Waxman to lead house climate change clusterfuck

John Dingle was booted as committee chair in a secret vote, to be replaced by Waxman.

In a victory for environmentalists, Rep. Henry Waxman of Los Angeles ousted John Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress, as chairman of the House committee that handles all energy, climate change and health care legislation. In a secret ballot, House Democrats voted 137-122 to replace Dingell with Waxman.
The bad news is we'll probably get some truly grotesque climate change legislation rammed through at least the house due to this.

The good news, is that Waxman will probably be so busy crafting this comprehensive, omnibus, pork laden, earmark fraught, bloated, monster from the swamp legislation that he's not going to have much time to run his usual stacked and orchestrated kangaroo court investigations he loves so dearly. After all, there are only so many hours in a day, and the democrats just dumped a pretty large dollop of real work on his plate.

12 This is great news for those who believe automobiles and electricity generation should be fueled entirely by Hope and Change.

For those worried about skyrocketing energy costs, dependence on foreign oil, and the impending electricity generation/transmission crisis ...not so much.

Global warming could be the coffin nail Republicans need to cripple the Democratic Party.  Once everyone sees how much we're spending on climate change while the planet cools over the next couple of decades the shit will hit the (renewable energy powered) fan.

"Real work"? Is that what we're calling government committee meetings into a non-existent phenomenon to get a predetermined result (to wit, "blame Americans in general and Republicans specifically") these days? Really? Really?

Well, shit, sign me up. I could use that kind of taxpayer-funded "real work." I can pretend to pay attention as well as the next guy...

I did not know one could legislate climate change. Maybe that's what king Obama meant when he said "this is the moment that the rise in the oceans began to slow." Me I would pass a law that it was winter where ever Barney Frank was at any time.

Waxman is a joke, just like the AGW bullshit. They will overreach in this arena, claiming they have a "mandate".

The bloom is coming off the global warming rose, with more and more people seeing the light. I doubt anything coming from that committee will go too far.

22 The potential appointment of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano to lead the Homeland Security Department could signal a shift in focus away from the war on terror and toward domestic concerns, especially immigration.

"She's in a Republican-leaning state where voters want tight immigration control, so she's postured in a hawkish manner, declaring a state of emergency on the border in 2005 and supporting use of the National Guard."

But, he said, Napolitano has not been a strong supporter of more border fencing, vetoed a bill that would have made illegal immigration a violation of the state's trespassing law, and signed an employer sanctions bill only reluctantly.

"There couldn't have been a better pick for Department of Homeland Security than Gov. Napolitano," said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, a group that favors a broad overhaul of immigration policy. "She has displayed a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by our immigration system.

The head of HSD who will not focus on terrorism and doesn't want more secure borders. When's the next flight out of here?

24 CHICAGO (Reuters) – U.S. President-elect Barack Obama is leaning toward selecting retired Gen. James Jones as White House national security adviser, ABC News reported on Thursday.

Jones is an ex-commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and former top operational commander of NATO. He is widely respected by both Democrats and Republicans but has avoided aligning himself with either party.

Jones is known to have been a strong critic of the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war.

In Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward's 2006 book "State of Denial," Jones is quoted as describing the Iraq war as a "debacle."

Good thing Jim knows about debacles because he'll be viewing one up close for the next 4 years.

Rep. Frank: : "Can you do that standing naked bent over on a chair? I'll be right behind you".

37 Another reason Reps continue to get spanked in recent elections is because they're not standing up to the GW bullshit.  They're at best saying nothing.  McCain had a personal stance that GW is man made.  Conservatives figure they might as well just stay home instead of continue getting kicked in the crotch by faux-conservatives.

Fight the bullshit instead of enabling it.  That will win elections.

I say nip this thing in the bud.  Let the Reps accept all legislation as long as it has ONE PROVISO in  it.

1) If it turns out that Global Warming/Climate Change turns out to be a hoax, all legislation becomes null, and all monies transferred are reversed.  With 10% interest.

As far as I know, every single 'proof' of global warming has been debunked.  I think the only thing still there is the computer 'model' which has been proven wrong because it assumed that the atmosphere of earth in infinite instead of being less than 200 miles thick..  Imagine, our atmosphere that goes out thru the sun and on into the galaxy.

I believe this strategy can be sold ... how could the Dems refuse the bet?  Not so sure, then maybe we shouldn't grab all this power.  Sure as heck, then put your money where your mouth is.  And if you're right, then we're on board with what should be done.  ( I really really don't believe that it is correct)
