| Preview: Obama Spoke of Pushing "Bold" "Progressive Legislation" -- If He Had Democratic Majorities to Work With…Obama said he had no doubt that if the Democrats controlled Congress, it would be possible to move forward on important progressive legislation. The alternative, until then, is to be opportunistic and look for areas where he can get enough Republican support to actually get a bill passed. That, he said, “means that most of the legislation I’ve proposed will be more modest in its goals than it would be if I were in the majority party.”… “Karl Rove can afford to win with 51 percent of the vote. They’re not trying to reform health care. They are content with an electorate that is cynical about government. Progressives have a harder job. They need a big enough majority to initiate bold proposals.” Comments1

I would really like 30 minutes alone in a room with the "leaders" of the Republican party. It is beyond belief that we have come to the point that we are hoping to be able to influence the federal government by dragging our feet.

Yes reforming health care is a bold proposal. Good think most people think its a good idea. A good many Obama supporters are looking for the government to pay for everything. They are either too stupid or, in the case of a good many ACORN new voters, don't give a shit that other people will be paying for them. Talk about greedy and selfish. The last 100 - 150 years have been perhaps the most unique years in the history of mankind. The technological progress has been unsurpassed, and much of it is due to gasoline powered vehicles. Now the so-called progressives want to take that away from civilization in the name of "progress". Higher gas and coal prices takes all of civilization back to horse and buggy days. I laugh when people tell me they are progressives. I say they are idiots and fools.

"First, do no harm." Obama would induce considerable harm. A Democrat majority would make him smile while doing it. Ignore the polls. Vote and McCain and down-ticket Republicans win. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at November 03, 2008 04:12 PM (sI5Ho) 15

Remember FALN? Luis Gutierrez of Chicago is a huge Obama supporter and cheerleader for the Puerto Rican separatist group, FALN, which was behind a wave of violence and killings in the 1970s and early 1980s. I haven't seen that mentioned this campaign season.

Harry #12 - Dead on. The dems bold proposals are proposals based on the belief of failure, that our best days are behind us. You know what I see when a Prius drives past? I see failure. A belief that we have to use less of everything. You know what I see when I see a Hummer? I see success. A belief that we can have more, there are no limits, the future is unlimited.
All Obama and the socialists offer is the slow decay of civilization. They think the pie will shrink over time until nothing is left but a burned out planet. BULL****! I believe there are STILL no limits to what we can do as a country. Our Founding Fathers gave us the blueprint and we were true to it for a time. I am not giving up on it, no matter the outcome tomorrow. Posted by: jjmurphy at November 03, 2008 04:41 PM (6OPMS) 24

Two words: Ed Morrissey Read his posts. Skip comments if you must, but read Morrissey. But I'm kinda' like you, Captain Hate. I read Morrissey at Captain's Quarters and visited HotAir regularly. When he moved to HotAir, I thought it would be good for both parties. Curiously, I find myself visiting and reading less and less there since I registered when Morrissey moved. Go figure. I mean c'mon, The One will have the power to cause the oceans to stop rising and mend our souls, AT THE SAME TIME. #29 I am usually a pretty nice guy but the truth is I also have my mean side, and people are pretty lucky I am not meaner than I am. No one could ever accuse me of being selfish. If anyone wants to call me racist or think I am racist, that is their problem, not mine. I accept any person due to their quality, and quite frankly, if someone proves to me that they are a worthless individual, I am going to have precious little to do with them. Likewise, if they prove to be a quality individual then we are going to get along pretty well. That said, ideas are more important than my feelings, and if in the course of a conversation or two, someone wants to get the idea that I am selfish, mean, and racist, that is their problem not mine. We had better get used to being called names, because if we are going to engage in a war of ideas with these idiots, then we better get used to being called names, which I would guess is your point.
