Barack Obama's Grandmother Dies

Sad.

I hope he doesn't attempt to make this some sort of campaign point, though.

1 A shame Obama's kids didn't get to see her before she died.

It's already the headline on all cable news media....the worst thing for McCain right now.

God Bless Obama's grandma...........may she rest in peace. She fought for America as a line worker in WW2, and at least she won't have to see what Obama does to her beloved country, the "typical white person" that she is, according to Obama.

if Obama didn't want to use her for political reasons, he could've easily withheld this till after the election.  Instead its being used to help him by the media now, we aren't allowed to criticize, etc. etc.

Yes, I question the timing.

11 It is sad. However, part of life.

I don't know what happens when we die (I have a guess), and while I don't know her views, she raised her daughter strong enough that she was in turn able to raise a capable and success-oriented son (who definitely has values I oppose).

That says something for her if what I typed makes sense. I realize I put it a bit convoluted.

I don't think it will hurt McCain, though. I don't think any of the "undecideds" are going to change their mind because of this.

Posted by: jp at November 03, 2008 05:55 PM (DFDtC)

After the stories about the relatives on Obama's other side, and my own personal comparisons to same, I'm not in too charitable a mood as regards Barack's family.  However, I'll mostly bite my tongue (risking the possibility that I'll soon enough be unable to express my opinions via internet, or any other means....)

I won't say the several bad things that came to mind (beyond what I posted on the previous thread.)  She seemed like a really nice lady.  I hope the kids got a good chance to know their great-grandma.  It's a special thing.  Really it is.

Having thus cushioned my comments, I still must add that he treated her like he treated the other nice old ladies in his life over the past year, which was neither exemplary, nor auspicious.

It also has absolutely nothing to do with how incredibly inept he is to be POTUS, unless, of course, you wish to see a lot more and younger people die in the future from his incompetence (think terrorism, military).

Numbers 12  and 13 are very funny.  When did he find out?  He was campaigning today, and yes, I, too wondered when he did not take his children to see her.  That seemed very strange to me.  So I also question the timing.  If anything, I feel bad for his daughters.  Having a great grandmother is a blessing, they may have wanted to see her agian.

The media can be counted to make it a big deal for Obama.  It does not matter.  I don't see how he could get a sympathy vote out of this since he did not think enough of the relationship to bring his wife and daughters to see her.

59 #40 leaner - take a chill pill okay. No one here is feeling anything but sympathy for the whole family. However, this is not earth shattering news. If nothing else, the media should have the decency to not publicize this since in the family's own words, grandma was a very private lady. Since Barry has not used this as an excuse for anything, I'm giving him a pass. Unless Barry decides to halt all ads this evening, then McCain should consider following suit, out of respect. Since Barry does not seem to be slowing down, neither should McCain.

60  She died of cancer? But wasn't she "just" suffering from osteoporosis?
How does one morph into the other?
I'm sorry, but remember when he used his mother's death as in "I wish I could have been sitting by my mother's bedside instead of fighting with the evil insurance co.'s"??
And then it came out that he didn't see his mom before she died...which is it?
Does this guy EVER tell the truth about anything?
Sorry, but with this entire country's future on the line because of that shit Obama, and his pathological lies and commie connections I have a real problem feeling sorry for him at this moment.

Yeah yeah yeah....rest in peace and all that.........
I wouldn't feel bad about Castro's grandmother dying either....sorry. At least I'm being honest....Barry should try it sometime.

Dunham passed away peacefully at her home shortly before midnight Sunday night (5 a.m. ET), campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told CNN. She said Obama learned of her death around 8 a.m.

The Democratic presidential candidate left the campaign trail on October 23 and flew to Honolulu, Hawaii, to spend the day with Dunham, whose health deteriorated after she suffered a broken hip.

Obama, the man who gives the finger to McCain, the Republicans, and half of America on the day his grandmother dies.

Personal or shared tragedy usually evokes compassion and empathy.  Remember how you felt after 9/11?  Remember how nice everyone was to each other?

Since I have no love for Senator Obama, since I find him a despicable human being for his position on infanticide and for his estrangement from the truth, I'm not even inclined to offer faux condolences, or expressions of sympathy or empathy. Nothing is coincidental w/ Obama's campaign.  I'm not suggesting any foul play, and I offer condolences to the family.  But....this front page "Extra, Extra, read all about it" is meant to elicit last minute sympathy and to curtail any coal news reporting.  Not that I thought the MSM would do a just job of that.  They weren't going to.  So now his grandmother's death is plastered all over the news.  Perfect way to cover up any unflattering Obama news that needs to be addressed last minute.

IMO, I doubt it will sway anyone.  Who will change or be inclined to vote for someone out of sympathy?  Wait, never say never.  There are boat loads of morons in this country.  However, what is bad about the timing is the pushing back of the coal comments.

100 notropis:
So now we need a copy of Granny Dunham's death certificate along with Trig Palin's birth certificate?

Did I ask for a Death Certificate? Nope. A simple "time (or date) of death" would be sufficient. This has nothing to do with Grandma's likability or persona, but just a simple fact. It's Obama's secretive record with everything and the release of this information mid-afternoon on the day before the election that appears questionable.
The topic of Obama bankrupting the coal industry just shifted to his deceased grandmother. Planned or coincidence? Why didn't we hear about this during the morning hours? I am sorry for his loss, but I still find the timing suspicious. It would've been quelled if the initial statement said she died last night at her home.

105 I'm sure she had seen a lot during her 86 years, and I'll bet her last moments were proud ones for many reasons.

If she died of cancer, her last moments were withdrawn and painful. Sorry to be blunt, but I've seen too many people die from it to be sentimental.

Posted by: Seattle Sucks! at November 03, 2008 06:25 PM (knw82)

106 "She died of injuries suffered from being run over by a bus."

Exactly what I was going to say.

She never asked for Obama to run for President so I feel bad for her and her family (less Barak), but for Obama I feel no mercy. He used her.

Posted by: BrackaBama at November 03, 2008 06:26 PM (GEVSM)

107 I can, however, muster plenty of apathy.  I just don't care.

If you truly don't care about O's feelings on the matter - and that's your right, of course - then why say anything at all?  Apathy implies you can't be roused to say anything either way.

It's perfectly reasonable to loathe Obama the man, his politics, his ideals, his goals, his attitude, and/or the very air he breathes.  I don't see why some need to extend this to anyone he touches, whether they have anything to do with what he is or not.  For god's sake, this is the same woman who we were cursing him for "throwing under the bus" not so very long ago.  If she was good enough for empathy then, why isn't she now?

And for those who are literally "questioning the timing," you're treading on the frayed edges of troofer psychosis.  This woman's been sick and sometimes shit happens.  Don't blow it up into anything you'd mock the shit out of the crazy lefties for suggesting if it happened to our side.

Quote- "I totally question the timing. Do we know for certain she didn't pass away last week?"

That was my first thought.

Obama doesn't seem to care to much about his relatives, so why the outrage by some folks over stating the obvious? His aunt lives in a slum, one brother in a halfway house in England and another brother a shanty in Kenya.

Obama could have lifted them out of their poverty with the slightest of efforts but has not. I feel sorry for the grandmother (God rest her soul) and the way Obama treated her while she was alive.

The woman who raised him, vice president of the Bank of Hawaii called a racist for political points.

I do question the timing, the record speaks for itself.

There is no political benefit to be made by talking up conspiracies about the timing of the release or what have you. Even if they were true. If anybody has any solid proof that politics entered into this, fine. But all I'm seeing here is unsourced conjecture.

Look at it this way.

Headline: Obama's Grandmother Dies, Conservatives Question the Timing.

Right now David Axelrod is saying, "Please don't question this campaign about Obama's gramdmother's death..... Please don't... Please don't throw me into the briar patch."

146 apotheosis:  If you truly don't care about O's feelings on the matter - and that's your right, of course - then why say anything at all?

I say it as a participant in a conversation about reactions to her death.  Some here question the timing of this news.  Some express sympathy.  Why is it wrong to contribute to the same discussion an opinion that says her death neither affects me nor inspires sympathy for her kin?

apotheosis:  Apathy implies you can't be roused to say anything either way.

Although close to the right interpretation, apathy does have a specific meaning - one which I knowingly employed.  I am apathetic as to her death, not the conversation. I wished to participate, and I am doing so.  Also, while I am not apathetic to your response, I'm not overly concerned about it, either - I expected some would not be happy with my contribution.  I also expected some might agree.  I've seem to have been proven correct.

apotheosis:  If she was good enough for empathy then, why isn't she now?

Are you asking this about me, individually, or about the collective "us" here at AoSHQ as a whole?  I never expressed any of empathy for her while she was living, and I don't know as I could - I've never been tossed under a bus by someone close to me.  As to the second part of your question, empathy for the dead is impossible - at least on this side of death.  To clarify for you, too, the empathy to which I referred was for Senator Obama, and I have none for him for precisely the reasons I stated.

If you were asking the question in relation to us as a community here at AoSHQ, I won't presume to speak for anyone else here at the AoSHQ on this matter.

I have already commented (and kindly #83) but after reading so many commenters expressing that she was a "good woman" - I wonder if you all are aware that Stanley and Madelyn Dunham were extreme in their day and were communist sympathizers who actively sought out marxist/communist extremists just as Barack has in his life.(GOOGLE!) They raised their child Ann (Barack's mother) in a liberal environment and obviously encouraged her toward communistic sympathizing as well. His grandfather Stanley was steeped in communism. These people are NOT GOOD PEOPLE!  The Dunhams were anti-American, the Obamas (Sr and Ann) were anti-American, and judging from the company Barack has kept his whole life, it's safe to say he (along with his wife Michelle) is also anti-American!

I've also seen questions about the relationship of Barack's family, with his grandmother. From all public info, it appears they had no relationship. I know what he says about his childhood with his grandparents in his books, but it really doesn't appear that they have had a close relationship throughout his adult life. And don't forget how as a young boy, he separated himself from his mother's race.

Since the (not unexpected) news seems to have had no affect on his campaigning today, I say FIGHT ON!!

148 For all those questioning our questioning of the timing, wasn't it Bambam himself who said 'he didn't think she would live to see the outcome of the election'?  And if that was what he truly believed, why was his wife out campaigning for him, and his kids still in school while he was seeing his 'toot for the last time'.  I'm sorry, but when my Grandma was on her deathbed (something we weren't even sure of at that time) 8 years ago, we pulled the kids out of school and drove 4 hours to see her 'just in case'.  THAT is what loving families do...

150 Precious little in politics happens by chance so don't think for a minute this information was released without purpose. Now whether Dear Granny died Sunday, or 10 days ago; from cancer or a broken hip or some other cause is simply irrelevant. The fact that the Obammunist chose to release this information the afternoon before the election is the real issue. It was released to dominate tonight's news cycle and to attempt to mitigate the damage being done to his campaign by the waffling on the welfare threshold and the bankrupting coal story.

I would bet that the Obama campaign didn't know which skeleton would break in the last week. But they certainly knew as many skeletons as the Obammunist has locked away, something would break and that they would need a diversion, or better yet a sympathy play to alter the news cycle.

The timing of this is cold, calculating.....frankly despicable, and it once again demonstrates why an Obama regime is frighteningly dangerous and would devastate this country.

Now go vote dammit!

152 Interesting, or is it scary? Republicans just mirror each other, no matter how they try to be appear humane behind phony smiles, offering phony condolences, or still just rip the guy apart. They have a hard time covering what's real: Their Hatred. Add black to that and you have a formula for crazed and running scared. So what's to do? Find smear, and if you don't have any make it up! .
...even when a human being loses a Grandmother, who was like a Mother to him, knock him down more. It's just wild, you can't make this stuff up. I remember crazy right-wing talk show hosts saying he was going back to Hawaii to find his real birth certificate...she wasn't reeeeeely dying. An air of delusion has set in. Sort of like zombies, not supporters.Let me straighten that out...here's one thing you can believe about Barack Obama ----on Wednesday morning, your hatred and smear will have finally WON! Won...the first black American a seat in the White House! Knock yourself out with all the nastiness, the die has been cast THANKS TO YOU! But watch and wait, you'll be eating your words, he's going to change this nation for the better and you'll still reap the harvest, though you thought ill of him.

As for nasty, I'll say this....what's happening here in the questioning of the timing of the release of this information is legitimate and nothing compared to the insidious attacks on Gov. Palin and her family by your Kossack ilk. Your Leader could have chosen to grieve in private, release this information on Wednesday. But no.....he released it today for political expediency; just like he used Ayers, Wright, and all the rest.

I for one am not waiting on your leader or anybody else. I will take care of my family and myself. Now may Dear Granny rest in peace and may your leader rot in hell.

158 Sad, and kind of surprising. I've long heard that very ill people rather will themselves to live through an important occasion (birthday, holiday, anniversary, etc.)

If Chimperor JugEar McCastroFuehrer does win or steal the election tomorrow, she should've been there.

Rest in Peace, madame.

Cordially...

159 I haven't wished ill on anyone; I've simply stated and implied that this news is completely devoid of any impact on my life and on my perceptions of this race.

I assume you do realize that as responses to word of someone's death go, a shrug is generally interpreted in a negative way?

The point being, even if you don't give a fuck - again, a reaction which you're perfectly within your rights to hold - I don't see what's gained by telling everyone you don't give a fuck.  At best it's a neutral reaction, at worse it brings out and encourages more of the same from others.  And either way, it's far more likely to be interpreted as deliberate callousness; certainly there can be no doubt that it'll be interpreted (loudly and repeatedly) in just that way by those who stand to gain by painting us as a bunch of soulless assholes.

Yeah, I know.  They're going to think of us that way regardless.  But why prop up their conclusions?

160 Admiral, what makes you think Obama "released it today"?

You've been convinced that he is in complete control of reality, haven't you, and that he's in charge of obituaries as well as op-ed pages?

You really are a moron.  I thought it was just the usual smack talk all around the internet, but it's true, you really are a moron.

RACIST! LOL...yes, I lolled.

Let's face it: you idiots got nothing besides the RACIST(!!!!11!!!1!!!eleventy!!1!) charge which you'll roll out everytime you get your panties in a fucking bunch.

But you know what is racist, bitch? How about saying that the Ay-rabs cannot figure out democracy, or that black people cannot get by on their own without the State's happy hands down their pants, or that white people are to blame for every drug sold on every street corner and every bullet in every gangbanger from East LA to Boston?

No, don't get up, sister, because you're not gonna pull the sexist charge on me either, sweetheart, because your own Messiah - He who shall make the seas fall and begin the transnational transgender healing - calls women 'sweetie', and you do nothing, while your own ex-president (Clinton, sorry, PUMAs) abuses interns in the oval office, and everything is jake for you. And then there is Palin who your side has smeared so grotesquely.

I'll see your charge of racism with one finely ground full length mirror and up the ante with a counter-charge of stupidity. Now go play in traffic.

164 I repeat:  If McCain's mother had died tonight, 90% of the nutroots would be completely convinced that McCain had her killed in a "desperate bid to save his losing campaign".  This would be so inherently obvious to them as the only logical possibility that they would file lawsuits demanding a criminal investigation.

I would bet 20-1 odds - meaning I'd bet $200 for every $10 return - that everything I said in that paragraph would absolutely, positively be the nutroot's reaction.

To be lectured by nutroots denizens that what's getting posted -here- is full of "hate" is beyond parody.

167 apotheosis:  I assume you do realize that as responses to word of someone's death go, a shrug is generally interpreted in a negative way?

For someone I know, sure.  For someone don't, I don't think it says one thing or another.  The emotional obligation you're imposing on me is to feel bad for every person who has ever died. I don't have the emotional currency or interest to do so, and the suggestion is patently absurd.

apotheosis:  The point being, even if you don't give a fuck - again, a reaction which you're perfectly within your rights to hold - I don't see what's gained by telling everyone you don't give a fuck.

I would agree that not everything that can be said necessarily should be said.  However, this discussion has incorporated people's reactions to the news of Mrs. Dunham's death.  I would assert again that my comment is not out of place here in the context of that discussion.  Once again, in the context of a discussion of reactions to someone's death, explain to me why only expressions of sympathy and empathy are appropriate?

apotheosis:  And either way, it's far more likely to be interpreted as deliberate callousness;

That's a personal choice on the part of the reader.  I've kept my comments neutral in tone and have advocated no hatred toward anyone. I have expressed my reticence to extend sympathy and empathy to Senator Obama based on his blatant disdain for the value of human life and his estranged relationship to the truth.

apotheosis: Yeah, I know.  They're going to think of us that way regardless.  But why prop up their conclusions?

And why be intimidated by what people might say?  Why let fear of criticism inhibit honest communication?

168 Judging by the comments posted, the Ace of Spades must be proud indeed.

Posted by: nu at November 03, 2008 07:46 PM (yivE8)

169 I dunno, Jazz, perhaps it's just me.  Either I'm not adequately expressing the point or it's invalid in the first place.  I don't deny your right to contribute whatever opinio you hold, but I suppose I just can't see what "so what" adds to the conversation, despite its honesty.

In your summation you ask why fear of criticism should inhibit honest communication, but earlier you agree "not everything that can be said necessarily should be said"  If not, why not?  If it's an honest reaction, and a neutral one as far as you're concerned, at what point do you start caring about anyone else's interpretation?

172 It is of course sad whenever anyone dies, and she lived a long life.  I hope to make it into my 80s myself, though the odds are far better that I'll go "WHOMP" on the kitchen floor and not ever know WTF just happened.  Indeed she's in a better place, but I must correct a previous comment:

she fought for America Stalin as a line worker in WW2

At least Stalin was an ally at the time.  This entire genetic code is hardwired communist and socialist and radical.  I have serious doubts about her fighting for apple pie and hot dogs.  It is one thing to speak ill, and another to discern fact.

Posted by: Herr Morgenholz at November 03, 2008 08:20 PM (qijJY)

173 apotheosis:  I suppose I just can't see what "so what" adds to the conversation, despite its honesty.

It adds another valid dimension to a discussion.  One other regular contributor agrees with me, and I'm sure others that haven't spoken do, too.  As I've stated, I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

Personally, I don't see the value of expressing on an anonymous website condolences to a decedent's kin, especially when there's no personal connection with the decedent and the likelihood that the persons to whom the feelings are directed will ever see them is nearly nil. What do these expressions add?  To my way of thinking, these expressions are cacophonous and without effect.  I don't say this to insult the people making them, I'm just trying to convey my own position:  The expressions of sentiment are of no effect and would likely mean little to the intended recipients, because there's no personal relationship between the decedent and the remote mourners.

apotheosis:  In your summation you ask why fear of criticism should inhibit honest communication, but earlier you agree "not everything that can be said necessarily should be said"  If not, why not?

My point about "not everything that can be said necessarily should be said" was intended to interpreted in relation to context.  Blasphemy in a church is allowed but not necessarily prudent.  The same statement in the context of a discussion of blasphemies is much more appropriate.  That's how I view my contribution here.   The portion of the conversation in which I engaged pertained to reactions to the news of Mrs. Dunham's death.

I knew my position would likely not be popular with some, but I didn't make the statement to be inflammatory.  (BTW, I appreciate the calm demeanor with which you've engaged me.)  I see an incongruity between making an honest statement while knowing it will be unpopular for the purpose of contributing to a discussion, and making a similar statement with the same knowledge for the purpose of offending someone.  The second is the sort of statement for which I would expect and encourage restraint - I certainly aspire to behaving likewise myself, although in my human condition, I've managed to fail on occasion.

177 RIP.
I personally cannot give up politics for a stranger who lived a full life.  There are 4.6 billion people on this Earth and with a average life expectancy of 64 years there will be 282, 000 deaths per day.  To shed a tear for each one at 18,000 drops per gallon will require 15.6 gallons of tears per day.  You would die in less than a day.

What I will cry for is the 100,000,000 people who have died needlessly of malaria since DDT was banned based on bad politics and bad science.   That is the type of mega-deaths the man made global warming fanatics are going to create.  It has already started with the bio-fuels causing starvation.   These are the type of policies that Obama in his arrogance and ignorance is going to implement.  I hope what we are doing here will prevent this and help everyone to have the best chance to live full and happy life.

Pat, when Tony Snow died, I paid him tribute at my blog and the very first comment was that of a Lefty troll calling him and me right-wing-partisan hacks.  Was that because Tony was black?  Or perhaps it's because I am.

You are not the moral water carriers for anything, you stare into the abyss and throw punchlines out with "too soon?" disclaimers. You're not edgy or funny or even snarky. You are framing political talking points with your own pitiful lack of humanity.

Leaner,

I don't feel very charitable tonight. Yes, sad for the family the BHO's gran died, but yes, that news could have been withheld from the media for 24 hours. It is an obvious ploy, maybe not by Obama, but by the MSM to garner a "sympathy" vote, and as mention, to shield Obama from any last minute critisism.

You have not been here that long to really judge this website. We have often kept a civil tongue when tragedy befells someone on the Left (Ted Kennedy's tumour being the most recent example.)
BUT we ARE highly suspicious of Obama and/or the MSMs manner in which this news of her death has been distributed.

Do not think for one moment that the Left, if given a chance, WILL attempt to use such a tragedy for their own political purposes...we have LONG memories of the whole Paul Wellstone memorial business, as well as even recently, Rosa Parks memorial and the hostility towards Bush et al when he brought his kind words and sympathies.

Frankly, I think the Left could use a little of it's own medicine, but in the end, we really won't go so far as to wish someone to die, like, for example, the many, many examples from the Left (Tony Snow, for example when HE was diagnosed with cancer, and, frankly, your own "bleeding/rotting" example...and lest I forget, Ronald Reagan's funeral...what viciousness we heard from the sinistrophere!)

If you can hang with the morons here, Leaner, then fuck off and leave. You shall not be missed, nor morned.

These are the two commandments upon which all others are based.

Jesus Christ - carpenter and savior of mankind.

Maybe we need a little of the second commandment on Wednesday of this week.

217 Maybe we need a little of the second commandment on Wednesday of this week.

2. You shall have no other gods before me
You shall not make for yourself an idol

Tell this to the Obamabots.

218 Why do conservatives think that we consider Obama a savior , or God, or godlike.  I certainly don't.  He is just another poor human stupid enough to want to be president; I certainly wouldn't want the bullshit.  No, one savior is enough for me, and the world.  Chesire, I may be a troll, but I am a polite one.  Would your grandmother not think you could use other language to better convey your point, without use of foul language?

Frankly, today I'm tired of being polite, especially with all these idiot one-timer Mobys showing up on the site, so if I was a bit snarky to you, well, I'm sorry.

As for my gran, who do you think taught me how to curse in the first place?

May God welcome her and comfort her family.

It also needs to be said that Obama went to a church whose pastor believes in a God who doesn't welcome white people.

Lets hope he finds comfort anyway.

Apparently Obama's Grandma didn't just die naturally, they pulled the plug yesterday. I have been in this situation and know that the family decides when to remove life support.

I am sorry for Madelyn having cancer and do thank her for her service in WW2 but her grandson would stoop at nothing to manipulate the masses.

Obama's Grandmother Dies On Eve Of Election

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) ¯ On the eve of the biggest day of his political life, Barack Obama says his grandmother died Monday.

Obama flew to Hawaii last week to place his 85 year-old grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, 85, on life support.  The Illinois senator said he left the campaign trail with less than two weeks remaining before the election because his grandmother was ill and near death. Her brother has said she recently fell and broke a hip.

The Democratic presidential candidate announced in a joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng that his instructions to pull the plug election eve were followed and his grandmother died peacefully after a battle with cancer.

He said: "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment who rescued Barack from his birthplace in Kenya,  She was the person who encouraged and taught us how to work the system, get folks to do what we wanted them to do, and how to hook up with un-American organizers."

The candidate learned of her death Monday morning while he was campaigning in Jacksonville, Fla. Following his death march plan, he went ahead with campaign appearances.

Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview broadcast recently: "Without going through the details too much, she's gravely ill, and we’re planning it so she won’t make it to Election Day to get the sympathy vote."

"We're all praying and want to make sure that I don't miss that opportunity."

Obama has said he missed the chance to milk his mother’s death and wasn't going to repeat that mistake. Dunham was staying at her Honolulu apartment.

While campaigning for the U.S. Senate and for president, Obama often made up warm, loving stories about his grandmother. His Philadelphia speech about race relations, in the wake of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright fallout, was different. He said she was frightened to see black men approaching her on the street.

Dunham's brother, Chicagoan Charles Payne, said recently that Dunham's reaction to her role in her grandson's race speech was "no more than just sort of raised eyebrows."

Obama was born in Kenya and had documents prepared to indicate Hawaii. His Kansas-born mother and Kenyan father met as college students, but Dunham and her husband, Stanley, raised Obama for extended periods when his mother was involved in terrorist activities overseas.

In his memoir "Dreams from My Father," Obama described his grandfather as something of a loser.   It was his grandmother who was practical enough to support the family by playing the minority thing and working her way up in the ranks at a local bank.

Obama has often mentioned "Toot" - his version of the Hawaiian word "tutu," or grandparent - as an example of a strong woman succeeding through intelligence and determination. Many of his speeches describe her working on a bomber assembly line during World War II.

222 My deepest sympathies. Sincerely.

But...let's hope this is shaping up to be a very bad day for Obama.

223 Many of his speeches describe her working on a bomber assembly line during World War II.

Yawn. Yes, his grandmother worked briefly on an assembly line. What he and the msm gloss over is the fact that she worked 30 years as a bank VP. Got to keep the myth that Obama came from humble roots alive. Snort.

Not desperate, just know the small of shit when I smell it. I sent the article just as it was sent to me. You Obamites don't give a shit what he does anyway. An AP line will hardly make you wise up. Take your screwdriver and go play at Huff po little fella.

228 Good Day. As a scientist, I am not sure anymore that life can be reduced to a class struggle, to dialectical materialism, or any set of formulas. Life is spontaneous and it is unpredictable, it is magical. I think that we have struggled so hard with the tangible that we have forgotten the intangible.
