A Little Perspective on the Obama Win...

Via AllahPundit, who I assumed was just posting dreck because there's not a lot of news. But no -- it's pretty damn good. As he says, "Comedy Gold."

Some girls react to David Cook's American Idol win over David Archuletta.

What's my point? The younger you are, the, um, stupider you are. Things that meant so very very much to young voters -- like Barack Obama -- may mean as much to them in four years as David Achuletta will mean in four months.

She's going to grow up to run an American auto manufacturer some day, if they still exist by then.

6 This is why I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about capturing the "youth vote."  A few years of  getting college education = no jobs will probably make the new lefties realize that job creation and high taxes incredibly don't go hand in hand.  Then they become Republicans.  Sadly we are not ever going to be truly "hip" but that's because we are the adults in our big American family.

7 It's like a glimpse into my future.

Although I hope my girls have better musical taste.

8 If I ever have kids, I want boys. Those shrieks made me want to claw my ears off.

Still, hilarious. And yes young dummies can change. I voted for Clinton once. My sister was a  vegetarian, women's studies major, and I've converted her to the dark side.

10 I've forwarded that video to everyone I know, labeling it as 'My Living Room on Election Night'.

That was pretty much the scene here.  I was shrieking like a little girl about the time they called Ohio...

11 Thanks!

A great Friday afternoon laugh!

Kind of like my house election night too, except we had already figured out (pretty much) how it was gonna' turn out. Oh, and I cried a lot more than those shrieking girls.

I hope your days gets better. Buy a couple of tranny hookers and knife some hobos. It always works for me.

13 Really REALLY funny. But yeah, the youth vote grows up real quick when they graduate from college thinking they have the Golden Ticket and find out they're just another asshole. Trust me, I know.

Posted by: Alex at November 21, 2008 02:51 PM (dcSVg)

14 Yes, but never underestimate the impact of an operating camera on a bunch of pre-teen girls.  I figure they ramped up the meller-drama by 25% while the red light blinked.

Could there possibly be something wrong with my girls?  They never acted like this -- in fact, outside of a few obligatory Legolas the Elf and Johnny the Pirate posters they never got into being fan girls, or screaming, or fainting....

And yes young dummies can change.

Let us hope. My fear is that this latest generation has been so thoroughly indoctrinated with lefty bullshit while also being starved of any sort of educational experience that involves the non hateAmerica version of our history that it never occurs to them to look beyond government for solutions to their problems. No jobs? Shitty economy? Fix it, Daddy State.

Yes, but never underestimate the impact of an operating camera on a bunch of pre-teen girls.

I used to see shit like this every time my daughter had visitors and there was no camera. L would go upstairs, shut the door and crank up the music. My wife had to deal with it.

Those of you who have pre-teen girls, look out because it gets worse when they get to be real teens. At pre-teen they think they know more than you. When they get to be real teens they know that they know more than you.

28

How did you keep them from turning into screeching howler monkeys with the vapors?

Not a mom here, but I do have oodles of kiddy experience. The trick is to impress upon girls, from the earliest age, that shrieking is for emergencies only. Teach them the girly version of the boy who cried wolf. It may take some effort, but it does work and does stay with them.

Posted by: TiredWench at November 21, 2008 03:24 PM (VVOw6)

29 Things that meant so very very much to young voters -- like Barack Obama -- may mean as much to them as David Achuletta will in four years.

I assume some of them might actually have incomes at that point. At which time they may look at how much the government is actually mugging them for.

They'll start singing a different tune. Money talks. Bullshit walks.

Obama is Captain Bullshit, and his presidency will be so full of economic and regulatory bullshit that even the O-fellatio media won't be able to ignore it.

31 I think the one in the Aeropostole t-shirt who doesn't immediately react with shrieking and tears is a ringer ... she really  had to work up some emotion.  Maybe she went against the herd and bet her $50 on the guy who won.  Whoever he is.  I have never, ever in my entire life seen even one minute of American Idol.  I am proud.

Of course, I jest -- If you saw the reception the Beatles got in the US back in the 60s then you know this is tame (only of course those screams and faints were the happy kind). I get nervous just thinking about it.

Slublog,

It is not your future. I wouldn't have let my kids get so into a retarded show to begin with and if they had t-shirt made with some stupid celebrity on it, then they had better have a job and have paid for the damn thing themselves.

Seeing that child labor laws would have prevented that in this case....I blame the parents, who could have least set up laundry in front of the TV and had them folding and ironing while their brains were rotting.

But that's just me.......

In most Georgette Heyer novels, "you're acting missish" was considered quite the insult.**

...the young ladies were practicing at being missish.

...we should bring the term back into common usage.

**Do take the online Free Dictionary definition of missish with a grain of salt: calling a yong woman missish was generally a reprimand of their inappropriate conduct, and meant to apprise them of the speakers opprobrium ...not as a mere description of their age. Stupid dictionaries.

When they're young go ahead and buy them Barbies to play with, and the Barbie horseie, and the Barbie car, and the Barbie dreamhouse, and the Barbie doggie, and some fetching Barbie clothes.  One's feminine side must be allowed after all.  It's ok to let young girls identify with Barbie if done properly.

Then go out and buy the Barbies all of GI Joe's neat tactical gear (include the GI Joe) -- and teach your daughters that "isn't it cool that Barbie can also handle an M-249 and the rocket grenade launcher?"  Pretty soon the Barbies are riding around on their wonder horsies in the backyard, blowing shit up with their rocket grenade launcher ,and turning the Barbie doggie into a certified scout dog (and they're dating GI Joe -- make sure no Kens get anywhere near the  house, point out what a pussy Ken is and how now Barbie could not only stomp his ass but also their friends' Barbies that have obviously made bad choices in how they lead their life).

When the girls get older start taking them on real life Barbie adventures, such as huntin' and fishin' and campin and kayakin and ridin' their horses for three days straight out in the wilderness -- just like they used to play with Barbie back home (minus the rocket grenade launcher).  Buy them real dogs as pets -- like Dobermans or GSDs; just like Barbie and Joe used to have in the Barbie Dreamhouse -- not like pussy Ken and ditzy Barbie's mop on legs at their friends' Barbie Dreamhome.

Mission accomplished.
