Jesse Jackson Sr. Retains Legal Counsel

"An emissary," Blagojevich notes, came to tell him that "Senate Candidate 5" would raise $1 million for him if Blago made Senate Candidate 5 Senator.

Senate Candidate 5 is suspected to be Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Jesse Jackson, Sr. just retained legal counsel.

Is he the "emissary"?

As Requested... The Mighty Slublog's Hairpiece Skull.

The Coming Spin... Anyone see it coming? Let's say this gets worse for Obama and the Jackson Two.

I foresee Chris Matthews informing us that Obama and the Jackson Two were forced to play the game by the rules imposed on them by the White Man's Power Structure in Chicago. Honestly, what else could they do? They had to take big donations and sweetheart sinecures and corporate board postings.

1 Oh please God. This would be such sweet, sweet justice if they got JJSr on tape trying to buy a senate seat for his son the way he did his seat in the House.

6 Before knowing he had retained counsel I had been thinking that it was Jesse Jackson Sr. who talked with Blagojevich on his behalf. Now that he's retained counsel, sounds like we're on the right track.

If it's true I can only pray this finally destroys his credibility so we never have to listen to him again.

OK, first of all I'm confused. So Jesse Jackson Jr. is the son, right? And he's the one trying to get the Senate seat? Or is his dad Jesse Jackson Jr.? And is his dad trying to get the Senate seat for himself, or for his son? I thought I was tracking this but just read this post and feel like I've now gone off the rails.

Also, can someone explain to me how a man who was elected with only 52% of the vote now have an approval rating of 79%? Who the hell are they polling? Because I'm fairly certain that at least 10% of those who voted for him are now experiencing severe buyer's remorse, meaning at best his current approval rating (for doing absolutely nothing but looking serious and spouting rhetoric) is about 42%. Isn't this "approval rating" crap what they did in communist countries and what the dictators in happy places like Zimbabwe and Venezuela are always pulling?

79% approval with a 52% election means people in the middle are giving him a chance even though they preferred someone else.  That can change in a hurry.  When he earns his way down to 51% approval, that'll be news.

Of course, listening to Dick Morris on Fox right now, there's certainly opportunity for leapfrogging downwards.

78 "15 Ah, Jesse, you were once one of the good guys.  King trusted you.  You were there in Memphis for a reason.
Where did it all start to go wrong?"

Right around the time JJ Sr sold his soul for power in the democrat party by switching from pro-life to pro-abortion. JJ Sr is no longer the same man who wrote this:

"There are those who argue that the right to privacy is of [a] higher order than the right to life... that was the premise of slavery. You could not protest the existence or treatment of slaves on the plantation because that was private and therefore outside your right to be concerned. What happens to the mind of a person, and the moral fabric of a nation, that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience? What kind of a person and what kind of a society will we have twenty years hence if life can be taken so casually? It is that question, the question of our attitude, our value system, and our mind-set with regard to the nature and worth of life itself that is the central question confronting mankind. Failure to answer that question affirmatively may leave us with a hell right here on earth."

Senator Pat Geary: Would you expand on your response? I'm interested to know, was there always a buffer involved?
Willie Cicci: A what?
Senator Pat Geary: A buffer. Someone in between you and your possible superiors who passed on to you the actual order to kill someone.
Willie Cicci: Oh yeah, a buffer. The family had a lot of buffers!

It ain't "layers" of nuance anymore... it's "buffers." That's the Chicago way. What idiot does it directly? Don't they know to use payphones with stooges taking the calls while the Boss gets whispers?

Yeah. Team Jackson and Team Obama are clean as the driven snow. No one knows nuthin'.

With primetime TV audience share on the alphabet channels plummeting, all the TV producers need to do is cover this huge story and they'll have reality TV that trumps pretty much everything. Odds are we won't see that happen, but the alphabets have a money tree waiting to be picked.

81 ParanoidInSeattle : Jackson Sr is the Rev we all know and hate. Jackson Jr is his son, who is a Congressman. Jr wants the senate seat Obama warmed. Can't let the golden child go down, he is to big to fail. Fitzgerald leaks to a democrat in the know, say Axelrod, and shazzam we have the Governor cussing him for not playing along. What was it about Obama that made him believe he would play along? This is for all the marbles. If only the Governor goes down, I believe he is being used.

CHICAGO – On the campaign trail, Barack Obama liked to boast that he was a tough survivor of the bare-knuckled world of Chicago politics. But the president-elect also has steered clear of most of its scandals, navigating a careful middle ground that has left him relatively unscathed in a city synonymous with corruption.

Obama has managed to remain mostly — but not entirely — untarnished by local political corruption. Some analysts and former legislative colleagues cite various reasons: his skill, brains and character, his reform-minded base and his path to power, which did not involve climbing through the ranks of the Chicago Democratic Machine.

"Rather than being above the fray, I think he has sidestepped the fray," said Don Rose, a longtime political strategist. "It's a tightrope-walking skill."

Brains? From a guy who claims to have not seen or heard anything ever. Die AP die.

97 President Obama's first act in regard to healthcare better be to get a new hearing plan for senators.

20 years in the church of a racist and 12 years in politics in chicago and he never heard anything?

I hate to be Captain Bringdown on this story, but you know once it gets too hot, or too many people start sitting up and taking note, or it looks like it might touch Obama, the media will find some Republican scandal that they can shine their spotlights on and this story will be buried.   The level of attention this story is getting now will be overwhelmed by the amount the (upcoming) scandal for the "bad guys" (us) will get.

Thus I predict.

Blagojevich questions censored on Transition site

President-elect Barack Obama’s Transition today launched “Open for Questions,” a Digg-style feature allowing citizens to submit questions, and to vote on one another’s questions, bringing favored inquiries to the top of the list.

It was suggested when it launched that the tool would bring uncomfortable questions to the fore, but the results so far are the opposite: Obama’s supporters appear to be using — and abusing — a tool allowing them to “flag” questions as “inappropriate” to remove all questions mentioning Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich from the main pages of Obama’s website.

The Blagojevich questions — many of them polite and reasonable — can be found only by searching words in them, like “Blagojevich,” which produces 35 questions missing from the main page of the site.

The O just needs to start worrying about some of the really important people back in the Chi -- he's got more to worry about from them than any indictments and what not.

And of course everyone else involved has to worry about them too, so it may turn into a mad scramble to "pass the hot potato".  That could get entertaining.

I think Barry has the upper hand, being president elect and so popular and all -- but he still has to worry about the people who really count.  And I don't know what kind of favors he can call in from them anymore -- word is that they've given him a hell of a lot of favors, and he's not exactly doing much in the way of payback right now.  He'd better not give them the idea that he was going to knife them in the back once he got in office...

If Daley's name gets bandied about anymore, then you'll know a certain potentate will need to be watching himself from here on out.  Daley the calf isn't his dad, Daley the bull, but you don't grow up in that family without learning a trick or two.  Word is Daley hasn't been happy with IL's new favorite son for a while now.  Too much publicity is bad for business.

107 I met JJjr. in Seattle in 88 during the dem caucuses. I was drunk as a fucking monkey, it was my senior year in high school and I ate half the food on the courtesy table at the jackson headquarters. I think he saw me puke on the sidewalk outside. It was the perfect topper for watching his dad get his ass kicked. I cornered him for 5 minutes slurring drunken nonsense. I'll bet he enjoyed the puke breath.

110 Looks like Blowjobevich told president-elect motherf****r to f**k off again.

CHICAGO – His career in shreds, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich clung defiantly to power Wednesday, ignoring a call to step down from President-elect Barack Obama and a warning that Senate Democrats will not let him appoint a new senator from the state.

Ensconced in his downtown office, Blagojevich gave no sign he was contemplating resigning, and dispatched his spokeswoman, Kelley Quinn, to say it was "business as usual" in his 16th-floor suite, situated a few blocks from Obama's transition headquarters.

If a two bit punk like Blago, who is in a world of trouble, will thumb his nose at Barry I can imagine that guys like Putin can barely wait to pimp slap Barry around at will.

wow,. I should tell the bosses at the job I applied for today I'm coming in with a 100% approval rating.

That's a big problem today.  People believe that they start at 100% and work downward.  Kids in school especially believe this.  They have been coddled for so long that they honestly believe that they deserve the highest possible grade without actually doing the work necessary.
