FBI Asking Questions in Rezko-Obama Land Deal

The least vetted candidate in history:

A former Illinois real estate specialist says FBI agents have questioned him about a Chicago property that had been bought by convicted felon Tony Rezko's wife and later sold to the couple's next-door neighbor, Sen. Barack Obama.

The real estate specialist, Kenneth J. Conner, said bank officials replaced an appraisal he prepared on the property and FBI agents were investigating in late 2007 whether the Rezko-Obama deal was proper.

“Agents and I talked about payoff, bribe, kickback for a long time, though it took them only a short number of minutes of talking with me while looking at the appraisal to acknowledge what they already seemed to know: The Rezko lot was grossly overvalued,” Mr. Conner told The Washington Times Monday.

“Rezko paid the asking price on the same day Obama paid $300,000 less than the asking price to the same seller for his adjacent mansion,” he said. “This begs the question of payoff, bribe, kickback.”

In a wrongful-termination complaint filed last month in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Mr. Conner said his appraisal of the Rezko property, held in Rita Malki Rezko's name, was replaced with a higher one and he was fired when he questioned the document.

1 I keep dreaming of Hillary Clinton as AG with a nudge towards ACORN, Rezco, and Obama. Hell, she might be pissed enough to sink Ayers and Dohrn.

Change you can believe in but you'd better not discuss.

3 Wow!  Sounds like a story!

We'll have to do an extensive background check on Mr. Conner.  See if he's ever returned a video late or missed a Visa payment.

5 how hillarious/sad would it be if this leads to some shocking obama doing illegal shit crap that gets him impeached if elected and we get old joe as our next president

6 I heard a blurb on the radio that some 'officials' are investigating the leak of Obama's illegal alien aunt. Not investigating the aunt and her fraud, but the leak of the info of her status and whereabouts.

Posted by: Bart at November 04, 2008 03:16 AM (t9PoL)

7 I don't see how this ISN'T a felony. Obama was basically GIVEN a break in the hundreds of thousands. How is that ANY different than being handed a check? Look what happened to Stevens, R-AK. And of all people, Obama gets it from a local political thug with HEAVY shady dealings.

FRAUD. COMPLETE FRAUD. And I've not heard ONE MSM STORY even SLIGHTLY investigating.

8 I'm spamming Drudge to try to get a headline on this. Join me, if you dare

Posted by: watchdog at November 04, 2008 03:20 AM (yCbBv)

9 And Fast Eddie plead guilty today
The charges stem from the same investigation that led to the fraud conviction of political fundraiser Tony Rezko, who helped to bankroll the campaigns of Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Barack Obama's U.S. Senate run.
(snip)
U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said Vrdolyak's plea showed that no one was so deeply entrenched in Chicago's corruption-plagued power elite as to be untouchable by federal investigators.
"The notion that there are certain people in Chicago who cannot or will not be held accountable took a serious hit today," Fitzgerald told reporters.

I'm starting to think about the horrors of a President Biden.

17 From tipponline.com

"With just hours to go before the polls open on November 4, 2008, the latest and final IBD/TIPP tracking poll shows Senator Barack Obama with a 7.2 lead over Senator John McCain (51.5%, Obama 44.3%, McCain). All other candidates garner a combined 4.2%.

The tally above represents IBD/TIPP’s final estimate after allocating undecided voters. Prior to allocating the undecided vote, Obama’s lead over McCain is 5.1 points (47.5% Obama, 42.4% McCain, while all other candidates garner 4.1%, with 6.0% undecided).

IBD/TIPP allocated undecided voters in the following way: 4.0% Obama, 1.9% McCain and 0.1% all other candidates (combined). "

A) the 3rd parties will not make up 4% of the electorate
B) 2:1 undecided split for Obama? Seems kinda fishy to me.

Posted by: Sean at November 04, 2008 03:28 AM (vZzYJ)

18 Why tolerate euphemisms like "a Chicago property" or "vacant lot"?

It's the lawn of Obama's home.

Plus, he's admitted Rezko meant it as a bribe, but he was just too "boneheaded" to realize it. Almost identical to the Stevens defense.

Chicago is the murder capital of the US despite NYC having more than three times as many people.

The Democrats fail upwards.

Posted by: Axelturfer at November 04, 2008 03:29 AM (Fc9DP)

19 After it was reported Rezko was singing some Chicago paper said one thing he was talking about was a bank that was run by the family of the current IL State Treasurer and that guy won because of Obama support and even one of Ayers orgs had an account there...is this the same bank, does anyone know?

As to the question #19, that Bank is Broadway Bank, long connected politically, with rookie son now State Treasurer. The banks are well-respected, like the politics and the mob in Illinois.

By paying $600k for his lot when the FMV was only $240k, Rezko essentially bought $360k of Obama's house, in addition to allowing for an overall $300k discount the seller most likely gave to get the overall deal done

Seller apparently told Chicago Tribune that the deals were negotiated separately, but would that say that under oath???

Did Obama report the $360k in his Senate disclosures?--of course not, and this is no different that what Stevens did!!!

Posted by: Grant Anderson at November 04, 2008 01:38 PM (jvG2F)

51 No presidential pardon for Tony Rezko. Looks like he'll sing like a canary. I suspect this was Obama's reason for running now; he was trying to outrun his own crooked past.

Posted by: ginparti at November 04, 2008 04:00 PM (EJmQG)

52 Is this really surprising anyone at this point?  Obama is a crook, Obama's friends are crooks, Obama is going to plunge this nation into a state of corruption and thievery.  Unfortunately, he's starting by stealing from the American people under the guise of "sharing the wealth" as his illuminati supports so affectionately refer to it as.
