Europeans offer Obama political cover for Hillary as SecState

With the official European stamp of approval, Obama and Hillary can both pretty much tell all the media and moonbat naysayers to kiss their asses.

...European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana gave his backing to Clinton at the State Department, telling reporters in Washington she would be well received in Europe.

"I think it would be very well taken if that is the case," Solana said when asked how he thought European diplomats would react if Obama chose the former first lady...

Seriously, why pick another Clinton retread, when you can have a real Clinton? I'll take real Naugahide rather than that fake Naugahide any day.

3 Think of the alternatives...

Madeline Notsobright, Warren Christopher, Ward Churchill, Bill Ayers, etc.

Lets face it.  For us, Hillary is about as close to a dream choice as we're going to get out of Obama.

4 I agree, PA.

And I don't foresee Hillary knuckling under to Blowbama, either.

5 When I think of Hillary as Secretary of State, I'm reminded of something Krauthammer wrote about her as a prospective president: "I could be comfortable with her, because she is so utterly devoid of any attachment to principle that, as far as national security goes, I'm sure she'd do the right thing."

I'm just waiting to see how much time passes before Bill causes his first problem.

11 How will she handle the pirates seeking <seething> to destroy our economy?

Well...Bill sent Tomahawks into an aspirin factory.  If I were the pirates, I'd actually be pretty scared right now because Hillary would be looking chalk up some quick publicly supportable foreign wins, and the only ones sympathetic to the pirates these days are their own support infrastructure, and of course the Associated Press.

Kicking pirate ass is about as internationally risk free as it gets.  Naturally, human rights groups and such will whine, but foreign governments, business around the world, and the American public would love it.  We loved it when the Ethiopians were kicking Islamic nutter Somali ass, and we even backed their play on the sly.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at November 21, 2008 10:54 PM (OqXyp)

12 I don't foresee Hillary knuckling under to Blowbama, either.

Actually, I could see him pretty much abdicating almost all foreign policy to her, short of actual decisions to send in troops.  Narcissists aren't "detail people", and Hillary apparently doesn't mind nitty detail work, which is mostly what diplomacy is 99% of the time.

14 Javier Solana. That's the same asshole that was threatening Canada when we shot at their fishing boats back in 1995 as well as some Italian woman. That would have been something I could have gotten behind. Only time I actually respected a Liberal was when Brian Tobin didn't do the standard liberal grovel to the international crowd.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at November 21, 2008 11:59 PM (OqXyp)

It was a big deal in Europe at the time. They were threatening to send a naval flotilla off our shores and a lot of Canadians were talking about F-18's, Harpoon missiles, and rockets. It was actually nice to see that many Canadians were not the gutless weenies the Canadian media wants them to be. It stopped due to the fact that the Spanish had pissed off the British and Norwegians by doing the same in the North Sea.

I know that the US doing it would bring out the cuckoo crowd screaming imperialism. Doesn't make sense but it's true.

The government knows "something
big" is coming; they just don't know what.

They are mailing "general mobilization" letters to EVERY former member of EVERY branch of the U.S. military, no matter their age or physical
capability, telling them to prepare for recall into the armed forces for a "general mobilization." The last time the USA made a general mobilization was in December, 1941.

Just asking,PA..Every once in awhile, people have to do things they know are bad in
order to achieve things they know are good. America as a nation is at such a cross-roads. We are left with two choices: either accept the
debauchery, manipulation and usurpation that have taken place, or correct those problems with deliberate and direct action.

We can no longer sit idly-by and simply accept the debauchery, manipulation and usurpation. It is going to be corrected very soon by extraordinary and stunning means. Just a feeling.

Posted by: sickinmass at November 22, 2008 12:31 AM (/i4dU)

32 We can no longer sit idly-by and simply accept the debauchery, manipulation and usurpation.

Yea, we can.  As long as the gas stations have gas, food is on the shelves, and there aren't guys wearing black masks toting machine guns on the street corners, Americans will go along.  Four, or even eight years isn't all that long.

We accepted 3+ terms of FDR and he was in reality one of the most damaging presidents in US history.  Were it not for WWII burnishing his image, he would have gone down as one of the absolute worst.

We're not there yet, not even close.

46 The general mobilization thing has got to be BS - what would we do with a sudden influx of hundreds of thousands of former military guys, many of them likely out of shape with only half-remembered training on obsolete tactics and equipment? We probably couldn't even provide enough uniforms for them, much less weapons and equipment.

Some of the super-loony people on the far, far right (like Hal Turner) seem to be pushing this. They think is Obama is planning some kind of domestic power grab. If any president tried doing something like that, there would likely be a mass mutiny. It's just nuttiness.

Posted by: Jim62sch at November 22, 2008 01:12 AM (6rQXk)

Now look what happened.  I'm not so quick to discount the conspiracy nuts so much, anymore.  Yes, discount them, but you just never know, anymore.
