Cutting Through the Crap Regarding the Religion of Perpetual Psychopathic Aggrievement

More apologism from the left, and a fiery response to such excuse-making:

It didn’t take long before the apologist industry was cranked up to explain the latest terrorist outrage in Bombay. Joshua Kurlantzick at the New Republic suggested that “After years of moderation, India’s Muslims—including even some middle-class Muslims—finally may be striking back at the discrimination stacked against them.” A piece in Time chimed in by noting that “the roots of Muslim rage run deep in India, nourished by a long-held sense of injustice....” So falls into place the usual response of Western liberals to any acts of intolerant savagery committed by Muslim “militants” —that it is somehow in some way caused by those they attacked, that “Muslim rage” over their mistreatment leads Muslims to slaughter Hindus, Jews, Christians, Orthodox Russians and even thoroughly secular Europeans.

...

Some intrepid, politically incorrect soul might even have the temerity to draw attention to the fact the Islamic terrorists seemed to have grievances against just about everybody, every ethnic or religious group that isn’t Muslim along with all those Muslims who refuse to fall in line with the Islamist project. Muslim terrorists have, after all, killed far more Muslims than non-Muslims in the past decade.

The sheer diversity of it all is part of the problem. There are so many rag-tag Muslim terrorist groups launching so many attacks based on such a bewildering array of grievances—infidels in the land of Mecca and Medina, the existence of Israel, disputes over Kashmir, Russian colonialism in Chechnya, etc. —that we bend ourselves into pretzels trying to define them all as understandable responses to mistreatment.

We are left to wonder why Muslims here, there and everywhere seem to be so badly mistreated and respond to such mistreatment in such drearily predictable fashion, which is to blow other people (and sometimes themselves ) up.

I'd quote more but I think they rapped me last time I ran an extended quote from them. Read the whole thing. It's worth it.

At Least Time They Mostly Did Property Damage: Like fellow "militant" Bill Ayers, I guess, who also mostly did property damage:

Pakistani militants attacked a parked convoy of trucks carrying military vehicles for Western forces in Afghanistan near Peshawar early on Sunday, destroying 96 trucks, police said.

Security guards said they were overpowered by more than 200 militants who attacked two terminals on the ring road round the northwestern city of Peshawar, where the trucks carrying Humvees and other military vehicles were parked.

"It happened at around 2.30 a.m. They fired rockets, hurled hand grenades and then set ablaze 96 trucks," senior police officer Azeem Khan told Reuters.

Most of the fuel and other supplies for U.S. and NATO forces in landlocked Afghanistan are trucked through Pakistan, much of it through the mountainous Khyber Pass between Peshawar, capital of North-West Frontier Province and the border town of Torkham.

Khan said one private security guard was killed in an exchange of fire between police and the militants.

"They were shouting Allah-o-Akbar (God is Great) and Down With America. They broke into the terminals after snatching our guns," said Mohammad Rafiullah, security guard at one terminal.

Of course they were.

8 I must have missed the memo that proved Islam is of any value whatsoever to the great portion of the human race that is not Muslim. Seriously, is there any value created by this "religion" at all? Unless you think Islam's truth claims are valid, I don't see how you can answer that question with a "yes". Honestly, the continued existence of the belief system "Islam" is of no positive value to me. Is any individual "better" because of a belief in the tenets of Islam and, if so, are those tenets unique to Islam, or could they be found in some less virulent form of belief?

Following our last visit to Faridkot, the mayor, Wattoo, announced via the loudspeaker at the mosque that no one was to speak to any outsiders. By yesterday, Pakistani intelligence officials had descended in force on Faridkot. Locals, speaking by telephone, said a Pakistani TV crew and an American journalist had been roughed up and run out of town. It appeared that the backlash had begun.

But maybe part of the problem is the timidity with which the Muslim world—a usage that, in itself, sparks curiosity, since there are no Christian-world or Hindu-world counterparts—responds to the savages within its midst.

Muslims are proud of the power they now have and the fear they now inspire in everyone else.  Muslims everywhere can feel that they have a new found respect they did not have before.

The only way this can be diminished is if the world changes its mind about appeasing Islam and becomes as determined and relentless.  And it will take another fifty years to decide the fate of the world.  Christianity and Islam will both be here then, but the fate of both will be quite different than it is today.

13

Mumbai was probably an Al Qaeda-inspired operation to draw Pakistan and India into conflict, thereby drawing Pakistani forces to the Indian border and from the tribal areas and Baluchistan.  Thereby allowing Al Qaeda and Taliban free reign on the Afghan border.  It's that simple.

Remember this: more Muslims have been killed by Al Qaeda/Salafist terrorism than any other group.  Think of all the Afghans, Iraqis, Pakistanis and others killed by car bombs in markets, along with members of the security forces.

Posted by: icus at December 07, 2008 06:08 PM (mOFr4)

14 One thing Muslims fear is a boycott of their business everywhere.  Muslim rage could turn inward if it found that people everywhere in the world began to boycott Muslim owned businesses every time there was a terror attack.  Muslims would be forced to lean on those at home that they know are causing trouble.  Instead of sending uncle Achkmed his tribute every month that goes straight to Hamas, he might get an angry letter telling him to knock it off before the business goes bankrupt on account of an outraged public boycotting it.  And people on the street do not have to actually do anything, just simply not patronize Muslim business.

Posted by: 7HEAVENS at December 07, 2008 06:09 PM (kmsPh)

15 If injustice causes Muslim rage, how does that explain bombings by Muslims in Muslim countries? Shouldn't they all be veritable Islamic utopias? You know, the kind that the Left wants to have?

Posted by: shibumi at December 07, 2008 06:11 PM (tZB/c)

16

This becomes even  more ludicrous when one realizes that the whole point of the 1946-47 partition of India from Pakistan is that Pakistan was intended for Muslims and India for Hindus!

Mohammed Ali Jinnah, who insisted on partition against Gandhi's and Nehru's wishes, was adamant that all Muslims on the Indian subcontinent belonged in either East or West Pakistan. The bloodshed that followed was because even after they had a state of their own, India's Muslims were determined to Islamize the whole of the subcontinent. Sound like anyone you know?

Can Joshua Kurlantzick dress himself or does he need help?

18 Time to bring back a slightly more benign version of the colonial powers with the U.S. included in the mix this time. Not too benign , though. Pakistan and Zimbabwe would both benefit from a whiff of grapeshot and a few judicious hangings.
