More Detail on Hypoethesized WMD Attacks: Scenario Envisions Anthrax Sprayed in Five Cities

A bipartisan commission empanelled by Congress released a report today saying that terrorists are likely to carry out a weapons-of-mass-destruction attack somewhere in the world in the next five years.
The commission concluded that the terrorists are more likely to use biological weapons than nuclear weapons and that the United States is not prepared for such an attack.
In one scenario envisioned by the president’s Homeland Security Council, the commission reports, terrorists driving a truck with a concealed sprayer would infect five different U.S. metropolitan areas with anthrax in two waves of attacks conducted two weeks apart.
“The Commission believes that unless the world community acts decisively and with great urgency, it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013,” says the report.

Over 10,000 dead, the scenario projects.

1 I remember hearing some expert on TV or radio stating that it was unlikely that the US would be hit by terrorists with a nuke. His reasoning was that it would be so much simpler and cheaper to hit us with a dirty bomb and the effect would be just as great. We would panic not knowing how far the contagion had spread, whether it was in the water, whether it was in our food, that our economy could not survive such as attack. Anthrax could work the same way.

And the Black Sheriff, (not Sheriff Bart, let me whip this out) insisted that we not profile, and in fact should look for a white christian in a white van. Turned out to be a couple of black guys (Muslim, who would have guessed) in a sedan.
With proper funding and trading out weapons and disposing of them properly, they would never have been caught.

Dozens ,if not hundreds, of terrorists plots have been broken up. If anyone can believe the news, the U.S. told India they were going to be attacked and how. India had hit the snooze button as the democrats in this country do all the time. I'm quite terrified over the probability that these efforts will be nipped in the bud right after January 20th lest anyone think that we're trouncing on somebody's civil liberties.

Worry not, however. Barack Obama will respond to any attack with the most vigorous police investigation the ACLU will allow. Afterwards, of course. As soon as the smoke clears and the "crime scene" becomes habitable again.

Sure, there's a benefit to hitting the five largest cities, but I think it was quite the shock when Oklahoma City was attacked, too. I remember comments about attacking the heartland and that attacking OKC was like picking on someone's little brother or kicking a dog. Would it make a bigger statement if a large portion of a small city was eliminated?

25 Personally, I think their study is bullshit. Anthrax occurs naturally. A certain percentage of the population has immunity to it. The anthrax spore is 'weaponized' to the extent that it's more highly concentrated...........which if sprayed out of a truck in an unnoticeable manner would mean that you're "un-concentrating" it.

I'm with Kev, if it does work, can we try it out on: Washington, DC, New York, Los Angles, Miami and New Orleans. That way we can cure several problems at one time.
