Verizon Fires Employees for Snooping Obama's Cellphone Records; Helen Jones-Kelley Continues Serving Out Her Two Month Partially-Paid Vacation

Funny that Verizon doesn't recognize a "sudden fame" exception.

Verizon Wireless has fired the workers tied to the breach of records for a cell phone used by Barack Obama, according to CNN.

A source told CNN on Friday about the firings. The source wouldn't say how many people were involved. The workers had been placed on leave earlier this week during Verizon's internal investigation.

So is Verizon more serious about protecting people from invasions of privacy than Governor Ted Strickland, or is Barack Obama objectively a person more deserving of protection?

Thanks to someone.

1 Isn't the governor up for re-election in 2010? Is he that confident in all the illegals registered that he's not worried about angering people over this? Are the people in Ohio even awake?

Not only is that a rhetorical question, it's RACIST.

You're welcome.

Soon, however, it will be open season on the rest of us.

Just part of the normal double standard. Also, if sued, Verizen would have to foot the bill whereas the OH civil service admin will pay for any damages awarded. In other words, the OH taxpayer will foot the bill, not the bitch who is currently on a taxpayer subsidized vacation. She is probably drawing unemployment benefits as well.

5 I wonder if the Verizon people found Larry Sinclair's number on the log.

7 Eh Verizon is just being smart. while as OH isnt going to be sued by the federal govt , they only have to worry about Joe suing (and its not their money that would be paid out), Verizon runs the risk of a federal suit, and somethign tells me if something actually damaging came out, the manchild woulda thrown a tanrum with the full force of the Fed

8 I work  for a telecom that starts with V. I didn't mention this before, but our Security fires people daily for this stuff. It is almost always people checking on an exs', or soon to be exs', account. They sometimes get a co-worker to do it so they don't have their fingerprints on the account. But in the middle of a divorce, etc..., what are you going to do with this illegally obtained info. Yes, he's calling some chick 4 towns over. Constantly. So what? Get fired for info you can't use. Yup. Every day. A first level manager made this decision, not a big honcho. Not much of a stretch, if you want a secure and private network that people can trust.....Government work? From now on, nobody can trust them. Ever.

Anybody?

Don't tell me: he's one of the new Cabinet members.

15 My wife works for a bank, let's say it starts with a W, that is being bought by a bank that begins with a W, but was almost bought by one that begins with a C.
She told me that people get fired constantly for looking up celebrities and politicians accounts. All of these accounts are flagged and when someone opens them up they are flagged, and their account manager is notified. If it was legit, it's ok, if not, they get their stuff boxed up.

17 #15mrcaniac....as well it should be. Why can't government employees be held to at very least, a private sector standard? Before I ever do anything illegal, I always ask myself, is it  worth it. Can I handle the consequences? She knew somebody would cover her fat ass. So of course, the answer is yes for her.......Is it worth it for me to see a hobos' eyes roll backin his head? Hell Yeah!!
