Automated Blogger Personality Test

This is that "INTP" type thing that I never heard of before I got online. I swear, I really want to stop hearing about it.

I hate to be sexist two posts in a row, but man, are women fascinated by the Myers-Briggs dealio.

But as far as the automated software: I think it's pretty accurate. I took one of these tests before and I think I was an INTP. Or at least some of those letters were in there.

3 I was given an official Myers Briggs' Test and was an INTP as well.  Take me to your leader.

4 ENTP

Like I give a shit about this horseshit.  One of my law professors told us we should analyze juries using this stuff.  Some of her ideas about that were interesting, but it's obviously completely impossible to do, and yeah, she was a she.

I took the MMPI and later on was trained on it and the grading of it. The Physiatrist who taught the class said that he had to rezero the norms for ex-Navy Nukes because we all came up crazy compared to the general population.

I'm an ENTP. Off the chart E.

8 "I hate to be sexist two posts in a row, but man, are women fascinated by the Myers-Briggs dealio."

I'm an INTP myself. My mother has been into this for at least a decade, and generally drives me batty with her continued referencing. That, and Color Me Beautiful.

My G*D, woman, let me where Black.

But here is an observation:

Im pretty sure, mathematically, the Myers-Briggs matrix is the Quaternions, as in the 3d graphics and Einstein's Relativity Quaternions.

Myers-Briggs is the same logic, but accessed through verbal descriptions instead of spacial and geometric intuition.

Can anyone confirm that?

Posted by: LiveFreeOrDie at November 24, 2008 04:02 PM (q6zPc)

9 Allah is definitely INTP.  You struck me as less so.

10 I took a real, sit-down 80min long Meyers-Briggs test in college for some School of Psychology study.

ENTJ all the way.  Compare your lives to mine and then kill yourselves.

Posted by: Techie at November 24, 2008 04:09 PM (EVMm7)

11 I'm an ENTJ... sometimes an INFJ. Interesting that there are sevaeral N people here, statistically,  I think something like only 30% of the population are N's.

/it also means that most people can't follow the conversation of an N, mostly because they speak in  a verbally complex manner. Either that or they have stupid friends.

Posted by: shibumi at November 24, 2008 04:10 PM (tZB/c)

12 My husband and I were both Myers-Briggs tested and both came out INTJ. He didn't believe I was one and had me tested again!

Still INTJ -- much to his chagrin. We're both evil, but I am far better at pretending to be not hate everyone. I obviously fooled him well enough.

Posted by: Chris at November 24, 2008 04:17 PM (0KuYt)

14 I did it on a single post from my blog that had all my own words (no block-quoted text) and I came out as an ESTP (doer).  Then I ran my whole blog through and came out as an ISTP (mechanic).

But most people just say I'm an ASHL (asshole).

Posted by: Eric at November 24, 2008 04:17 PM (quZLX)

15 Vic,

Us nukes really tend to skew results, don't we?

The MMPI facilitators we had (at Navy nuke instructor school) said most everyone who came through were smart enough to manipulate the tests to give the result they thought was desired. They were overwhelmingly ISTJ (IIRC).

Reminds me of the standard ELT joke (the guys who monitored the water quality for the primary reactor plant, for those of you not in-the-know). If you ask them what the chemistry results were for the day, they'd reply, "What do you want them to be?" [Because they could make the numbers say anything necessary...running the gamut from 'everything's fine' to 'Uh, oh, we're fucked']

CC

They are giving the MMPI in Nuke School now???

It, or something like it, was a federal requirement for Operations personnel at civilian sites when I hired on. Now everyone has to take it.

When I went for my SRO license we had to take a 40 hour course on it from a Physiatrist. It was part of a requirement to be able to recognize aberrant behavior.

Posted by: Vic at November 24, 2008 04:30 PM (Qd7GC)

18 Vic,

They give it at instructor school. And at the Senior Enlisted Academy.

And pretty much any other "leadership" school where there is fluff time in the schedule. It was quite a fad some years ago. I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say I've taken it five times in the Navy.

The Navy has gone overboard in nannyism/babysitting. That's the part I was happiest to leave behind when I retired.

I think that the INTPs and the ENTPs would be the most fun to be around. Lot's of new ideas and unconventional thinking.

I also find it interesting that the vast, vast majority of posters here fit into "the rationals" group. They are really only about 5 to 10 percent of the population.

Apparently, we ESTPs are the very best at manipulating others. Like I didn't know that. And, the good news is that, for the most part, I'm in good company: JFK, FDR, Patton, Teddy Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Hemmingway, Evita Perron, and um, uh...the Donald, Madonna and Grace Slick.

I can live with that. Of course, if they're evaluating the old posts on my landing page, they're mixing a serious post about Al Qaeda and another goofy post about Cold Stone Creamery and those obscene Herbal Essences shampoo commercials.

I wonder what the finding would be if either of those posts were evaluated independently.

Oh, and on the other writing eval, my blog was determined to be, with 76% certainty, written by a man. So, maybe they don't know what the hell they're talking about afterall.
