AWESOME! Craptastic Immigration "Reform" Coming Soon!

I have a question for you...would you like a bite of the 'comprehensive immigration reform' shit sandwich? Ha! It's a trick question. No one cares if you want it or not, you're going to get it.

And guess who is going to feed it to you...John McCain.

So says Harry Reid.

Q. With more Democrats in the Senate and the House and a Democrat in the White House, how do you see congressional efforts playing out on such issues as health care and immigration?

A: On immigration, there's been an agreement between (President-elect Barack) Obama and (Arizona Republican Sen. John) McCain to move forward on that. ... We'll do that. We have to get this economy stuff figured out first, so I think we'll have a shot at doing something on health care in the next Congress for sure.

Q: Will there be as much of a fight on immigration as last time?

A: We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all.

They'll be a fight alright, it's just the numbers of opponents and leverage we have is less than last time and that was a near run thing as it was. This time? Let's just say at this point optimism isn't exactly the order of the day.

Don't worry McCain, you just do what you do best (screw and attack Republicans) and you'll be back in the good graces of those you care most about much faster than you think. I'm guessing we'll start seeing pieces saying 'This is the John McCain we knew and loved!' in places like the NY Times and Newsweek just before Christmas.

1 What's better for the economy than creating more entitlements that must be shouldered by state/local taxpayers and flooding the market with cheap labor and driving down wages?

Dwindling natural resources such as water, oil and gas, and forestland, unemployment near 7%, and local-county-state budgets going bankrupt, and we're about to ADD 20 million people to the public teet! Brilliant!

McCain has said he supports only enforcement first, amnesty sometime later. If he changes his mind again back to amnesty first, fuck him.

Its cute that you actually believed him.

I expect a nice little run around on this.  The wording will require "enforcement first" and building a fence and all that.  But they'll likely stick amnesty on some form of timetable, so they can basically defund the enforcement aspect that will make some senators feel ok about voting for it, and just let the amnesty happen.

It wasn't enough to allow the Dims to blame the FM/FM financial crisis on the Republicans and say nothing.

Now the useless old backstabber is going to let the Dims use him as point man an stunningly unpopular piece of legislation. Putting a Republican face on it.

Yay!

Does anyone really take this dried up old yahoo seriously anymore?

GOP please relieve this guy of any party positions he might hold. He's way past his sell-by date and stinking up the place.

If I recall correctly 70% of the people, regardless of party, opposed the last shit sandwich on amnesty. The cards and letters flooded in and it got ditched. I am hoping the same happens now except that I see conservatives being so disheartened that they may sit this one out as well.

This is one problem with this kind of shit. No matter how many times it gets defeated it keeps coming back. I guess we need a National Border Association” (NBA) to fight this shit every time it comes up.

At least we know now how long it took McLame to reach around the aisle again once the Vomit went into office. You can measure it in negative numbers. I can not believe that the asshole of the Party got the nomination.

14 The immigration problem will be somewhat alleviated by the coming depression in the US. On the downside, the depression is likely to hit the entire world economy, so immigrants will probably still come.

McCain probably shares the same delusion Bush does: that with a magic wand these immigrants will become Republicans.

They base this on the fact that most Mexicans have "conservative" family values, but hasn't the decades long experience with Blacks taught them anything?

With this legislation, the Democrats would become (à la Canada's Liberals) the Natural Governing Party of the United States.

I'll say this much for the Dems - they do their best to pay back their supporters when they win. Unlike the Republicans, who spent their years in power trying to shaft their own base.

For all you hard working Mexicans who want to come to the US legally, you just got cut in line 20 million times.

Why do unions monolithically vote democrat knowing that they are more in favor of things that undermine everything that they stand for?  Answer: because unions are there for only one reason, to graft as much money off of their members as possible.

Why do democrats clamor for a higher minimum wage and then turn a blind eye to everyone that violates it?

Any business large or small who gets caught hiring people without filing W-2s, paying under the table, paying less than minimum wage, not paying social security, not paying workers comp insurance....should lose their business license on the first offense.  They all signed a document proving that they are aware of these requirements so ignorance is no excuse.

Excellent. If done right, even a loss will be a victory, for the goal is to entirely discredit the political class and the legitimacy of the United States Goverment as an impartial enforcer of the law that is blind to the ethinic identities of its citizens.

25 All this wouldn't be an issue if people would go out and ask "reform" proponents questions on video for Youtube. If the questions are weak it won't have much of an impact. However, if the questions are good, it will make those proponents look bad and have an impact on their careers. Most will learn their lesson.

Unfortunately, I'm about the only person who's been urging people to do that, and some people have even been trying to discourage people from asking politicians questions, for some reason or other.

26 If people really want to bring more immigrants to the US, then they'd be arguing to open up immigration to most everyone including Hungary, Australia, Brazil, Russia, and so on.

Instead they're completely dishonest by only arguing about Mexicans.  If the US opens immigration to the rest of the world, then lets see how many Mexicans people want to hire, when the alternative is a pool of educated and possibly English speaking immigrants.

With this legislation, the Democrats would become (à la Canada's Liberals) the Natural Governing Party of the United States.

And our Red Tory [RINO] Prime Minister of the 1980s, Brian Mulroney, thought that he could gain the immigrant vote through abandoning entrance standards and pushing Family Reunification hoping to turn e.g. Toronto's Jamaicans into loyal Progressive Conservative voters. Twenty years later and Toronto has a now-permanent Jamaican crime problem; they don't vote much and when they do, it's for the leftists.

I'm sure flooding the labor market with cheap labor will be very popular in a time of recession and high unemployment.

On the bright side, this gives us a chance to try to split up much of the democratic caucus in both the house and senate, because many of those that won their seats in the last two years did so by running as conservative democrats, with toughness on immigration being one of their planks.  We'll see how badly they want to preserve their seats.

We have just had an election. This issue of "comprehensive reform" was not brought before the people--instead it was barely mentioned. For it to be one of the first items to be brought up merely confirms me in my belief that today's reprensentatives in fact do not view themselves as representing the interests and opinions of their constituencies, but as dukes and lords who have been handed the keys to the feudal manor via election and now have all rights to rule over their little fiefdoms as they see fit. They view themselves as rulers, us as  the ruled. How else to explain the repeated occurrence of this bill which has repeatedly failed and is acknowledged by even its proponents as unpopular? Only a contempt for the people could explain an attempt to ram it down again--a contempt for their opinions, a contempt for their values of decency and fair play, and a contempt for the idea of this as a nation of laws, not of men, nor of ethnic groups.

This is not an inconsequential bill--it essentially dramatically reforms the makeup of the populace of the United States of America. It also enshrines as a high principle that certain favored identity groups will, in fact, be favored by those who make the law in ways that other groups will not, as long as they meet certain socially acceptable criteria. It does fundamental violence to the idea of a nation of citizens, Americans all, every man the equal of any other--for it will be done solely because one party finds one ethnic group to be a reliable source of votes, enabled by the fact that the forces of political correctness have used American's own decency against them by causing them to refrain from speaking up against what seems on its face logically unsupportable--approval of the wholesale rejection of rules and procedures for not the *first* time, but the *second* time--lest they be called racist.

If the lawmakers wished to make such a fundamental decision for the American Republic they should have brought it up during the campaign season recently passed, in a manner consistent with the spirit of popular sovereignity, so that the people themselves could have a say. In this Republic, at the end of the day the people, not Harry Reid or John McCain or Barry Obama are sovereign. The political class did not bring up this issue, and therefore, having missed their chance, they should turn their attention to vigilantly enforcing the laws on the books.

Or is vigilant enforcement of the law only useful when it is done against conservative interests?

It's time for the Re-Call McCain campaign to begin.

Though it is a matter for the people of the state of Arizona, I personally would be appreciative. But once again, it is their concern--however, if they continually return a man to Congress who so willfully chooses to disregard the common opinion on the subject, then I can only conclude that the people of the state in general support both amnesty and the "come hell or high water" tactics that have been associated with it. I would them have to start basing my economic choices related to the state of Arizona with this point in mind, for I am truly tired of this issue and it is becoming obivous that only threatening bloody civil strife is going to put this thing to an end without a victory for the amnesty crowd. So be it, then. Where does Arizona stand?
