To get you started this morning, the indictments cooked up by the outgoing, deranged Willacy County DA, Juan Angel Guerra, have been dismissed. VP Cheney, former AG Gonzales, two district judges, two special prosecutors, and the district clerk are off the hook.

Christoph continues to win friends and influence people. (Scroll up to read C's humble comments. Don't worry about the Canadian constitutional crisis yet, we won't know how it pans out until next Monday or, depending on some things, January.)

3 Okay, wait, lemme get this straight, anyone who has money in Vanguard is supporting prisoner abuse?  Well, hell, now I know where I'm going to invest!

On this day in 1942 the world’s first nuclear reactor was started up underneath a squash court in Chicago. It was started with no shielding, no coolant (other than air), a charcoal moderator thus having a positive moderator temperature coefficient, and the only safety system was a cadmium coated control rod hung from a rope with a man standing by with an ax. He was the infamous Single Control Rod Ax Man (SCRAM).

Imagine doing that in today’s political environment.

WASHINGTON – The nation's governors are meeting with President-elect Barack Obama on Tuesday to press their case for at least $40 billion to help pay for health care for the poor and disabled and even more for infrastructure projects like road and bridge repair.

They're likely to get a sympathetic ear.

"Without federal help ... what we will have to do is just make continuing cuts and/or raise taxes, both of which would have a further deleterious effect on our states' economy. We simply need help," Rendell told reporters on Monday. "When the economy is bad, the social service net demands grow."

Help us lord Obama!!! Save us from our own ineptness, outright stupidity and rigid adherence to wasteful government spending. Oh wait, lord Obama only offers more of that too.

6 Under this nutter's theory, I also could be indicted for war crimes because I own shares in Vanguard. Jeesh!

I keep hearing this “infrastructure” refrain from the Commiecrats after that bridge in MN collapsed. I know a way they can increase infrastructure spending by 20% without any problem. Just repeal the law they passed back in the 80s that requires 20% of all federal gasoline taxes to be fed to inner-city mass transit. This is nothing more than a stealth socialism campaign anyway.

The cities were already spending money on subsidized buses and when the federal law was passed it allowed them to shift that money to social programs for uncles, nephews and other relatives while the feds financed the buses.

And if they are really serious, they can make sure that ALL future highway bills are dedicated to like highways and not pork.   Now that would be serious.

As it is, all they do is pass more tax increases for “infrastructure” and then spend it on something else and create this vicious tax circle. Taxing for “infrastructure” is only out bullshitted by the other infamous tax slogan, “do it for the kids”.

9 If it goes into a general fund, it can be raided by other departments. Another thing they do in their shell game is to make loans to other depts. that are later "forgiven". There is a third way they rip you off but I forgot what it was.

Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama bet on an unprecedented surge of new voters to carry him to victory last month. He won without the record turnout.

About 130 million Americans voted, up from 122 million four years ago. Still, turnout fell short of the 140 million voters many experts had forecast. With a little more than 61 percent of eligible voters casting ballots, the 2008 results also didn’t match the record 63.8 percent turnout rate that helped propel President John f. Kennedy to victory in 1960.

“I was very surprised on election night as I was seeing the totals as they were mounting,” said Rhodes Cook, a turnout and voting-behavior expert in Virginia.

Gee, the "experts" were wrong again.

A depressed Republican vote probably accounts for a large measure of the smaller-than-forecast turnout numbers.

In 2004, both parties “did a great job” in turning out their voters, Cook said. This time, Democrats mobilized 9 million more voters than in the previous election, while the Republican support dropped by 3 million votes.

“The Democrats did their job in terms of voter turnout, but the Republicans did not do their job,” Cook said.

That particularly may have helped Obama in Ohio. McCain received 275,000 fewer votes than President George W. Bush did in 2004, while Obama topped Kerry’s total by 43,000 votes.

So the massive change/hope love fest on November 4 was nothing more than Republicans staying at home?

And the police called to a "little blue pill" related domestic dispute. It wasn't a stick up... or it was a stick up, depending on your point of view.

15 I checked out a book from the library yesterday called the Candy Bombers. It's about the Berlin Airlift but the title refers to a side story about how one of the pilots started dropping candy from his plane for kids. This was against regulations. He was able to keep it quiet until a candy bar hit a reporter in the head.

Anyway, his superiors thought it would be good pr and it was. The commie bastards made life truly miserable. This small gesture which started out with 2 sticks of gum gave a lot of kids and their parents hope. The Berlin Airlift was quite a feat and just one of those things Americans do. Link

19 General Motors Corp., asking for as much as $18 billion to keep afloat and survive even worse economic storms, painted the direst portrait to date of what could happen if Congress doesn’t quickly step in.

No thank you.  As much as I like having my nation slowly consumed by the illuminati socialist fire of the new government, I'm going to have to pass.
