Meetup Map and This Week's Schedule [someone]
Denver Meet-Up Bleg

Denver Information? Can anyone with the information write me at morontips and aceofspadeshq (both at gmail)?

A reader wants to attend but can't get the information.

This is what happens when morons try to organize.

Question: I'm starting to think the details-secret-by-email measure is kinda unnecessary. What do you think?

...

Moron meetups continue this week. If you expressed interest in the comments and/or live in a particular area but never contacted the meetup coordinator, consider this a "last chance" warning.

If you are coordinating a moron event and have scheduled something for this week, please leave the date, time, and city (NOT exact location -- that should be by email) in the comments along with the associated contact address. We will add it to the list below.

SATURDAY (11/15)

Ames, IA (tailgate) -- 11:30am
email Russ from Winterset

Atlanta, GA -- 5:30pm
email the organizers

Denver, CO -- 6pm
email tony

Washington, DC (metro area) -- 7pm
email Paul

Sacramento, CA -- 7pm
email goat

Portland, OR -- 7pm
email Rasputin

Santa Monica, CA (the Los Angeles group) -- 7:30pm
email dan-O

Austin, TX (includes San Antonio group) -- 8pm
email Dave in Texas (ADDRESS CORRECTED)

blankminde set up this Google Maps overlay for the events:

[Map moved to current post]

Geez there are a lot of these things. Some brave (and unemployed) idiot should try a road trip.

If you're organizing (or want to organize) something and it's not listed, email blankminde here or post it in the comments section with a contact email.

Seattle

It is looking like a place as yet to be determined in the Ballard area on Friday night 11/7.

Email me for details  andrews-dad AT hotmail  DOT com when it is finalized as it will not be posted for fear that our small band of non liberals will be rounded up and re educated for the good of the state.

New Orleans report:

So far I have received 4 e-mails, one from a regular visitor to NO, but who I don't think will be in town this weekend, one who lives a couple of hours away but might be able to come in at some point, one who's sick and one who could attend this weekend.

I'd like to wait until we can get more than 2 (maybe 3) people together. Of course, if I get a couple of more positives, I'll let everyone know.

Anybody in the Tampa Bay area where it looks likethe  Hillsborough results going one point for Obama was rigged by the out-going Supervisor of Elections. Seems not all the votes were counted.  Thankfully in the re-count, he is out and Repub is in.  Dems loved this office so they can "play" with the results using new Math.

I've got one Petersburg, one Fredricksburg and I am in the middle, north of Richmond.  If you want to drive to a central spot, come on.  Haven't decided on a date/time yet.

33 Why not create a Google Maps overlay with all the relevant information so that people can just go to it and see if there is something happening close enough that they could make it out?  I realize that the above mentioned 3 locations aren't exactly tough to plot, but any of the smaller things can be tough to parse.  Just a thought for organization purposes.

Posted by: Paul at November 07, 2008 12:19 PM (cy/Va)

37 I set up the map overlay and sent it to someone.  Its easy to update and makes it really simple to get directions and easily preview if anyone within reasonable distance is setting something up.  I'd link, but its very long.

The above posted TnyURL is operational and if you email me info I'll update it for people's convenience.  If all you have is an email and a general area then send it to me so people at least know generally where you are and who they need to talk to for buddy-carousing and conservative moral support...or immoral support.  Whatever floats your boat.  I hope this helps facilitate things.

44 Washington DC Moronpalooza

I'm thinking either Friday or Saturday, a week from today. That gives everyone time to plan, and email me with a list of potential places. Right now I have 17 people on the email list.

46 I wish I could join the other NYers, but I'm a middle-aged mom essentially in Putnam County. Raise some Irish Whiskey for me, boys.

I live in the fucking boonies. Maybe once we get our house fixed up I could invite my fellow morons, but we are way the fuck out there. We're outnumbered by the skunks and raccoons out here (as well as horses and cows.) Our wine/liquor cellar is not what we'd like it to be, and in our Brave New World, I'm not going to be able to build it up for awhile.

I'm sad I could never join one of the moronapaloozas (I lived in Queens before this), but if I have some scratch at the end of this year, I'll send some on to Ace to live it up for me vicariously.

Posted by: meep at November 07, 2008 02:41 PM (7uTCa)

47 I feel for my fellow morons in the RTP area. I'm from Raleigh originally, but all my buddies back there are fucking liberals. What can I say? I was young and stupid. If they had lived in NYC as long as I did, they may have wised up, but being in NC the countercultural thing at the time was being liberal.

Too many Yankees invaded.....

58 meep, your liquor cabinet/wine cellar has my sympathies.

Every problem is an opportunity. BYOV-U-R should be a given as well as a strict donation of at least two live hobos to the party host (one for the party hobo-hunt, one for the host to hunt later on).

Then again, I'm not sure that I'd want a bunch of hard-drinking chronic masturbators leaving me "presents" in the linen closet.

77 Info from this thread up until this post has been added.  This map is not indexed so the link should be the only way to reach it (unless I'm a moron and Google is selling that shit to advertisers on the sly.)  If you have a problem with your email being added let me know - otherwise you're on the map as soon as you post it in this thread.  That link again is: http://tinyurl.com/56x6uk

If this becomes a matter of nobody wanting to make a 1 or 2 hour drive back after getting a bit tipsy (OK, snot-slinging drunk), I may have to flush some Marriott Rewards points and book a room or two so some more DC/VA/MD morons can have a place to crash without having to get up off their fat wallets.  I'd need about a week's notice, but I'd be happy to do it.

87 So far as I've seen, all the update info that people are inquiring about is already in the map.  Use it - it will help.  Click on the blue sticky and it gives you the emails for the area.

If you're really interested in keeping updated on this you can subscribe to RSS feeds by visiting the link that says "view larger map" under the map.  The RSS link is in the top right area of the next page if you've never seen it.  Clicking that link will also give you the text rundown of all activities.

I'll remove outdated information eventually, but to keep things current a quick reminder that something went down will help.

136 Map updated to this point.

If you are wondering who is in your area to commune with - check the map.  I've gotten some emails asking who people need to talk with.  The emails noted for specific areas on the map are people that have put themselves out there to coordinate something.  Hit them up...or hell set something up yourself.  Worst case scenario, you show up at a bar alone and wind up dumped out in an alley somewhere.

If you want to update the map email me specifically what you want your tab to say and that's how it will read...vulgarities and all.

so if i go to a moronpalooza, how will i recognize the other morons? is there a secret handshake or 'color of the day' or do we all wear the same color pocket square?

also, since i would be going to the CO meetup, I wonder what the rules are for concealed handguns at meetups. i have the permit, don't worry. I think it would be fitting to pack heat at a moronpalooza.

also i don't drink alcohol but i hope that's not a problem.

Posted by: Jones in CO at November 09, 2008 09:10 PM (KOkrW)

Any chance, since you don't drink and you'll be packing heat, that you could fly out to the Richmond, VA event?  We really need a designated driver and if you're armed and sober, so much the better.

But, I was also wondering about the identification issue.  At first I thought we could use some sort of a spy movie question/answer thing....

Question:  Can you tell me where the oyster bar is?

Answer:  Not sure, but there are seagulls circuling that young lady.

But, I've decided to pursue a non-sanctioned MoronPalooza 2008 TShirt angle.  I'll do some inquiries tomorrow regarding cost.

Ace, the AOSHQ Moron Palooza 2009 TShirt idea is an idea that might help you stock your liquor cabinet for the first year of the new administration.  After that, we're all headed to CAMP anyway.

I think we should use the flaming douche as our symbol at the meetings ? Just kidding, besides, it might reek, and set off the smoke detectors. We want a symbol, not smell like a liberal.

We could have a hat, maybe a baseball cap with the propeller. For the Moron theme.

I was originally thinking the white duncecap, but people might get a strange idea when a group of 5-20 morons sit at a table wearing tall white pointy hats drinking brews, talking shit, and screaming politics. Especially with a Bambi and his 300 henchmen taking the helm in a couple months.

Yeah the Ace of Spades card would be the best idea. With an official ValuRite promotional advertisement.

For the AOS store, how about a sexy girls Ace of Spades outfit? Either for your beloved one, or for the cake hopper at the next AOS get-together.

We have about 30 morons attending... a couple with spouses or significant others in tow. Should be one of the bigger events around the country.

221 I think I have to apologize for beating everyone over the head with the whole Delaware/DelMarVa thing on this thread.  I've had a couple takers already, but you know it has to be frustrating when you have Joe Biden on not one, but two parts of the ballot, since he ran for both VP as well as his senate seat (we Delaware conservatives wanted to get him out of his senate office, but not by promoting him), so I've been coming on like a loser at the prom trying to get people to come out.

If you're familiar with the Dover, DE area, we're looking at Lobby House, McGlynn's (the new place where Atwood's/The Blue Coat used to be), or either Doc Magrogan's or Public House at Dover Downs for Saturday, December 13.  If you're at all interested, let me know at pinkertonrk1 at gmail dot com.

StL meet-up went very well, we had about 11 morons show up, and interestingly enough more of half of them were of the female variety...nice right!

The food was good, the booze was cold, and the discussions were lively.  All around good times.  We plan to get together again soon so the morons that were interested but had scheduling conflicts can join up.

Hey, we might even start an official STL AOS Moron Chapter and make this a regular thing! (assuming of course that Ace grants us a Charter).

There was significantly less hobo murder than I was hoping for though

It almost got even more interesting because we had a table of smelly hippy types next to us giving us the stink eye all night.  And I don't think I was the only one hoping they'd give us an excuse to smack them around a bit.

But alas, hippies liberals being the cowardly motherfuckers that they inherently are, they never got past the dirty looks.

If any other STL morons want to get in on the action for next time, my email address is posted on the map.

223 I'm a lurker, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I was at the STL meetup on Tuesday night.  It was fabulous, since I go to school around the corner from where we chose to chat.

It was everything I had hoped for: loud discussions, intelligent people who were genuinely interesting (I'm a college girl; I'm not used to being able to listen to a political discussion without the phrase, "My parents tell me..."), and hot chicks, other young women who aren't politically challenged.

I am looking forward to the next one...or at least the next one that I can attend, seeing as I was the only individual who has yet to reach drinking age.

As others have stated perhaps a more target rich environment next time. Though the "stink eye" types will be everywhere regardless of location. We are in the middle of the blue pond in a red state...*spit*

Macabre, I understand the stimulating conversation that collegiates produce on politics...consider yourself ahead of the game. You dont have to spend the next decade going through all that asshat angst before giving in and coming to the "dark side" I think we can still get you into the next one...

246 Rls definitely made the STL meetup more "lively."  I would like to thank him for coming on out to the meetup while in town on business, and discussing the differences between innovative policy implementations still based on conservative principles and compromising those principles with me.  Without more energetic discsussions on how to move forward without sacrificing our principles, we will fail to successfully rebrand and rejuvenate our movement for future victory and a better America.

Personally, I thought the STL meetup was a huge success, and I look forward to many future get togethers.  I would like to point out it wasn't over half female, it was 5 females out of 11 total there.  Though without knowing for certain Valerie's age, it's safe to say 4 out of those 5 were 25 or younger.  So yes, be jealous, St. Louis gets more than it's fair share of the pretty morons.

The venue wasn't great.  Too loud and crowded.  Next one shall be a family friendly cookout at Casa Pistolero in the country on a Saturday afternoon, maybe.  At least we can hear each othere better, except for the occasional screaming of hobos caught in the bear traps that encircle the compound.

257 Excellent time in central VA.  I agree that the location was a little noisy, but anywhere with that much liquor is going to be a little loud on a Friday.
I got the feeling that the pierced cockatoo that was serving us drinks might have been a spy.  I can't be sure, but I thought I saw him whip out an Obama walkie-talkie and radio the mothership.
You set up a BBQ and I'm there, but I'm ill-equipped to debate the finer points of grilling in winter.  I imagine it is fun just because its so surreal.

Re: BBQ'ing in winter, It's sort of like fishing.  Keep an eye on the weather forecast and be ready to act on short notice.  I have a great recipe for cockatoo I've been dying to try out.

You should have seen the double take when I was sitting at that table, just me and the wife early on, and cockatoo saw that MoronPalooza table tent with the Saddam Ace card with the X over his face.  I think he was expecting trouble and I don't blame him.

Damn glad to meet you and your lovely wife.  The conservative movement lives.

pistolero/blankminde, winter grilling rocks. about 10 years ago when we had dogs and before kids, we had a new year's eve party at a friend's parents house up on the potomac, maybe 20 minutes east of fredericksburg. we had 4 or 5 couples and at least 8 dogs and we ended up grilling in the snow on a deck right on the river. being near the keg helped. so let's keep an eye on the weather over the winter now that global cooling is setting in and maybe we could conjure up some more winter grilling in the snow.

blankminde, ditto on what pistolero said. it was great meeting you and your wife. now that we've confimed that we're all normal, maybe i can convince my wife to become an adjunct moron.

Not that I have plans currently to do so, but I would not attend any meeting that was openly publicized on a blog.  You have no idea who's reading this.

Question: I'm starting to think the details-secret-by-email measure is kinda unnecessary. What do you think?

I assumed it had something to do with me and if that is the case it is not necessary. I am not planning to go mostly due to the fact that I am an imaginary person. Secret emails are a good idea though if you wish to remain anonymous because someone in the Pacific NW left his email and I went to his facebook page.

"Not sure if the details by email is really effective except against particularly lazy trolls/stalkers/psychotics. All they have to do is email the contact and ask."

This is interesting. Have you considered the possibility of internet trolls coming to the meet-ups and pretending they are conservatives? I am not going to do it, but someone will eventually and I hope people post the details.

287 I hope there aren't spies.

Polygraphs for all tonight, so I don't do anything incriminating on front of a Kos Kid.

288 Rasputin, you're in Portland. What are the chances that, if you ever do anything incriminating, it won't be in front of a Kos Kid?

Just got back from the DC Meetup and it was a good time, but the food in this Irish Pub was unfortunately authentic, I think.  Thanks for putting this together, Paul.  It was a pretty good turnout and a lively discussion, but like last night in  Richmond, the venue was too loud to hear much from  people who weren't immediately sitting next to you.

We'll have a Hobo Roast sometime after the holidays in  a place more conducive to conversation.

But fun just the same and it was great to meet Harrison, TomM, and all the rest of the gang who shall remain anonymous.

Name a time and a place.  We might need some additional time to organize.  National Review has Euro Cruises, but us ham and eggers might be able to pull together some sort of stowaway/hobo, brother can you spare a deutschmark (ok euro) thing.

Not to get your hopes up, but I hear that the Deutschland hobos aren't as tough  and stringy as the YankeeJerkee we've been feeding on.
