Foreign Policy Adviser For McCain/Palin: Shut Up, She's Not An Idiot

Lots of nameless weasels are spreading stories around about how dumb Palin is. Well, Steve Biegun, the guy in charge of briefing her on foreign policy, went on the record with Rich Lowry and calls the stories about Palin's alleged stupidity "absurd".

In general, according to Beigun, Palin had a steep learning curve on foreign issues, about what you would expect from a governor. But she has "great instincts and great core values," and is "an instinctive internationalist."

Follow the link for a rundown and refutation of some of the more scurrilous accusations.

A note to the McCain staffers spreading this shit...at least Palin had the guts to go out there and try to salvage your shit for brains campaign. So come on you brave backstabbing jackasses, man up and put your name to your charges like Biegun did with his defense of Palin. Or don't you have the stones to do it?

2 I am not the biggest fan of Sarah, think she has some troubling characteristics, but I think she is being unfairly attacked on this stuff. I'm sure she knows Africa is a continent. The clothes are not a big story, either.

I suspect Mitt Romney for this crap, but only because I'm a low rent Axelturfer who isn't half as clever as I believe myself to be.

First, Romney and his people weren't in the room when the shit happened. McCain people were.

Secondly, when was the last time McCain passed on an opportunity to take a shot at Republicans in general or Mitt Romney in particular? If he or his people thought it was Romney supporters, McCain and his people would be all over it and beating the hell out of Romney.

18 McCain is going to be D'ohbama's go-to guy in the Senate. He's already telling us we need to unite behind our president elect and support him.

The price of McCain's admission into the new administration is the destruction of Palin.

D'ohbama studied despots, and when they eliminate their opponents they also eliminate the opponents' offspring so that they can't rise up in the future.

Palin was the Republican heir apparent--McCain's offspring, in a sense--so like Saddam, Stalin, and Pol Pot, Obama is trying to make sure she'll never threaten him.

I'm pretty disgusted that Mr. Honor and Straight Talk is going along with it, but I guess he figures that in the name of bipartsianship and unity, it's for the best.

Kathy Bates said the same thing in Misery, as she was smashing James Caan's ankles with a sledgehammer.

Last I checked, she's doing a sit down with Greta Van Sustren on Monday, which doesn't exactly scream 'going on offense' given how sympathetic Greta's been since this story started.

Part of Palin's appeal is her ordinary, down home charm...not her ability to play Trivial Pursuit with a renowned dipshit like Katie Couric. I'd see any other interview as an oppourtunity to take her out once in for all.

As some people have already said, she owes the media nothing after how they attacked her. The story at this point isn't Palin; it's McCain and his pals acting like assholes by leaving their comrade behind to get slaughtered.

Why should she go to all that trouble & effort, now that the election is over-- she must be exhausted, and has to get back to work in Alaska-- to "prove" herself against the most baseless of smears & slanders? And to the MSM fucks of "60 Minutes, Larry King, Sunday morning new shows"? She needs to prove herself to *Larry King*? Please, don't make me laugh. And debate? She did just fine recently in a debate against our next vice president. She will "prove" herself if & when she pleases, on her own terms, on her own timetable, in the fora she chooses. No. He's not. He said the bath towel thing happened, but was no big deal. Davis ran that campaign like he has McCain's senatorial bids of the past. Small, disjointed, MSM-sucking, and disorganized. Davis wasn't ever ready for primetime - ergo the addition of Steve - who although worked for the Rove, was never as good.

73 Thanks, robtr.

By "sort of" I take it that none of them actually said it wasn't they who spoke to the media anonymously.

I really think it's time for conservatives to distance themselves from anyone who worked on the campaign -- from McCain on down (except of course, for Palin). No great loss.

I can't believe none of them have a clue who's doing this. And it's in their best interests to find out -- stat. If they don't, hey -- guilt by association. That's the way it works in the DC mosh pit.

OTOH, since no one in the campaign displayed the slightest skill in researching Obama's background, I doubt they can find their way out of a paper bag on this issue.

Sarah Palin blamed by the US Secret Service over death threats against Barack Obama

Hey, douche, there is nothing in the story about the Secret Service "blaming" Palin for anythingCan you read?

I'd love to see who recommended Palin as the pick and compare it to the eventual leakers.

"Look, we only lost because the VP pick was so stupid."

"Um, didn't you pick her?"

"Well, yeah but how were we to know?"

76 Worf, it's the headline.

Posted by: kidney at November 08, 2008 04:32 PM (QAdII)

77 Nicole Wallace, and Steve Schmidt are just covering their collective asses.

They were named by Schneumann as the ones who were out for Sarah Palin. He is either fired or comes close to being fired for this, and loe and behold we have the Schneumann prophecy come true. Then the backlash came, and suddenly they come on TV to say it wasn't them, while John McCain is awfully busy with his barbecued ribs!

I am not a fan of Romney, but I fail to see the connection to him. He should never be the GOP candidate, but I don't see the blood trail leading to him as yet. McCain looks more guilty than Romney!

Um, that's the headline of the story. No, it's not supported by the story but I don't think someone quoting the headline is exactly out of bounds.

So the question I guess is, hey, douche, can you read?

79 As a Republican I don't know what to think or who to blame anymore. You can make the case for Palin blowing this thing but it was McCain's fault for picking her. And we can get excited all we want about her prospects but she sure didn't do a very good job selling herself to the american people. I'm not sure how she recovers from this. Is an appearance on Greta really going to do the trick? Why not just go back on Hannity, can't get any friendlier

When you let this shit spin out of control and only make feeble attempts to stop it you end up with this shit:

It's getting closer to a point with me where I don't want her to run on a national level again. I do not want a beautiful, intelligent, happy mother of five to be sacrificed to these asshole sucking, worthless abomonations of humanity. No one being deserves to be treated this way, especially some one that didn't hurt anyone and only stood up for what she believed.

In fact, I'd expect nothing less from her. And, just for the sake of discussion, in a weird kind of way, it's keeping her in the spotlight. Isn't there a saying that 'there's no such thing as bad press'...? I don't see her going down in flames. I see this, and perhaps she sees this (?), as a kickass opportunity to continue the attention on her. After all, who knew about her before McCain picked her, really.

But, when he picked her, there seemed to be still a spark of wisdom and leadership left in him. It was no longer a vote against Oba-Mao, it was a vote FOR McPalin.

About all of us morons had heard of Sarah Palin.

From the explanation given here, the leaker sounds like someone who has seen some video or maybe just heard audio of Palin's preparations and is taking things out of context. Go back over what Beigun explains--doesn't that sound like offhand chatter that no one would notice if they were present? Maybe someone saw some transcript? That might mean it doesn't need to be a high-level campaign staffer at all though the fact that because the top staff cannot put a stop to this crap indicts them as fully as the leaker. As I see it.

111 Hank. Being a veteran and an ex-pow makes McCain, drumroll... a veteran and an ex-pow. It doesn't determine who he is in any other regard. McCain clearly does have other admirable qualities, but he also has deficiencies.

He has not shown any loyalty to the GOP or to conservatives and has in fact shown contempt towards many Republicans who have honest disagreements with him. He has called them bigots, nativists, and more besides. He has made a career out of siding with Democrats and furthering their agenda at the expense of those who elected him and have tried to support him.

He came very close to leaving the Republican party several times and was considering running as John Kerry's running mate.

You are asking conservatives to show a loyalty towards him that he has never displayed towards them!

I don't think that I could ever endure what he did in his capture and in service to our country. For that I will always be grateful, and humbled; he in many ways embodies one of his greatest slogans, Country First. I will never attack or belittle that John S. McCain. However, as a representative of we Republicans, the senator chosen by the party to run against the Democratic ticket, he and his machine failed miserably. Not only was Team Mac, out marketed, but out maneuvered. The lack of consistancy was one of his team's, and by default his, greatest failings. He was never allowed to continue being the Mac that we saw that night at the RNC. I was invigorated at his words to 'join him' and 'to fight'. But he was never consistant in this message.

My original theory was that all these smears are just coming from McCain staffers (ex-Bush people like Wallace and Schmidt) who want to cover their asses for their poor campaign. But now I’m beginning to wonder if it’s more than that. Maybe someone in the GOP establishment is trying to destroy Govenor Palin because they’re afraid she’s so popular with the base that she would win the nomination easily but too polarizing at this point (thanks to the smear job she’s received from the media) to win in a national general election campaign. It’s sort of a “we must destroy this village in order to save it” type strategy. ( I think there was similar chicanery going on when it looked like Huckabee might win the nomination.)

What does everyone think? It might help explain why FOX jumped on the story. Maybe the campaign source is a GOP establishment bigwig like Rove (thinking his actions are actually saving the party.) Frankly, I don’t see any plausible reason for McCain to do this because when you think about it, these Palin smears hurt him too. If she’s really so dumb that she doesn’t know Africa is a continent than what does that say about McCain’s judgment in picking her? Moreover, if he’s encouraging his staff to smear her that makes him look bad too since he actually hired these back biting traitorous bitches. No, I’m with Bill Kristol on this. I don’t think McCain has anything to do with this and the staffers are making McCain look just as bad as they’re making Palin look bad. Note that the two names that have been put out there are Nicole Wallace and Steve Schmidt, ex-Bush staffers. I’m not saying Bush is behind this at all. I’m just saying there’s no way a loyal McCaniac would allow McCain to look bad in order to hurt Palin.

I think pre-existing McCain Derangement Syndrome (derived from McCain-Feingold, Immigration Reform, McCain’s vengefulness after the ugly 2000 SC primary, etc.) is clouding a lot of people’s judgment. I understand why many of you dislike him. But I don’t buy the idea that he’s behind this crap or that he’s purposefully letting her hang. He put his reputation on the line by picking her and defending her on numerous occasions in the press. At no point was his defense of Sarah anything less than absolute. There was no equivocation. Moreover, I’m pretty sure he told his staff during the $150,000 shopping spree to knock off the leaking. The point is, there’s a lot more evidence that McCain likes Palin and has supported/defended her than evidence that’s he’s out to get her.

But having said that, he really needs to say something now because the base is going apeshit over this. I suspect he thinks it’ll all blow over but he’s wrong. It’s taken a life of it’s own and he needs to step up and put a stop to it. This isn’t just bad for Palin. It’s bad for McCain. Most importantly, it’s bad for the party as a whole. The GOP should be banding together to fight ObamaNation. Instead it’s destroying itself with this crap.

119 EXACTLY ClnAz! Without McCain we never would have heard of her before. I never had, had anyone else here? At least he did her the favor of putting her into the spotlight!

It doesn't really do much of a favor for her if you leave her out there to be smeared without doing much to fight back and have aides who restrain her from fighting back. She had enough to stand up on her merits in 2012 given what she's done in Alaska. That completely fell by the wayside because he had campaign aides who took a Bush-patented "aw shucks" approach to being called the anti-Christ.

Instead of being a reformer with a 90% approval rating, she got tagged as hick, adulterer, religious nut, and corrupt herself. And so, in not fighting back, in the end that's what he had: not a reformer who's done a fantastic job - but a hick, adulterer, religious nut, and corrupt hack.

That's not a favor. And that's why I have an animus towards these aides (apparently a decent amount actually came from the Bush administration) - whether or not they are disloyal, they're incompetent.

If we all really love her so much we owe it to him for having the guts to pick her. He obviously was smart enough to do that. And she may be a great one someday but she didn't do McCain much justice in this campaign.

I think you underestimate just how many conservatives hate McCain (and this is coming from somebody who likes him and who defended him on this website). Palin helped immensely with their support and in fundraising from them. And, again, while she did do some damaging things in the campaign - I say it's the image of Sarah Palin that the McCain let go unchallenged that did much more of the actual damage than Sarah Palin herself.

Posted by: AD at November 08, 2008 05:26 PM (dW9kw)

120 McCain wasn't doing Sarah Palin any favours by picking her! He wanted Joe Lieberman. He chose her because he wanted to win more, and to do that he had to secure the base of the party.

John McCain INVENTED being a Maverick, and it was because of all the things listed above-taking on his own party when they were wrong, working with the other side of the aisle when it was the right thing to do - all of which are things people love to say about sarah palin - that she took on her party in Alaska, that she puts aside politics when it's neccsary. Isn't that why we supposedly like her? For all the things that McCain made trendy?

The dems are laughing at us for turning on one another, all the way to the white house. We let a socialist into office becasue of this woman. Everyone says they like her because she's "just like me.."

Hank, I *like* John McCain (though I am starting to get annoyed he's not doing more to defend her). I don't see why attacking Sarah Palin has do be a criteria for that.

More importantly, though - look, if she's an idiot, she's done a much more impressive job and accomplished more than most governors, politicians, and pundits currently criticizing her right now -- so if she has no brains, as far as I'm concerned, all of their neural tissue has been sucked out and replaced with styrofoam.

Sure he had honor then, but as my old bosses used to say when I gave good work during the year, sure you did that for us then but what have you done today?

That is the crux of the matter. IN 2006 he had an ACU rating of 65. That is the second lowest rating for a Republican on the site. There are Democrats that have a higher rating! And on top of that, its not just the rating that is the problem, it’s the things he defied the party on. He and the RINOs like him are responsible for a LOT of the defeats that GWB had that make Bush look to be so liberal. Nearly ALL of the major conservative legislation that Bush promoted that went down in defeat was due to McCain et al. The tax cuts wound up being “temporary”, no drilling in ANWR or the coast, the SS fix, Gang of 14 that got no judges we wouldn’t have got anyway. McCain-Fiengold (and look what that got us). The list is endless.

Let’s face it, McCain is a liberal and a RINO who was proud to “stick it too conservatives” in the name of maverickness. And if he fails to stop this back-biting on Sarah he has no honor in 2008 and he can KMA.

134 I'm not ripping her for being an oridnary person - IM an oridanry person, and I don't need to defend myslef or my record of service to the United States of America. That used to mean something, especially in the republic party, but some of you folks are off the reservation.

She can be an ordinary person all she wants, there is nothing wrong with that. I jsut don't think that's what should qualify her for office, that's all. At least it shouldn't be your platform. If it is, you can't get all upset when people call you out on it.

You folks can go ahead and attack me, use profanity and call me all the names you want, it certainly doesn't change my mind about her or her "rabid" supporters who choose to throw McCain under the bus. Some of you here should be ashamed of yourselves.

And by saying "bad things" you actually mean telling the truth about McCain. Once agian, it isn't our damn fault that you never heard of Palin before. I'm willing to bet more people here knew about her than didn't.

Just out of curiosity, can you tell us who the Gov of LA is without having to look it up?

Palin did a hellofa job. No one asked you to support her blindly either. Her record was avaliable for all to see; it speaks for itself. How about the other one's records? Nothing. None of his colleges. None of his medical records. Nothing. Dude, you are sorely due for a Palin field dressing.

As far as you veterans, I thank you all who have fought for the freedom's I cherish. I wept this morning watching the war pron. I wept with the joy that we had kicked some righteous ass. I wept for the boys and girls, men and women, doing this work. I wept with the thought that my husband and my sons, everyone's husbands and sons and daughters, will be asked to continue defending our freedoms and our liberties when our dear leader opens his gd mouth without a teleprompter and gets us into some nasty ass shit. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. I can easily separate the honor earned and respect given to the McCain who served us most admirably from the McCain who allowed his team and his direction to stray. This is apparenly a skill you have yet to acquire.

I don't think it should either, but people criticizing her are acting like she's still the mayor of some small town in Alaska. She has a record beyond that and it's a hell of a lot better than the bulk of her peers.

139 "Don't blindly support someone because she has a pretty face and gave one good scripted speech at the convention."

Hell of a compliment there, Hank the Tank.

Disregard her accomplishments. Ignore her climb from the grassroots. No mention of her small business acumen. Executive experience was a mirage. Loyal campaigner to McCain imaginary. Noteworthy whirlwind stump speeches and TV debate, her firsts on the national scene, passed over. Money, crowds, excitement just a dream.

She is as close to Americana as we will ever see, full of grace, dignity, rugged individualism, and class. A normal family mom with exceptional skills and you backhandedly deride her with "pretty face" and "one good scripted speech."

Well done. Good to have you on the team. Good to see the GOP is in such good hands.

You're right, Hank. We should be ashamed of defending a conservative against ridiculous smears from McCain staffers.

After all, she was just asking for it, right?

Again, I ask you, Mr. war hero guy, who takes the fall in a military unit when suboordinates screw up? Who steps up and takes responsibility, even if he or she had no direct knowledge of the events in question until after they took place?

Answer the question, Concerned Poster.

141 At this point, I don't even care who actually leaked this crap. As far as I'm concerned, anyone from the campaign who doesn't come out and name names about who leaked is culpable. In other words, everyone on the campaign. None of these jokers should ever work on a Republican campaign again. Just coming out in her defense is not enough, in my opinion; it's too late for that Should have happened the next day. And I'm letting Fox know just exactly how unhappy I am that they reported unsubstatiated rumors as news and asking them why that sorry excuse for a television journalist, Carl Cameron, is still in their employ. We need a list of their advertisers. They might as well be MSNBC for crying out loud.

142 If Sarah palin was a democrat we would ridicule her to no end for her intervies she gave. THAT'S A FACT. You can't have it both ways, and expect the majority of the public to go along with it and vote for her.

And for "who takes the fall in the military unit when subs screw up..." There is an important distinction to made here. This was a political campaign , not a war. You don't run a political campaign like you run a war. It's different. You're trying to get votes, not destroy an enemy.

I just don't think McCain owes her as much as you people think he does. I think he would have stood a much better chance at the White House if he would have picked Mike Huckabee as his running mate. The Couric interview never would have happened. The snarky coments never would have come out. He could have had a competent, thoughtful, articlaute running mate who could have raised the level of debate instead of dragging it into the mud. And the ticket could have touted it's intellegence rather than it's "winkwink aw-shucksiness".

144 Try to keep this thing in context, Hank. Context.

I'd like a person, ordinary or extraordinary, to show party leadership by defending his teammates when attacked; to have the desire to win

Palin is unfortunately the party scapegoat. It's laughable. She can go on living her life as if this were all a bad dream. It's the GOP establishment and McCain and other so-called party leaders that will ultimately suffer from this childish stupidity.

Better luck next time. At least the GOP lost the race with class and grace.

Can any one person on this web page tell me that when they saw the Couric interview, that they were proud of this ticket? That they didn't cringe everytime she talked herself in circle3s? I'm sorry, she lost me there. Katie Couric isn't exactly a bulldog interviewer. She lost a lot of credibility there that the majority of the public wasnt willing to give back to her.

And by saying "bad things" you actually mean telling the truth about McCain.

Except it’s not the truth. People are assuming McCain is behind this crap. People on this site are claiming McCain was jealous of her success (total bullshit. Her grinned like a Chesire Cat at the reaction she got from crowds). People are claiming he never really liked her. (Again. Bullshit. She says she loves the guy. She apparently has talked to him many times since the election.) Most laughably at all, people are claiming McCain is trying to destroy her so he can be the nominee in 2012. GMAB. He constantly hinted that he’d be a one term President. Lastly, people are claiming he’s destroying her to save himself. But that’s an idiotic strategy. Everytime one of these Palin smears comes out McCain looks worse and worse. If Sarah was really that dumb than that means McCain was an idiot to pick her in the first place. That’s why I maintain this stuff isn’t coming from McCain or any of his loyal McCanianic staffers. Instead I think it’s coming from someone that’s threatened by Sarah’s popularity – someone that’s afraid she’s got the 2012 nomination in the bag.

Given how much this has blown up I’d like McCain to speak up and defend her too. But I’m not going to assume he’s a rat bastard because he hasn’t so far. Particularly since he’s defended her MULTIPLE already during this campaign. Regardless, I think these staffers need to be exposed for the back-stabbing cretins they are. Moreover, we need to start focusing on Obama/Reid/Pelosi and stop the inter-party fratricide.

There’s no doubt, the Dems are laughing at us. If I didn’t know any better I’d think this was an Alinskyite move from the left.

Yeah, we probably would. I would still think it unbecoming to pick her as your nominee and then not back her up more. I'd still also say it is a bad move politically. If you defend your underlings, you get more loyal underlings. If you don't? I think it's more likely to lead to what we have right now.

Of course, either way, you're tied to your pick, so any attack on her is an attack on you. The McCain camp doesn't want to do more to counter the attack she's an adulterer?

Well, then they've just picked an adulterer as VP.

They don't want to do more to defend her against the attack she's a religious nut?

Well, then they've just picked a religious nut as VP.

Etc. Whatever problems Palin herself caused, that exacerbated them. Heavily. We took note when Al Gore wasn't willing to defend his former VP pick, Lieberman, years after the fact. We're taking note of this. I like the guy, but McCain should do more.

McCain lost the election! He scrooged the pooch and Sarah Palin had NOTHING to do with his loss. She helped him, but it wasn't enough.

If being a veteran is all that matters then vote for Charlie Rangel or John Kerry. As for the rest of us it takes more than that.

You don't get to blame the subordinates for the disaster.

Dan Quayle didn't sink Bush and Sarah Palin didn't sink McCain.

McCain lost because CONSERVATIVES stayed home rather than vote for him. Not liberals, not moderates, but conservatives.

Anyone who doesn't realize that she is the ONLY reason McCain didn't get totally steamrolled is completely clueless. I am very grateful that she was willing to make the sacrifice--and yes, it was a sacrifice--to try and help a ticket operating under such difficult circumstances. All the major talk shows were crying to get access to her during the campaign. Now is her time to begin the offensive for 2012. She has plenty of friendly sources she can use as bully pulpits to begin constructing her own power base. Fuck the RNC and fuck The RINO'S that live there

Hank, I wasn't proud, but I also put more weight in how she's performed in office than an interview.

I still think McCain was the right man for the job - i DONT think she was.

That's cool - but if McCain wanted to win the election, it was a little late for him to come to that conclusion. He didn't have her thrust upon him. He didn't have merely a day to vet her. He picked her. People judged him by the soundness of this pick, so needed to defend that soundness to become President. To leave her out on her own was to shoot himself in the foot. To defend her, at that point, was to defend himself.

If people voted against Palin, they voted against him - so he owed to himself as much as anybody to make sure they didn't vote against Palin.

And just in general, I'm more hesitant to work for people who let their underlings fry, no matter how much their underlings have it coming. There could be some connection to the loyalty shown to Palin and the loyalty received from these campaign aides.

Posted by: AD at November 08, 2008 06:35 PM (dW9kw)

159 I'm going to catch all kinds of heat for this, but Sarah palin embarrassed me. She made Bush look like Eistein sometimes, and not just the Couric interview. She redeemed herslef somewhat during the debates, I gave ehr that. But she just was not the right person at this time. It turned off most women, becuase her pick (understandably) looked like outright pandering to Hellary supporters.

The Palin pick tried to turn the election into a culture war. Values issues simply don't get traction in a bad economy. Don't SOME of you agree that perhaps picking an economy hawk would have produced a more attractive ticket? I know Huckabee isn't exactly a economy wonk but he could have tried to learn some of it. Hussein Obama wasn't an economy candidate either in th beggining, but he held a huge advantage on the issue by election day. How did that happen?

Nick, I respect liberals who will come on here and argue their positions from an intellectually honest standpoint. (amazingly enough a couple exist) You ain't one and you ain't gonna be. For starters, you don't know much about what you're arguing about - this explains the Palin being "pro-choice" bit - It wasn't a typo, you just didn't know it.

Second, like most dems, the intellectual backing for your arguments consist of ad hominems . . . and that's about it.

We occasionally ban people here. I won't worry too much about your loss.

Posted by: AD at November 08, 2008 07:13 PM (dW9kw)

190 And for the record, yes, I was lying, but I was really, honestly just trying to have a spirited debate and I do think that McCain is a good man. He really dissapointed me pandering to the likes of you folks here, which was his downfall. He, like Palin, turned off just enough people to lose the election. I would have beenscared if he would have picked Huck - He's the closest thing to Regan I've ever seen.

I really had no agenda of "trying to get you to hate Palin" because "she scares me". Like I said last night, I more than welcome her as a Presidential candidate. It would be a laugh a minute.

Good thing guys like John McCain fought for my right to say this kind of thing...otherwise I'd be in deep shit right now.

Posted by: Nick at November 08, 2008 07:13 PM (nBQnu)

191 Come on, I can be your liberal mascot if you want. Shouldn't this forum be a little "fair and balanced"?

Not with self-admitted liars.

192 Nick/Hank: Would you be so bold as to tell us which insurance company you represent?

Posted by: thebronze at November 08, 2008 07:16 PM (Wcltt)

194 And being banned from this website, believe me, wouldn't be a tragic loss to me either. I tried to be an honest intellectual last night, and was ridiculed for it...you know, being a book-reader, paying attention to the issues, going to college, learning how to talk in complete sentences...

And please, yes, I did realize Sarah Palin is pro-life. She may has well have tattooed a picture of an aborted fetus on her forehead. It's pretty obvious.

195 Good thing guys like John McCain fought for my right to say this kind of thing...otherwise I'd be in deep shit right now.

Hey, dumb ass! No one has ever fought for your right to make an ass out of yourself on a privately owned blog. Your wife must be flunking out of law school. You would have thought she would have known at least that much and passed it on to you (with the STDs).

196 I really had no agenda of "trying to get you to hate Palin" because "she scares me". Like I said last night, I more than welcome her as a Presidential candidate. It would be a laugh a minute.

Right . . . words, actions - one of these speaks louder than the other.

190 And for the record, yes, I was lying, but I was really, honestly just trying to have a spirited debate and I do think that McCain is a good man.

When you got countered, you just resorted to repeating your points and name-calling. You also misspelled a lot, so we got to you, whether you want to admit it or not.

Ya can't debate, dude.

BTW, tell your wife if she's nice to me, I'll get her a staff attorney job.

Posted by: AD at November 08, 2008 07:18 PM (dW9kw)

197 Nick/Hank(nBQnu): "I've never been paid a dime by Obama. In fact i gave my hard-earned money to him to beat McCain. I work in insurance and my wife goes to law school..."

Why would anyone believe any of that? Your behavior patterns indicate either a) you possess a real fear of Palin and you're a paid shill to smear her, or b) you possess a real fear of Palin and you voluntarily smear her while fluffing Uhbama on the side pro bono.

There really aren't any other ways to interpret it.

It's certainly an open question whether he's behind it or not, but it's a stone cold fact that he's keeping his mouth tightly shut while his peeps lie about Palin. And this from the man who was constantly leaping to Obamas defence.

So, run from the liberal mainstream media industry, AND…declare war on the one, nonliberal media outlet.

THAT will convince people you’re smart.

Guess what? They've ALWAYS been out to get conservatives. You don't run. You don't hide. It may shock so folks to learn that the vast percentage of the electorate does not get the news solely from FOX (which, I guess, is now on our shit list too.)

We can have candidates with the stones to take on MSM, or we can keep trimming the number of acceptable outreach activities to Sarah Palin delivering scripted remarks to her family in her den.

One thing that's happened as a result of the anti-Palin lies is the return of the faux libertarians. These are the same people who said during the '90's, "I represent the libertarian wing of the GOP, because I'm more open to abortion and gun control," gun control obviously being not something a real libertarian could support. So now you have Frum out there saying that you know, if we hope to win again, we need to support climate change legislation.

Yeah, real smart. Support higher heating bills so people will vote for us. Note that the one period during the campaign in which McCain led was when he championed drilling for oil.

FWIW, from what I've seen of the real libertarians, such as at Reason, I'm not too thrilled with them either. Yeah, they avoid endorsing things like cap-and-trade and gun control, but they still seem to be trying to brownnose the far left by seeming as hedonistic and anti-Christian as possible, and by cherry-picking issues on which Republicans are technically non-libertarian (like Guantanamo) but which don't affect freedom for average Americans.

Meanwhile, it's the "idiot Palin wing" of the GOP, as one of these losers referred to us, who steadfastly support gun rights, oppose eminent domain for private benefit, and support the right of Americans to obtain our own vast energy resources--all of which are far more popular among Americans as a whole than the empty hedonistic goals of these pigs.
