Russia Celebrates Obama's Victory In Their Own Special Way...They Announce A Missile Deployment!

Hope! Change! And test the new guy to see if he's as weak as we think he is!

Russia will deploy short-range missiles near Poland to counter U.S. military plans in Eastern Europe, President Dmitry Medvedev warned Wednesday, setting a combative tone that clashed with global goodwill over Barack Obama's election.

In his first state of the nation speech, Medvedev blamed Washington for the war in Georgia and the world financial crisis and suggested it was up to Washington to mend badly damaged ties.

...Medvedev appeared to be trying to improve Russia's bargaining position in potential talks with the Obama administration on missile defense. His wording suggested Russia would reverse the decision if the U.S. scraps its missile defense plans.

"Moscow isn't interested in confrontation, and if Obama makes some conciliatory gestures it will respond correspondingly," said Alexander Pikayev, an analyst at Moscow's Institute for World Economy and International Relations.

So, will Obama try and buy the 'good will' of Russia by scrapping something he originally didn't want anyway? Hell Barney "I love Fannie Mae" Frank was floating the idea of cutting defense spending 25% before the election. Let's just say I think McCain had a better chance of winning Illinois yesterday than missile defense does in an Obama administration.

The next 4 years should be fun. And by fun I mean fraught with peril.

a "generated crisis"?

Now we wait for Obama's response that won't seem like the right thing.

Thanks for the warning, Joe.

5 Is Obama already President?!?

To think I thought Bush was still in charge of our military.  I can't wait to see what Defense Secretary Jack Murtha has to say about this.  Perhaps Secretary of State Cindy Shehann will figure out some type of diplomatic solution.

11 Wow. Obama IS the reincarnation of JFK.

Now my kids will get to learn the joys of "disaster drills," where you crawl under the tables in the lunchroom and wait for the bombs to stop falling.

And I can dust off that old article from 1966 Popular Mechanics: "How to turn your cistern into a fallout shelter."

I think I still have enough Y2K rations left to stock it.

31 I'm thinking when Obama negotiates with Putin and things aren't going well, he will pretend his nose itches and scratch it with his middle finger.  That'll show Putin who he's dealing with.  Then he'll go and fist bump M'chelle in celebration of punking the man.  It should impress all the liberals.

The next 4 years should be fun. And by fun I mean fraught with peril.

I'm not sure why, but that just sums up the Obama win in a nutshell.

And expect it to be the next eight years. Obama is no Jimmy Carter, and without a Reagan, he's going to be a tough incumbent to take out.

Some of the whackjobs in congress? Maybe not so much. Let's work on them. Starting now.

Posted by: Magical Medial Mystery Tour at November 05, 2008 06:33 PM (jQS9X)

34 1. Medvedev exactly on target where McCain said to keep your eye.

2. Hamas attacks on Israel are making news in America; whether they've been going on for some time or not remains unclear. But had they started a big attack some time ago, the GOP would have emphasized the issue of national security with louder horns.

3. And Iran is holding a bull-headed American citizen, Esha Momeni, in solitary confinement within Tehran's Evin prison, having campaigned for women's rights in the Islamofascist Theocracy of Iran. Neither her family nor her attorney have any access of communications with her, and she will be tortured if not already. So Obama, you want to show concern for women's rights now that you prepare to be sworn in as the most powerful person in the world. We'll see. Elsewise, OBAMA IS FULL OF HIS OWN INFAMOUS ANTIPATHY FOR OTHERS WHO ARE DIFFERENT.

We know what to expect.
Russia, Hamas, Israel and Iran know what to expect.

Anyway,

35 And what was that about Joe Biden saying Obama would be facing a crucial test in the first six months of his term. I disagree, it will be in the first six days.

People will be lining up around the block to pull his punk card and he'll be handing them out. Congratulations America!

I am not to sure about the 8 years part. Obama made a lot of promises to people who will be expecting to get paid for their vote. If he doesen't come up with checks to non taxpayers, free health care, free college tuition etc. he is not going to see those people show up in for years.

You know what? Let them do it. Fuck Russia and double fuck Europe. Let them hash it out on their own. Because Bush's America is soooooo imperialist.

Sorry, Europussies. Enjoy working things out with Russia, China and Iran and their proxies. Hope you enjoy the Obama administration.

Sorry, Taiwan, South Korea, Iraq, Georgia, and possibly Columbia. You should ask for favorable surrender terms right now before a lot of your people get killed waiting for Americans help that won't ever arrive.

Sorry India, you might want to take your best shot at Pakistan right away before the Taliban seizes their nukes.

Sorry, Israel. You might want to dust off the plans for operation: Jericho.

Those of us that like to wargame will have an interesting 4 years. Horrifying, but interesting.

43 Can't wait to hear Obama's version of "bear any burden, oppose any foe" in the inauguration speech.  I'm guessing it will be a lot less rigorous and a lot more flexible than 48 years ago.  But hey, that was a different time, right?

JFK bumped up defense spending to 9% of GDP and 50% of the Federal budget.  I'm not seeing BHO do the same.

46 Joe just won a big bet.  I wonder how Obama's negotiation strategy will work out here.  So long as his illuminati supporters are calling for a reduction of military spending, less war, etc... he'll have no power whatsoever in these alleged "peace talks".
