The Money Hole

Old, but new again.

In The Know: Should The Government Stop Dumping Money Into A Giant Hole?

Allah wants an expected total cost and estimate of chances for success.

I think we all do. When we were talking about the trivial (ahem) sum of $700 billion, that seemed like a pretty cheap cost to avoid an economic meltdown which could cost trillions.

But now we're talking trillions in costs. So what do the trillions of cost actually buy us?

And what is the additional cost imposed if we keep pledging all this money to further bailouts and it still doesn't work, thus not only leaving us with a bankrupted economy but a bankrupted government as well?

2 I have come to the conclusion that the politicians are actively trying to destroy this country.  I refuse to believe that anyone with the intelligence of a grapefruit could be so stupid as to actually believe the shit they espouse.

3 I dunno, it sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Bailouts now are soley to allow time for the golden parachutes to be crafted so that they don't look like golden parachutes.

5 Sadly, I'm more OK with the idea of a money hole than with the government throwing money at corporations that are "too big to fail." At least the money hole seems more honest....

6 $700 billion here, $700 billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money.

Clark: How much do I owe you?
Mechanic 1: How much you got?
Clark: No, I'm asking how much the repairs are.
Mechanic 1: I'm asking how much you got.
Clark: You're out of your mind. Look, I don't have time to fool around so how much is it?
Mechanic 1: [waving a wrench] All of it, boy!
Clark: What does the sheriff think of your business practice?
[Mechanic 1 laughs and shows Clark his sheriff's badge]

"I told you Barry will make you pay."

Michelle Obama did tell us we were going to have to give up some of our pie.  She just didn't specifiy that we'd each pretty much have to give up our WHOLE pie.

She also didn't say it would be George Bush's admin that would commit our pie to other people's needs.  Good grief - where are the guys in the white hats anymore.  We've been betrayed!

13 They were just setting the hook with the first seven hundred billion.  Now the real fleecing begins.  Look sometimes you have to hurt before you get better.  In this case we're going to have to hurt a good bit.  All these cures are just making things worse, and may have all ready made a huge problem catastrophic.  But hey, the Wall street boys got their money and the car makers are going to get their bread.  they'll be able to afford the gated communities that protect them from every one else.  That's what counts.

14 Oh and the fact that most of these financial experts who are bending us over right now have conned themselves as badly as they have conned us isn't much consolation.

16 OK. Just to pick this up where we left it during the original bailout BS, can we all finally agree that the cure for market problems is not varying doses of socialism?
