelrod (whoops, not David Axelrod) knew enough about Blago to make sure that the Anointed One never spoke directly with Blago.  I mean the stench around the dude was enough to gag a goat, and Obama might get his little pink ears soiled if he actually talked to Blago.  Of course Axelrod "mis spoke" or fell off script when he said that the Messiah and Blago had actually met and talked with each other about this.

Anyway, we're now left with Obama saying, "I never talked with, I never heard, I didn't know--and now it's time to throw the person who was not the governor I knew under da bus!".   Note that Obama does not say that Messrs. Emanuel, Plouffe or Axelrod did not talk with Blago.

So if Obama's telling the truth about never speaking to the Blag about who was going to replace him in the senate,  what does that say about Obama's sense of duty?  Not only does he miss votes,  and vote present like that's at the top of his job description, and show up late time after time for senate hearings,  but after all that he doesn't give a rats ass about who takes his place.  "I'm outta here,  mutha-fuckas!  It's all yours,  baby!"

He's either a liar,  or a lazy bum.  Or both.

22 You know there is just no way in hell Obama didn't talk to Blago about who he wanted to fill his senate vacancy.  If not him personally then his "people" certainly did which is one and the same anyway and they wouldn't do so unless they were delivering the O's specific message.  It's just preposterous to think otherwise.  For O to imply/infer that IF something did occur it would have to have been some rouge underling (he's used this excuse in the past) is just pure horseshit.  Btw, how in the hell would Valerie Jarret's name come up if O wasn't involved?  Who in the hell would consider her on any list of candidates much less a short list?  This is so obvious and it is just so sickening that the world bends over backwards to cover for this guy.  Nothing about this country in my entire life's experience has made me as sick as what occurred to get this man elected our President.

How fucking stupid does Obama think we are?  Granted, he was elected, so he has reason to believe we're all drooling imbeciles, but still- we're really supposed to believe that he had no interest and no contact (personally or through serrogates) with Blago over who would fill his Senate seat???  Really?  Really

Obama isn't just being dishonest, he's being blatantly dishonest- we know Blago complained that Obama wasn't offering him anything for appointing who Obama wanted.  We know they met.  We almost certainly know it was discussed.  Why the lies?

My gut feeling is that Blago asked Obama for something in return for his preferred appointee and Obama turned him down, but having not reported it doesn't want to appear part of a coverup.

25 I've yet to see anyone, anywhere, mention that Fizgerald is a democrat. He may be the second coming of Eliot Ness, but he is still a democrat. One scenario that I can imagine is Fitzgerald (or his people) warning the Obama camp that they were getting close to the quicksand in the swamp after hearing the 2-hour horse-trading marathon through the wire tap. Up to this point, Obama's camp was probably not aware of the wire taps. Knowing in hindsight what had already been recorded, they then backtracked as quick as possible, withdrew candidate No. 1, and went all quiet on the whole subject. It remains to be seen if the warning came quick enough.

"Obama said he has asked his team to "gather all the facts about any staff contacts" that might have taken place between his office and Blagojevich or his advisers"

Does this sound like they'll compare notes so their stories come out the same, or do only Republicans need to worry about being accused of collusion to obstruct justice? Remember Clinton "refreshing his memory" by asking his secretary things like "we were never alone, right?" and "you could see and hear everything, right?"
