American Jews are mostly of the reform variety, and liberal in politics and theology. As you move into the conservative and orthodox branches they become more conservative in politics etc. That is a bit of a generalization, but fairly true. We have a synagogue here that my wife and I visit because we are interested in the Jewish roots of Christianity. From a strategic and tactical viewpoint, giving back the Golan heights is folly.  However, a number of Israeli governments, from almost the moment the Golan was taken, have offered the Golan as part of a peace agreement with Syria.
