Shocker: Franken Stealing Minnesota Election

100 votes suddenly discovered. Every one for Franken and Obama. Every one.

Hey, I've got 1000 votes for Coleman in my rumpus room. Sorry, I forgot to deliver them previously. Where shall I bring them?

The Minnesota GOP can probably use some money for lawyers.

Thanks to DanF and Marian.

Donate to Coleman: at the button on the right.

Joe has written the MN GOP to put up a special legal-fight donations button. Hopefully they'll get that up soon.

3 A moment with a calculator tells me that if these votes were from a community that went for Franken 95-5, the probability of 100 consecutive ballots for Franken is 0.6%. If the community was 70-30 Franken, the probability is less than (1 penny) / (the federal budget).

4 The democrat vote counters are the most magnificent counting bastards known to man.  Just think how mathematically difficult it was to conjure up a scheme that awarded the entire 100 votes to Franken?  The most intriguing part is standing before the public and expecting us unwashed rubes to believe this banter.  Well, just fuck 'um.

12 Many more details over at twincities.com. Democrats are "finding" absentee ballots received after Nov. 4th. and surprisingly they're 95% Democrat! Liberal judge refuses a request for a halt to further opening of these sealed ballots, and the head election official has past ties to ACORN. This is how Democrats win elections!

Isn't it mind boggling that Coleman himself (and his Congressional colleagues) aren't on tv expressing outrage? You'd think after all these years of watching the Democrats express outrage they'd too know how to do it.

I mean, damn, if they're not outraged by this why should I be outraged?

Yeah, that's the part I have trouble believing.  The RNC was, perhaps, surprised in 2000.  And yet, since then, they've not managed to put together a legal 'strike force" that flies to these situations and gets going immediately?  And along the same lines I note that we've all known that there were problems with media objectivity and fairness since 2000, yet no one in the entire party has figured out how to minimize the Dem's advantage?

It does seem like they simply don't want to win -- or they want to win without playing on the same field that the other team is on.

Posted by: Popcorn at November 08, 2008 05:54 PM (Tha0W)

22 Nothing new here. They're just using the playbook they perfected when they stole the Upper Left Washington governor's office from Rossi in '004.

All errors favor the Dem candidate and the vote counters keep finding new ballots until they've dragged the carcass of the Dem across the finish line, then they'll stop counting.

Posted by: Raoul Ortega at November 08, 2008 05:59 PM (9p0nw)

23 It's not surprising, the Dems have been stealing elections for decades. They've become more blatant about it because they will never get any media flak on it.

It looks like the Democrats aren't even in the mood for a recount in MN. They're just going to keep finding Franken votes until he's ahead +1 and they call the results official. Then it will be: No recount needed. Move along everyone. Nothing to see here.

Dems are getting really good at this. I wonder if we will ever have another reasonably fair election.

No they are not “good” at this. It is obvious what they are doing but they will get away with it because the election officials are all Dems and they will just ignore the law.

I am assuming that this is the same 100 votes that was already reported on yesterday with no signed and validated printout from the optical scan machine.

When they get this blatant rioting in the streets can not be far behind. I guess we need to get Jimmy the Peanut and the U.N. to monitor the votes now in regions that have Democrap election officials and judges.

This just shows the exact reason why Franken shouldn't be elected to government. If his ego wont let him acknowledge the fact that  he lost the election and has to resort to trying to steal it then he really shouldn't be an elected official in the first place.

Posted by: Matt at November 08, 2008 06:14 PM (5IMt9)

30 The media are complicit. Imagine the headlines if the Republicans were doing this. We have no one monitoring the Dems. Nothing new about that, but now they're in charge. This is really bad, folks. Say hello to our newest and stupidest Senator.

Posted by: stace at November 08, 2008 06:16 PM (JO0c/)

31 They're just going to keep doing this over and over again, more every time. Why not? It worked in Washington State, they didn't even bother with it at the FEC. Cheat? Why not? It works.

Posted by: Christopher Taylor at November 08, 2008 06:28 PM (0+Ggj)

32 It would be good strategy for the GOP to raise accusations of election theft immediately and put the Democrats on the defensive. Needless to say, I doubt they have the low-hangers to do it.

So, were there any districts anywhere in the country, including majority black and Latino ones, that had a 100% Democrat voting percentage? (And no spoiled ballots either.) And were the 100 (dead even) votes discovered in an unopened ballot box on an Indian reserve? I believe there's some precedent for that, already.

40 So they "found" 100, all for Franken.  Funny, just the other day, it was because of a typo by some rubes in Pine County:

In Pine County, an election official accidentally entered 24 votes for Franken on Tuesday night instead of the 124 he actually received. The mistake was caught on Thursday and the numbers changed, said Jim Gelbmann from the Secretary of State's office.

http://tinyurl.com/65b9aq

Someone needs to get the story straight.

Is there anyone who knows the math that can estimate the probability of Franken pulling this off?  Shouldn't we expect a relatively even distribution of errors between the two if you are using optical voting machines?

Posted by: bunny boy at November 08, 2008 07:11 PM (YsSn7)

41 #21  Exactlly, I mentioned this yesterday and wondered if the GOP was ready for this.  After Florida 2000 and Washington 2004 the RNC should have learned something.  There should be lawyers and volunteers for monetering ready to go on election night and the moment it is clear an election is closer than 1% they should be on the move.  Were they?  I doubt it.

43 Meh-the GOP is complicit in its own demise.  As many have already pointed out, this is not exactly new beahvior on the part of the Dems.  If the pubbies are too stupid or, more likely, spineless to fight them then they deserve to die.  It leave us with the horribly corrupt Dems in charge, but maybe whatever party rises to fight them will take the fight seriously.

Posted by: CavMedic at November 08, 2008 07:49 PM (tFCj+)

44 This kind of election fraud worked out very well for the Democrats in Washington state in 2004. Same mo: votes kept appearing for the Dem governor during each recount. Recounts were stopped when enough votes were manufactured to elect the Democrat.

As always, the Republicans was complicit in the fraud. A Republican Secretary of State allowed the repeated recounts and fraudulent behavior. The Republican party was awful in its fight against this fraud, even to the point of filing and attempting to prosecute a completely incompetent court case.

I see the same thing happening here. A bunch of conservatives and Republicans standing around going "look at that". The Democrats know nothing will happen, so they will just steal this election, flip us off, and go to Washington.

Posted by: iconoclast at November 08, 2008 07:54 PM (JP1UC)

45 Sounds like the Franken folk in Minnesota took a lesson from the gov. election in WA a couple of years ago. The more often you count the ballots, the more ballots you find, which are curiously all Dem.

Helps to count a major Dem. area, such as Seattle, last. Makes it easier to know how many ballots need to be "found".

Sometimes, like in WA, you need to count, recount, and recount again, until the numbers add up right. Then you stop.

Winnah !

Hat tip to Edward. G. Robinson in "Key Largo".

46 No, Cincinnatus, We jail the good guys so the bad guys can finish giving us the Utopia Puketopia that the One, Coke Zero, Gutterball, wants. Cheaters wind up on staff in DC, District of Cheating.
By the way, Al Frigging Franken is amongst the singularly most unfunny, most unappealing and unlearned eggsucking maggots in this nation. I hated his moronic writing on the old SNL, his Error America stuff sucked like a Bissell canister vac, and his personal appeal to people is "vote for me, I'm too stupid to compete in the private sector and I'm too young to retire."

Voila, he gets a stolen pass to the one place mediocrity is most in vogue, the Senate of the United States. I think his place in hades will be bitter.

What a turd.

51 In Tennessee, the Dems literally stole the nomination from state senator Rosalind Kurita in the primaries. Kurita beat her challenger Tim Barnes by 19 votes, survived a recount, and then the party simply handed the nomination to Barnes anyway. Kurita was forced to wage a write-in campaign, and she lost big.

The Dems did this to get back at Kurita for a gesture of bipartisanship last year (she voted to support a Republican judge).

The Franken situation is a little different, but it certainly doesn't surprise me that they're trying to steal this one too.

Posted by: YRM at November 08, 2008 08:49 PM (004wR)

53 The odds of all 100 being for Franken and Obama, assuming 90% of the precinct's votes went for Franken and 95% of Franken's votes went for Obama is...(,95*.90)^99 = .00000144681, or 1.44 in 1 million chances. And that is a very generous assumption, both in terms of voting percentages approaching the absurd, no spoiled ballots and very limited effect of third-party candidates.

This whole thing is total bullshit. They don't need just a lawyer, they need a statistician.

54 I know I'll take some heat for this.  But here it is anyway:

Let Norm Coleman go.  He's no conservative.  Keeping him around will only maintain the dominance of the GOP by the likes of John McCain and Miss Lindsey Graham.  If so many people in Minnesota want Al Franken, then they deserve to have a bombastic, tax-cheat idiot as their senator for six years.  And what better way for him to achieve office than by stealing an election.

Al Franken is just what the Democrats in the Senate need, and by the same token is more beneficial to the conservative cause than Norm Coleman will ever be.  It's time to go all in.  He'll provide the last length of rope.

There, I feel better now.

55 Should anyone be donating any cash to the GOP? They don't seem to be doing anything constructive with the money they've received over the last 8 or so years, so what good will it do to keep giving them more money?  Maybe the GOP can buy Coleman some illegal votes so he catches up with Franken, and then turn around and charge him with fraud and tell him to step down.

Why don't you let it all go? Turn the fucking reins over to Putin?

The Democrats have been CAUGHT, AGAIN AND AGAIN, engaging in vote fraud, and the GOP's fucking answer every fucking time is to fucking let it go.

60

You might as well let it go, you can't stop it from happening.  Votes will be found until Franken wins.  The chief vote finder of MN is in on the fix.  And even if he couldn't find the votes the Democrat Senate would seat Franken anyway.  After 2000 in Florida NO close election is going to the Republicans; if you want to win, you'd better win big.  It's sort of like in boxing, where close decisions never go against the defending champ.  Of course eventually one of the victims will go psychotic and assassinate somebody - statistically it has to happen if you screw over enough people.  So, let's go find some psychos!  Or are they all Dems already?

And even in an honest election the recounts are going to favor the Dems - being more stupid they will have made more mistakes to be found and fixed.

But that is what the Republican commentators say we need -- more feel good, wishy-washy, moderate Republicans running the party.  I am not contributing a dime until we see some leadership from SOMEONE in the GOP.  It is not time to hide under the covers.

I'm glad to see that someone (obliquely) mentioned the only way to deal with swine like Franken--namely, assassination.  In fact, much more effective than assassinating Uncle Joe Obama would be to assassinate his enforcers, and leave UJO trying to deal with the problem.

In Franken's case, assassination could be arranged so as to be defensible as self-defense:  piss off the little twerp, and then snap his neck.
