What to Expect TomorrowToday (BUMPED) [someone]

(Posted and bumped with Ewok dispensation. Looks like the Dem fraud prediction is dead on. I'm heading out, so I'll probably miss the early exit poll frenzies. Get out the vote, and bag some trolls if you're here. And if you start to panic, read this.)

(All times Eastern)

1am: Overnight (11pm local time) McCain rally in Prescott, AZ.

6am: Polls begin opening for Election Day proper. Check your local jurisdiction for times.

~9am: Evidence of Election Day voter fraud by Dems (rigged machines, slashed tires, etc. etc.) starts trickling in. Media ignores it.

~Noon-2pm: First leaked exit polls purporting to show Obama up by 99 points in every state east of the Mississippi. Ace freaks out again. Axelturfers flood in.

1:45pm: Election Day morning (11:45am local time) McCain rally in Grand Junction, CO.

~3-5pm: Various and probably conflicting reports on turnout appear on teh internets. Ace has enough chemical assistance to calm down a bit.

~5-7pm: More baloney rumors of polls, exit polls, and projections. (Remember Zogby's 5pm call of a 311EV Kerry win?)

6pm: Polls begin to close in IN and KY (not completely, however).
7pm: Polls close completely in IN, KY, VA, SC, and GA. Media, based on horribly inaccurate exit polling and total bias, immediately calls Virginia for Obama.
(Note: If they immediately call Virginia for McCain, in all likelihood the race is over and we've won. Check the anchors' complexions... And if they start talking about how we're all racist.)

~7-9pm: Stories of long lines, disorder, and other excuses to keep polls open way late in urban areas of MO, OH, and other states appear. Media ignores cover for obvious fraud.

7:30pm: Repeat of 7pm with OH, WV, and NC. Again, in the unlikely event the nets are forced to call Ohio for McCain this early, it's over.

8pm: Repeat of 7pm with a whole bunch of states including PA, FL, and MO.

~9-10:30pm: Actual numbers (counted, not polled) start coming in for these early states. We begin to learn what's actually going on.

9:30pm: Obama's Grant Park riotrally officially opens its doors. Hundreds of thousands of shambling Obots rendezvous outside for worship, rage, and braaaaaaaaaaaaaains.

11pm: Last polling places in contiguous 48 states close. I'm already either really drunk (happily or miserably) or out of nails to chew off or both.

Bottom line: Don't forget that a shitstorm of bad data is going to be flung out by the media, Axelturfers, and Eeyores tomorrow. Don't trust anything you hear, good or bad, until real counts start to appear. Drive McCain supporters to the polls, and do any other GOTV that your local office has planned.

I Will Try Not to Freak Out [ace]: Should be easier to avoid freaking out, as I'm kind of prepared for all the crap they're going to throw at us, and I'm also prepared for the worst.

I don't have any alcohol in the house, though. I should get some.

BTW, I don't agree that I "freaked out" all that much last time. I remember putting up the Kerry sneak exit polls showing him ahead, but quickly, and through the rest of the day, put up all the stuff debunking those exits.

Basically the site mentioned those exits for a half hour before denigrating them for the rest of the day.

10 Good work. I'll be out until 10 PM pacific time, at which point it will maybe be safe to check election returns. If it's "too close to call" at that hour, that means a McCain/Palin win, but they won't announce it until the Obama mob disperses out of Grant Park.

12 You forgot one: the media will report massive voting problems in minority districts in Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia.  The Dems will go to court and get emergency orders from Clinton judges, so that polling places in heavily Dem districts will stay open well past midnight.  You never know how many more voters the Dems might find passed out on park benches.

19 The bogus exit polling data will kill Republican turnout in the West.  Obama will end up winnign Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada as a result. Of all the current "tossups" on RCP, McCain sweeps them all (really who in their right mind things Montana is a toss up? A 20 point swing since 2004?) except Virginia.  Obama snags Virginia, but McCain pulls off a baffling upset in Pennsylvania.  Unfortunately, that is not enough, and Obama squeaks out with a 270 over 268 EV victory, and a commanding 50% over 47% popular vote victory.

Think about it. There is no way that the exit polling will do anything but kill Republican turnout in the West.  Unless we get "too close to call" in New Hampshire, Obama wins. Bah humbug.

22 Even if McCain wins VA with 70% of the vote, they won't call ANYTHING for him early.

Recall, in 2004, PA was called for Kerry by 8pm, however Kerry ended up winning the state by only ~10,000 votes.

Bush wins OH by ~120,000 and it's not "called" until the next day.

noon-5pm- More people in line for Obama, more people voting for Obama than live in USA, it is a miracle!

5pm-7pm- network pundits interview each other about Obama and his upcoming administration.

7pm- based on exit polling in all 57 states, MSNBC, followed by NBC, CNN, CBS, Al Jazarra, etc. call election for for Obama

8pm- Fox calls for Obama, Colmes makes announcement on O'Reilly Factor.

9pm- network pundits go to Obama coronational rally, or sit in studio, talking about 'brave new direction for America.' Sporadic rioting,  called "celebrations."

71 I'm trying to figure out what to do tomorrow. I live in a very mixed-race neighborhood, which most of the time is fine, but if The One loses tomorrow, I'm definitely worried about being targeted. I don't have lawn signs or anything (this is MA. McCain has about as much chance here as Laura does of having her hump removed), but I can see one of my neighbors yelling, "Hey, a white guy lives there!"

On the other hand, I'm not anywhere near the city center, or any place that's considered any kind of black mecca. I suspect that riots are more likely in places like Roxbury and Mission Hill. On the other hand, it's not like this neighborhood is lacking for young black guys with a lot of free-floating anger.

If I go out for the night, I have to either take my dog with me, which limits where I can go, or leave him home, which means if anyone vandalizes the house, he's going to be traumatized (if not killed). I can go to my parents' but that's 100 miles away, which is going to make getting to work tomorrow tough (I just started a new job three weeks ago, so I don't really have the lattitude to take any time off.) I don't have any weapons in the house, aside from blunt heavy things and kitchen knives.

How serious do you think the threat of riots are? Any ideas about what precautions to take?

They're going to erupt during the polls tomorrow; my pridiction is that there will be scores of reports from and at least one incident required riot police deploying to a polling station, followed by J. Jackson and Notso Sharpton making demands for "justice".

80 I have tomorrow off, and some Guinness, so I will be joining Ace in chemically-assisted sadness/euphoria. I fully expect all the local Cincinnati radio stations to breathlessly give the poll updates until/unless McCain pulls ahead. Then the dejection & confusion will have me in ROFL mode until midnight. Although I can't help but wonder if the polls will closer earlier than they did in 2004, when Ken Blackwell kept Hamilton County's precincts (Cincinnati) open until Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) threw in the towel and quit before the Dems By The Lake knew how many votes they had to add steal lose discover in order to win the state. With all the cheaters Strickland brought into office, like that Secretary of State and her merry band of weasels, I would suggest all Ohio voters reading this to get to the polls before 6 PM.

82 Just to let you know what the Buckeye State is up against tomorrow. My dad is working at a precinct in eastern Hamilton County. (Precinct name withheld to protect the guilty.) He went in for orientation a couple of weeks ago, and they gave him his poll worker manual for 2008. It was 74 pages long, I kid you not. That's the sort of bureaucratic crap part of the state is looking at when it comes to getting the voters in, verified, balloted, and out again. (I vote in Butler County, home district of Boehner, where things are kept simpler and common sense prevails. )

83 God, I wish I could go back in time 9 months or so to when I sat right across the aisle from Axelrod on the Boston-Chicago flight just after the NH primary.  I didn't know who he was then, just that he appeared to be pretty connected to a campaign based on his cell phone conversation before we started taxiing; I didn't realize who he was until I got home & Googled the name on the front of the binder he'd been reading.

If I'd only known then what I know now, I would have -- what's the phrase again? oh yeah: "got in his face" -- and let him know my exact thoughts on him and his employer once the plane left the ground.  They probably would have made the plane land in Buffalo to yank me off, or at least dragged me out of First Class, but it would have been so worth it.

Ah, missed opportunities.

Not sure if that is best.  Not sure I will be able to sleep even with the wine...

87 Don't be surprised if tomorrow, a couple networks with the anagrams, NBC, and wire agencies like the AP, start calling several states for Obama by 11am tomorrow morning based on exit polls...they'll do this to suppress Republican votes.

as a PUMA, we found this to be the case in the primaries - with the press doing everything they could do suppress and disadvantage Clinton voters.  Psychological warfare, indeed.

Posted by: bablan at November 03, 2008 07:17 PM (a8IRc)

yeah the usual things we can expect:

1) exit polls telling us of the impending Obama landslide

2) a judge somewhere  (heavily Dem district, natch) will order the polls to stay open late

3) a network will call a state race for Obama before that state's polls are closed

4) a network will declare Obama the winner before all polls are closed

5) one or more networks will report on the returns in a way that implies an inevitable Obama win

6) Miami (OH) will beat Buffalo on ESPN2 7:30 Eastern

7) someone will spell 'apocalypse' with 2 Os

Interesting Obama breaking news on Israel -- apparently another "private chat" saying he wants to divide Jerusalem:

Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama privately expressed his support for a new Arab state within Israel's current borders, including eastern Jerusalem, during his meeting with Palestinian Authority Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah this summer.
According to a report published Tuesday in the Lebanese newspaper al-Ahbar, Obama told Abbas that he supports a PA state, and Arab "rights to east Jerusalem" as well.  The sources said Abbas and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad "heard the best things they ever heard from an American president" during the meeting. However, said sources quoted in the report, the candidate asked them to keep his declaration a secret.
