| Skyrocketing Electricity Costs Are My Plan, BitchQwinn pointed this clip out in Nice Deb's post below, from the same interview I believe. I tried to add it as an update but mucked something up, at any rate it's noteworthy. You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.Typically, Obama stumbles over his own rhetoric and uses the word "money" when he means "cost". But he's quite clear on the impact... he intends to extort bucks from energy producers, who will have to pass on those costs to their consumers, which are, uh, us. This little matter of short term pain, skyrocketing electricity rates is just a small price to pay to pave the way for the coming energy utopia when we heat our homes with faerie farts and renewable rainbows. "duh" update: link added. Comments1
Thanks, Dave.
It baffles me that this statement isn't a red siren on Drudge or on the front page of every paper in the country. But even conservatives seem kinda "meh" upon hearing it. What the hell? Qwinn Posted by: Qwinn at November 02, 2008 05:24 PM (3FVXC) 2

I'm glad energy independence came to the front again, even if its only on the last day of the campaign. All day tomorrow, these two quotes should be repeated and shouted.
Not only for the sake of coal; but that he thinks he has some sort of right to bankrupt an industry because he finds it unacceptable. Posted by: lorien1973 at November 02, 2008 05:29 PM (ddGv/) Posted by: mesablue at November 02, 2008 05:30 PM (5yNaE) 11

What amazes me about these two things is that NO ONE even blinks any more at the thought of taking money away from businesses and giving it to someone else to use for research!!! What the Fuck is up with that? Who gets the benefit of the research? The patents? The ownership of processes?
So we take the money away from Exxon and give it to AlGore's company to waste on research? Yep, sounds like a democrat's plan to me. How about limiting salaries in that new venture designed to waste money? Stupid on too many levels to imagine. Isn't this the same thing that got him in trouble with Joe the Plumber? Shouldn't companies that make profits by providing desireable services be able to spend part of thier profit on research and development to (maybe, it's a gamble after all) benefit the company and their share holders? Instead they should pay money so some asshat somewhere can do research! Posted by: Mephitis at November 02, 2008 05:35 PM (17pTk) 21

"Ja-ever-notice". Sorry, a 60 Minutes flashback there.
Anyway, people should notice that all the true believers in these fabulous yet-to-be-invented energy schemes are usually liberal arts majors. They never took any serious math, know nothing about chemistry, don't know what entropy means--much less why it matters, have never even installed an electrical outlet, and don't have the slightest idea what Ohm's law (or any other natural law for that matter) means. Obama is willing to bet your entire future on somebody making an invention that he can't understand. Expect a Soviet-style purge if we can't somehow satisfy the wishful thinking of Teh One. Wishful thinking our way into abject poverty. Heaven help us all. Posted by: jc at November 02, 2008 05:38 PM (E9BMW) 28
In fact this whole subject is another Joe the Plumber moment. Take money away from companies that make money (carbon is worth money because it is the most efficient energy storage medium that is known at this time) and give it to those less fortunate. Spread the wealth, so to speak, so that folks that don't actually make money can do research too.

Watch as NBC pulls out all stops; animates a zombie to read the economic news - watch for music in back of the news - dirge for economic news - bright new day sun rising music when they talk of the only one who can save us - the Messiah. Since they have zero credibility left they might as well go straight to the propaganda and hope it is too late to call them on it. Posted by: Veteran330 at November 02, 2008 05:42 PM (ylhEn) 34

These guys never stop to figure that all energy ultimately comes from the suns rays. How we "harvest" that energy changes the "carbon footprint" hardly at all. I laughed when I found out how much CFC's are released in the making of solar panels, (of course leading to global warming!). When all good sources of energy are taxed beyond anyone's ability to pay for it, we will subsist by lighting bovine farts or something (which leads to global warming whether we burn them or not!).

Those arbitrary carbon emissions limits, and the arbitrary carbon cap and trade markets will crush Big Energy and force the dumbass American masses to embrace a renewed ideology that up until now, only the elite caretakers of Mother Gaia fully comprehend. You see, all of those wind and solar power generators will be tapped into the same grid, - at no expense to anyone, - cogenerating for the benefit of all of humanity. Let's not all forget about this statement from Barry either, which ties right into his desire to force Americans to change their ways by jacking up our energy costs:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. "That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added." -- Barack Obama "Hope" and "Change" we can believe in. Barry spreading the misery of the world around the United States of America. All kidding aside - that is EXACTLY the goal of the people he has surrounded himslef by, and the principles are in at least 1 of the books he has admitted to reading and being motivated by. Below is a link to a site that explains the Cloward - Piven Strategy. It was developed by a couple of profs in the 60s at Columbia. It's a plan for forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. Basically, overburdening the government until it collapses trying to meet the needs of all the social programs and such. Thereby causing chaos and making a window to move in and say - "Oh, my! Capitalism didn't work - now we will do it the socialist way - tut-tut". You ought to read it. I am not a college grad. Only had some college. I had never heard of this, unitl just a few weeks ago. But, it explains a lot. A heckuvalot! So, yes, IMHO he does hate our country in it's current form - and he IS trying to destroy it. I know that doesn't play well on TV, but, it sure does explain a lot.

If you reweigh polls from the internals to a more realistic geographic and partisan model according to early voting and 2004/2006 models (even giving D's an extra point or two) it looks real bleak for Obama. That -3 McCain poll is actually great news for McCain if you look at the internals. NoVa is 50% of the vote(~32 of registered voters) and all the remaining undecideds are in McCains demo. If you look at the Ras PA poll, it had Mac ahead double digits in independents. No way Obama comes close if that is the case. Posted by: David at November 02, 2008 06:56 PM (HAdov) 124

Ohm's law (or any other natural law for that matter) means.
Obama is willing to bet your entire future on somebody making an invention that he can't understand. Expect a Soviet-style purge if we can't somehow satisfy the wishful thinking of Teh One. All of this during a recession, which will only make things worse. But the worse things get the more excuse they will have to nationalize industries and take more power from the average person. I am not extremist, I am a rational middle of the road conservative but the writing really appears like its on the wall here. I have a left-wing friend who basically makes the same argument about energy prices that Obama made. He's kind of like hopey changeness in that he's an insular Manhattan-raised Ivy Leaguer and directs TV commercials, which means he works about 25% of the year and spends the rest of his days playing the pseudo-intellectual jackoff.
When I'd had enough I emailed to him, "instead of trying to completely fuck up our standard of living, economy and way of life why don't you "enlightened" fascists put your money where your mouths are and dedicate your time and money to investing in the development of alternatives? You're always telling me that all the smart people are liberals ... the people of science. Well why don't you match up all your brilliant scientists with all the fuckwits who waste all their time and money on buying power and influence in order to tell everyone else how to live and do something useful? Fund startups for left-wing Einsteins, and then when they show promise and go public you can all get rich. That's how America works. Millions of people did not risk their lives crossing the Atlantic for free healthcare and to be told they're morons for believing in God or anything else. They came for the chance to succeed or fail on their own terms. And hearing the prattle you spew is especially ridiculous coming from someone who has grown affluent by shooting TV commercials. If the free market is evil then you are Satan himself. Do you not get that? The cognitive disssonance is bewildering. So seriously, be a part of solving the problem or spare me your moral posturing." They'll spin the coal quote a million ways. Pleas to environmentalism and global warming, etc. Evil "big coal". You all know the spin. But the electricity quote goes straight to their pocketbook. "This is the first presidential candidate that has actually promised to destroy the country." Since the leadership of the UMWA (union) have already sold out the Hussein I can hear their head exploding, as a 30-06 slug fired by a coal miner hits home. As a young child I sat on the railroad tracks, holding an American flag, to prevent coal cars from loading during strikes. The easiest or fastest way to lose your life was to cross a union picket line. Like they say, 'you never hear the shot that kills you' and the old time miners could shoot a squirrel's eye out. I suspect their offspring still working in the mines can shoot as well. I"d walk across the street if I saw one of the AH UMWA leaders coming to avoid the possibility of a stray shot.

"People United to Save Society from Inequitable Economic Status" will be distraught if the "President Obama: Is Redistribution Enough?" symposium is cancelled. heh heh You know, I'm thinking that this sort of political guerrilla warfare should be a larger part of our anti-socialist struggle. Sure, we were just getting the silly out a couple of days ago, but there's a serious variant that we can use. Not just for their silly little unmoderated calendars, it would work for your local area's bulletin boards (there are several public bulletin boards in town that I'm thinking about. They're on the main drag in the busiest part of town). It could include things such as: Diluting known demonstrations by posting alternative demonstrations at the same time but at different locations/times. Divide their manpower. Announce demonstrations, lectures or classes in unsuspecting locations. Preferably locations where one must gain permission first. It'd work better if the sponsoring organization was a real activist group. Let THEM explain why they didn't get permission before running a lecture at the public library. Post multiple fake demonstrations/lectures/classes, with wildly divergent topics, but have all the contact info go to your favorite local activist organization. Overload the phone lines/staff. Announce local lectures by semi-famous people, sponsored again by your favorite local activist group. Sit back and enjoy the hijinks when the speaker doesn't show up. Sponsor dissention between activist groups. Think "Yojimbo" or "A Fistful Of Dollars". I'm sure that the moron army can come up with some even better ideas. No matter who wins the election, I think I have a mission for this year. Posted by: IllTemperedCur at November 02, 2008 11:01 PM (wjZW+) 156

hey spam- no MACs plan is not the same as Obummer's. Obummer is pushing a 100% auction format for all cap/trades on all emissions
MAC has certain waivers in place for plants until we have technology to get a reduced % of our electricity from coal, right now we get 40% from coal dude.. MAC also has serious tax credit for coal producers to get over the hump of his cap/trade implementation, Obummer does not, Obummer wants higher prices MACs plan is to do all of the above and allow our main sources to be expanded to serve as a bridge to new technology, you know the way you do when you make progress.. you dont force it by collapsing the middle clas and sending inflation skyrocketing up tio levels that cause food riots you know the wives of Paris storming the Bastille when they couldnt afford bread? that sort of thing ya dig? Posted by: Tonawanda at November 02, 2008 05:55 PM (IA49+) Exactly. I've begun believing more and more that the whole "environmental movement" is nothing more than yet another method of attacking the corporation as the most prominent bastion of individual freedom and power against government. The entire starting premise - that corporations are environmental wrongdoers - is so fucking ridiculously false it's incredible. Case in point, environmental conditions in East and West Germany; which one was a free market system? Environmental conditions in India and China, or China vs. America or the rest of the west, Russia itself is still an environmental disaster; and don't forget where Chernobyl happened. In every single instance it's demonstrable that free markets where corporations are the primary economic arbiters, rather than bureaucrats and governments, environmental standards are so much better that it's not even a comparison. And yet, corporations, free markets and capitalism are somehow synonymous with environmental irresponsibility. Hm wonder why that is.. And it begs the question of whether the entire thing was ever an actual coordinated strategy, being as how the enviro-moonbat alliance began in the 60s, in the American "peace" movement and broader left, where infiltration by socialists was quite widespread. Or is the whole thing just another mass delusion off the international left, egged on by charismatic types who likely convince themselves that the delusion is reality and is a greater calling, and the general destructiveness and irresponsibility of the entirety of the libtarded douchehole lefties?
