Obama: Do Not Believe Your Lying Eyes

Nice. It's Daley writ large, across the entire nation. Coming to a White House near you. Corrupt labor-backed machine pols? We are now West France. Do we at least get a sporty new flag? (I'm partial to one with mag wheels and flames on it) Cool part: 15 hour work weeks, subsidized by the peso.

I'm going to say this again: I did not have inappropriate contact with that Governor, Mister Blagojevich. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. According to some sites, contact between Blago and the Obama camp means that Blago's extortion demands for naming Obama's replacement were relayed and turned down.

Not reporting Blago's approach to them for a bribe is a violation of Federal law, AFAIK, and there's apparently no record of them putting the Feds onto Blago over this.  (The story of Rahm Emmanuel doing so was apparently denied by Rahm's office.)

Long time reader, first time poster.

Nothing will come of this even if there is a video of Obama handing over wads of payoff money in a seedy back alley of Chicago.  Remember the cretins who held up signs during OJs freeway chase?  "Even if you did it, we still love you OJ!"  Same thing here.  Some people really are this stupid.  This is the Jonestown crowd who will do anything no matter how obvious it is that they are following a phony.  I have a feeling that Obama was not directly involved in this affair, but his instantaneous reaction to claim that he's never had any conact with Blago Drago should give people a pause.  Even if he's not guilty of anything, this ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to lie about something that can be discovered in minutes does not indicate someone who's either highly intelligent of politically savy.  All politicians meet thousands of people every single day.  it's their freaking job!  And it's inevitable that they might associate or shake hands with a great deal of crooks and slimeballs throughout their career.  So, just acknowledging that you met with someone, or just know them, does not automatically equate with you conspiring with that person on some evil act.  In fact, saying right away that you have never dealt or met with such a person, when you know it will be discovered that you did, would only make people think harder about why you lied in the first place.

If Obama just came out and said that, Of course I know the guy!  He's the governor of my home state.  Sure I met with him!  Then, it wouldn't look so bad and people wouldn't start to wonder if there really WAS something going that Obama had to deny meeting the guy in the first place.

This is so common sense that even a child would understand this.  This is why all of the people who are awed by Obama's brilliance and political savy mystify me.  The guy has even less political sense than McCain.

24 There's nothing in there that's a like, as long as you read it properly.

"I [me, personally] had no contact with the governor or his office [about him selling my seat and giving me a cut] and so we were not [oops, can't say "we"], I was not aware of what was happening."

His aides discussed it with Blago after BO gave them general instructions.  It's 100% true and completely misleading.

After all, he's a Harvard lawyer.

Posted by: Vic at December 11, 2008 03:11 AM (q8aAJ)

26 and I forgot to mention that most of the media will not get into this.  at all.  remember that Watergate was all about a president they loathed, and couldn't wait to bring down.  in this case the press MADE Obama!  he's their baby.  there is no way on this earth that they will allow him to be brought down with anything, not even if he shoots someone in the White House point blank in the head, while getting a blowjob from Opra.  even if a few honest reporters will try and expose any wrongdoing on Obama, they will get C-blocked at every opportunity by every single liberal/Democrat/MSM twat from getting any relevant info.  it will be like Jim Harrison in Oliver Stone's JFK, except, you know, FOR REAL.

The only hope for this whole thing is that Blago talks.  You have to figure that Fitz is going for 300 years or so to loosen the lips.  You also have to figure that the Dem's have sent over Al Capone III to make Blago an offer he can't refuse:

Al:       "Look at me Blago."
Blago:  " What?  Some greaseball shows up, who the fuck are you?"
Al:       "My name is Al, look at me."
Blago:  "Okay, I'm looking, what are you going to do, break my legs?"
Al:       "You wish.  Some friends sent you a message."
Blago:  "What message?"
Al:       "You can flip on some junior members but if you say anything about Daley or Obama you won't live to see the courtroom."

30 Obama is a liar.  He met with Blago.  Axelrod did not misspeak:

1) Ill. governor meeting with Obama today

By Carol Sowers Wednesday, November 05, 2008 at 10:39 a.m.

CHICAGO, ILL. -- Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.

That's one of Obama's first priorities today.

He's meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss it.

Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement.

There's already been speculation about his selection...from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago's south side who co-chaired Obama's presidential campaign, to recently-retired state senate president Emil Jones, to the governor himself.

It's likely the governor will make his decision quickly so the new senator will get some seniority before newly-elected senators take office in January.

Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat.
KHQA's Alexis Hunt is speaking with Illinois Senator John Sullivan today about his thoughts on that replacement process, his time working with Obama in the state senate, and if there's a chance Sullivan might play a role in the Obama administration. Watch KHQA News at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. tonight to hear what he has to say.

2) Duckworth comments on consideration for Senate

By Alexis Hunt
Saturday, November 08, 2008 at 9:48 p.m.

QUINCY, IL — Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.

Obama met with Governor Rod Blagojevich earlier this week to discuss it. Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement. There's already been speculation about his selection…from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Junior to Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth.

Duckworth made an appearance in Saturday's Veterans' parade in Quincy. We asked her about the possibility of filling Obama's seat.

"The Governor's office confirmed yesterday that he is considering me and I am deeply honored jus to be considered. I hope whoever is selected is someone who is willing to travel around the state and gets to know this wonderful state. I'm just honored to be considered," Duckworth said.

The governor expects to make his decision before Christmas. Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat.

3) Blagojevich mum on possible successors to Obama
Chicago Tribune (IL) - Friday, October 31, 2008
Author: Rick Pearson and Monique Garcia, TRIBUNE REPORTERS

Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Thursday cited the potential for bad "karma" and avoided discussing potential Senate successors to Barack Obama should the Democratic nominee win the White House, but acknowledged he has a process in mind for making the most important appointment of his career.

"I just don't want to jinx him and I don't like the karma of me thinking that far ahead," Blagojevich said of Obama 's prospects in Tuesday's election. The governor added, "We have had some discussions about a process which we'll share ... if all goes well."

Oh, come on. For once I disagree with you guys. You're being disingenuous. Obviously Obama's statement purports to say that Obama had no contact with the Governor on this issue. That may be a lie, but that's what was clearly intended. The photograph doesn't disprove that one bit. It shows the President-Elect meeting governors at their national meeting. Big deal.

Really, this is the first posting on this site that reminds me of -shock, horror- excitable Andy Sullivan. He displays the same breathless outrage in postings that turn out to be filled with juvenile spin and easily discovered distortion. Don't be like him. I stopped reading him.

It's just so funny to me how all of those ivy League, Harvard graduates like Obama and his wife do not appear to be intellectual, educated or even that bright, really.  Nothing from their public appearances, or written word, bespeaks of The One, or Michelle's, superior education/mind.  I picked up Barry's book at Borders ont time, just to look through and see the genius I keep hearing about, and was not terribly stunned by his eloquence, wit or even interesting ideas.  His writing (if it's even HIS writing) is as dull and uninteresting, and even pedestrian, as his public persona.  I just did not see where his writing stands up to Mark Steyn, or Jonah Goldberg, or PJ O'Rourke in terms of humor and clever observations.  Certainly nothing that would indicate that this was the writing of a Harvard graduate.  What is it with these Ivy league/Harvard/Yale types who are utterly void of humanity and vision?  It would almost seem as if those fancy schools are only good for resume and bragging rights, as opposed to actual attempts to create free thinkers and idea men.

35 Obama Calls on Blagojevich to Resign

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said in an e-mail to FOX News Wednesday that Obama is siding with Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn and "many others" in calling for Blagojevich to step down.

"Under the current circumstances it is difficult for the governor to effectively do his job and serve the people of Illinois," Gibbs said.

Another unforced error by The One. If Blago won't resign, O will look weak by not being able to make him. Why should Blago resign? What he did is not illegal in Illinois.

45 Barracudameister, don't be mentioning Thatcher, or a lib may have a stroke.  If there is one person the Left hates more than Reagan, it's Thatcher.  As far as they are concerened, she is one step away from being Hilter.  When I lived in Russia (until I moved to US in 87) the government and the newspapers, but I repeat myself, made as much fun of Thatcher as they did of Reagan.  I remember seeing cartoons of her in papers all the time, and thinking that she must be as evil as Reagan.  Hey, I was 13 and knew nothing of the world other than what Mother Russia told me.  Then my dad told me that if the Russian government hates her so much, then she must be as good a person, if not better, than Reagan.  Boy did he turn out to be right.  I've since adopted a strategy of looking at who the Left hates, and assuming that this person must be ok if the Left hates them so much.  Usually, this hunch turns out to be pretty much dead on.

52 Obama's "lies" were part of a carefully crafted FBI script to throw Blago off-guard. They're waiting for Blago to repeat the denial of contact so that they can nail him on an additional perjury charge. This is all part of a 15 year investigation that Obama initiated by meeting with Bill Ayers to infiltrate the Weather Underground. After years of foot-dragging by the FBI, Obama finally forced them to act by leveraging his power as President Elect.

Took more than the maximum from a single contributor ... crap the black lady that works for the state that went after Joe the Plumber announced that she donated 2500 bucks when the max is 2400.  How many more of these in the BILLION dollars that Obama spent to buy the presidency?  How many donations were from overseas and from a non-US citizen?  No telling, but we know that anyone could donate and the address did not have to match the 'actual' address of the doner.

First of all, new guy, I really didn't need that image this early in the morning with breakfast; so I denounce you preemptively. The Russian already have a tag for her, 'the Ohonitsa' or the Huntress, a name that suggests respect, so they have a better grasp on things than 52% of the population here. She's from the North, she hunts, she works out, she knows oil, and she's hot; more than a match for Putin. One of their local papers, Commersant, even noted the propaganda campaign been conducted against her, and her bumbling wingman. The Russian government on the other hand. loves Barry, he's like Christmas and the Day of the three Kings wrapped up in one, they probably still can't believe that the American people fell for this scam artist.

As to what reaction there is to the one, "the OJ is innocent' is an important subgroup, but there are some more sensible people in that group; well one would hope. I agree that putting Joe Biden as impeachment insurance, was probably a good move. Will it make a difference, who knows, It's going to be long four years, I'll admit that.

Obama hasn't figured out that the entire country isn't like Chicago. In addition to this issue take a look at Operation Board Games.

It shows that the Feds, as well as the Governor, are well aware of Michelle Obama's numerous pay raises and appointments due to her husbands connections and payments of public money.

The problem for critics of the Clinton administration was that the number of scandals, gaffes, lies and hipocrisies came so fast and furious that it was almost impossible to get any single one of them to stick to a news cycle.

Appears to be the same scenario with Obama.  Reverend Wright, Ayers, Rezko, campaign contributions,  contradictions on NAFTA, firing aides for 'misspeaking' and hiring them back for his administration, the number of issues that his aides have 'misspoke',  number of consultants that were later claimed to never had been consultants, violation of the Logan act, Michelle Obama's compensation increase, refusal to release his college records, refusal to release his medical records, refusal to release his birth certificate and now Blago.

 Information overload.

I suspect that the kind of sense it makes is that shit rolls downhill and kickbacks flow uphill.  The problem wasn't that kickbacks were being kicked back.  The problem was that a mere governor was demanding that the Office of the President Elect pay kickbacks to him.  And Obama doesn't want anyone looking into the whole subject of Chicago political favors too closely vis-a-vis the Office of the President Elect.

Markos - Not a Fan of Egregious Lying About Having Not Met People

Apparently that behavior indicates a pathology. -

From Kos:

Cheney claimed that he had never met Edwards before.

Addressing the National Prayer Breakast, Cheney said: "Thank you. Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends from across America and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I honored to be with you all this morning." [FDCH Political Transcripts, Cheney Remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, 2/1/01]   And then theres this, which should offer up photos at some point soon (and we all know how people need pictures for reality to sink in):   Senator Edwards Escorted Elizabeth Dole When She Was Sworn In As North Carolina's Other Senator. Elizabeth Dole was sworn in as North Carolina's other senator on January 8, 2003. Gannet News Service wrote: "As per Senate tradition, Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., escorted her."

Dole Took The Senate Oath Administered By Vice President Dick Cheney. According to Gannet News Service: "[Dole] raised her right hand and took the oath administered by Vice President Dick Cheney, the Senate president." [Gannet News Service, 1/8/03]

Why would Cheney make a lie so obviously easy to expose? It's almost pathological -- reality need not get in the way of a good zinger.

146 DESPERATE, HYPOCRITICAL REPUBLICAN LOSERS hoping to make ANYTHING stick to the man who STOMPED THEIR ASSES in the election.  Republicans are a joke.  Good riddance to your power assholes.

Hey, Cockholster, I mean Ian, you do realize that Obama is knee deep in Blago fraud?

Ian, do you know who the real estate agent was that pushed through the odd scheme to have Rezko's wife buy an empty lot over market and over appraisal value so that Obama could buy his house at a below market price?

Yes, that's right, Patty Blago.

Who was Obama's primary fundraiser until the presidential election? Rezko.

Who is Blago's primary fundraiser until he went to jail? Rezko.

Wake up, Fool.

149 Let's be specific.  By "contact", he meant, "I did not have sex with that man".

So, that statement is actually correct.  So far as we know.

I get the feeing he had a meeting, which is perfectly fine, but then Blago tried to get him to play ball and Obama probably walked out not wanting anything to do with it and now has to deny the meeting lest he be asked the question:

"What was the context of the meeting?"

Then he would have to answer truthfully or face being called in to a grand jury.

152 pj-- plouff saids you didn't donate enough to really speak on obama's behalf---forgot? gotta pay to play if you want the obama way!

Posted by: nygal at December 11, 2008 01:45 PM (+/c0N)

153 November 5, 2008 - Price (US$) per Unfilled Senate Seat == priceless.

December 1, 2008 - Coleman/Franken recount maintains stratospheric price.

December 2, 2008 - Chambliss' dominant win over Martin causes price to plummet. Price (US$) per Unfilled Senate Seat != priceless.

The most active period of "pay for play" for Obama's open seat would have been between Nov. 5 and Dec.2 which was exactly when Axelrod/Obama would have arranged things with "buffers." Axelrod, on Nov. 23, said Obama had already discussed the Senate appointment with Blagojevich which makes perfect sense when you're looking for that magic supermajority for all of Congress. It's all anyone spoke about post-election (other than how Shamwow Obama was).

Only after December 2 when there was no chance to get an outright supermajority in the Senate would Team Obama decide that making a trade with Blagojevich would not be worth the risk of a dubious deal. That would explain how it came to pass that many dollars and appointments degenerated into an "appreciation" for Blago.

Obama surely had mechanisms in place based on electoral contingencies. Blago became expendable on December 2, 2008. In hindsight Axelrod's revelation on prior discussions about the open seat became toxic on the same day only because Blago's aggravation had been recorded.

Fitzgerald should be having a field day year over all of this.
