Overnight/Thanksgiving Eve Thread (genghis)

A little something to relieve the tension. Comment at will.

File photo of a traditional Thanksgiving meal

Enough bad news for one day. Please have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Added note: When slaying your drunken cousin at the table over some trivial argument, try using the battery-operated carving gizmo that Dad bought back in '73 rather than the standard carving knife. I suspect it's much more efficient and leaves fewer blood spatters on the turkey and side dishes. It's all about ettiquette. However the hell that word is spelled.

8 Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Addams Family Values:
Wednesday: You have taken the land which is rightfully ours. Years from now my people will be forced to live in mobile homes on reservations. Your people will wear cardigans, and drink highballs. We will sell our bracelets by the road sides, you will play golf, and enjoy hot hors d'oeuvres. My people will have pain and degradation. Your people will have stick shifts. The gods of my tribe have spoken. They have said, "Do not trust the Pilgrims, especially Sarah Miller."
Amanda: Gary, she's changing the words.
Wednesday: And for all these reasons I have decided to scalp you and burn your village to the ground.

33 Shannon...
I would have totally missed your response in the earlier thread had I not  gone searching for some epic thumping of christoph.  My ADD kicks in prematurely when I see a thread 300 comments long, and so I usually miss his profligate jackassery.  While I will joke with them a bit, I give my Canadian friends some slack having to live there.  It's like that movie 30 days of night, except the vampires are called liberals.  And they can't flee south b/c it is US policy to only accept dirt-poor, non-English-speaking, uneducated, undocumented individuals.  I'd probably be skittish and desperate for outside contact too.  He did criticize your 'low-blow' by going into the gutter, however.  And that was uncalled for.  He even dared Drew to ban him.  Dumbass.

No one mentioned the collar at all at any point in the show, even when he was wearing it.  It was like everyone was completely oblivious to it.  He didnt take it off until just before Colmes - aka the bastard child of Beavis and Butthead (Beavhead?) - came on.  I'm watching Red Eye and here is Greg, wearing some S&M spike collar, yelling "how do I get you to be quiet!" to Bill.  Monica is off to the side, laughing, wearing what could only be described as dominatrix-themed evening wear.  It could only leave me to think Mistress Monica punished slave boy Greg for forgetting the ball gag.  Leaving that mystery unresolved was like television blueballing.  I felt like I just watched an episode of 24 and have to wait until 2 minutes into the next episode for the nuclear explosion.

Shannon, I've always gone out of my way to be nice to Cristoph, but he can be pretty damn excessive.  I have no idea why he got so mad at you or others, or what's behind his lack of perspective (this is the fucking internet... it's not important).

Anyway, thanks for putting him in his place.  He goes out of his way to disrespect others and provoke responses, and it shows that he's got some issues to tackle.  I'm sure you're right that he's a nightmare in person.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Here's some good news - the MSM is finally reporting on Obama's questionable citizenship and the Supreme Court review on December 5th.  Please feel free to go to MSNBC and comment:

DUO TAKE OBAMA BIRTH CHALLENGE TO COURT

 by Domenico Montanaro, MSNBC

From NBC’s Pete Williams
When the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court meet on Dec. 5th, in their regular private conference to decide which cases to hear, two lawsuits that have captivated a segment of the blogosphere will be up for discussion.

Both urge the court to consider claims that President-elect Obama is not qualified to be president, because he is not a natural-born American citizen.

Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution provides that "No person except a natural born citizen" is eligible to be president. John McCain's status was questioned because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone and various theories have been advanced to cast doubt on Obama's.

Pennsylvania lawyer Philip Berg claims that the circumstances of Obama's birth are vague and that he may have been born in Kenya. Obama's mother, Berg asserts, later flew to Hawaii to register the birth...

55

Happy thanksgiving, all.

And here's to many KosKiddies heads exploding, although...

I'm crunk and babbling.  As much as I would love for the fucking idiots of America to get the government they so justly deserve, I hope and pray that badness will not befall us, and that our Armed Forces will continue to act in a professional matter.  I contiuously dream of mowing down the crews of CNN and MSNBC live on air, and subverting their tremendous broadcast and bandwidth to air the things that they would never choose to.  But at the end of the day I don't; not neccesarily because one man alone can't put together the logistical supply chain and could not execute a plan of such magnitude, but because they are fellow AmCits.

I live in Seattle.  I foster a lot of enmity to my fellow "Americans".  When I was deployed iso OIF I, my own parents had a "No Iraq War" sign up in the front yard.  First thing I saw coming home, actually.

But that's what seperates from the petty dictatorships in the world - the ability to let it go.  Other people have other opinions.  I rant and rave at work, trying to bring my view to the front, but at the end of the day I realize they have just as much a right to live here in the US as I do; they are "the protected".  I hope and pray they will one day be enlightened, but until then, I will uphold my end of the bargain.

I give thanks for America, and for the freedoms I enjoy; for the land I will raise my two children in.  For the systems we have, however imperfect; for our ideals and lofty goals, may we never lose sight of.  For the peaceful transfer of power.  For the consent of the justly governed.  For the right of all men to be created equal, and for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Here's to America.

57 Happy Thanksgiving to all who read here (including Christoph, whose Thanksgiving was last month) and especially to my fellow Cook County dwellers:  red souls in the Blue Zone Heart of Darkness.

(BTW, I looked up the vote totals for Cook County: there were 338,400 votes for McCain-Palin, or 32% of the total.  Not enough, but not a shabby number either.)

We're going to have a nice weekend.  Three of my five children are here (including George the Marine about whom TastyBeverage said such flattering things  ;-) ).  We are having a kosher turkey with a most unkosher sausage-and-apple stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, homemade pumpkin pie - the works.

That's definitely not arugula in the picture -  it looks more like a tender young leaf of red butter lettuce with a little spray of some exotic fine-leaf chicory.
