Blasphemers Cast out of The One's Presence

obamainthetemple.jpg

Barack Obama's campaign made a few last-minute changes on the campaign plane and oddly enough, all of those left without chairs were from papers that endorsed John McCain.

The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states -- and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president!

The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs -- and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

If Obama wins, I'd look to the Washington Times as the paper most likely to produce the next Woodward and Bernstein. (H/t: Hot Air)

2 And they did cry out, "Lord, why hast thou forsaken us? We, who have always knelt and genuflected in the proper fashion when thou dropped thy trousers, and never spat on thy rug?"

3 And The One spake unto them saying "Hate not the player, but instead hate the game; for thou and thine are as unto the female dogs in heat, and are truly ignorant donkeys. As thou serve, now hast thou been served, and let it be a lesson you remember."

4 And the followers were much chastened, and went forth bearing the mark of their shame.

Posted by: katya at October 31, 2008 10:18 AM (G3frc)

34 This is but the tiniest, faintest glimpse of what life will eventually be like for the MSM under an Obama Administration. Think "Nixon White House," only an order of magnitude more intense. There will be Enemies Lists, and Plumbers, and much of it will be aimed directly at those journalists and MSM outlets that they find to be insufficiently loyal.

And I will laugh my ass off for every minute of it. They built this hell, so if He wins, it's only fitting that they'll get to find themselves on the receiving end.

BTW, I am a journalist, and I know how these sorts of "musical chairs" arrangements work. When a campaign (or whatever organization) runs out of seats, you start cutting people off in one of several sorts of rational orders ... for example, "first in, first out" or by order of audience size (the reporter from the West Pancreas, Oregon Gazette loses her seat before the reporter from ABC News). That way neither the organizations nor the individual papers get too worked up about it ... fair is fair, after all. But tossing off two papers of second-tier reach and one of third-tier reach makes no sense at all, unless there's some other agenda at work.

And in this case, there is.

And yet all those reporters will vote for Obama anyway. So the hell with them all, and may they reap what they sow.

This man doesn't want a free press.

For all intents and purposes during this campaign, we haven't had one.  If he wins, we're going to have the joy of experiencing what a state-run media is like.  The media is the only constitutionally protected private enterprise and they've sold that trust for a pot of message.  And somehow, it's going to get even uglier.

45 This is undeniably tacky, but it's fair to note that McCain booted Maureen Dowd off his campaign plane over a month ago.  And not in her hometown, he left her in Pittsburgh.

While we giggle about that (rightfully so, she's an op-ed person and not a news reporter), from the sinister side (and I use that in the Latin sense) they will see this as not much different.

They have been invited to obtain seats on Joe Biden's plane, and given his level of interaction with the press there have to be a lot of open seats on that plane.  I can kind of see Obama inviting in Jet, Essence and other Black-oriented news outlets for the last push.  This is a bit of a big deal for the Black community to say the least.

There is no consititutional right to a seat on the Obama plane, folks.  He doesn't talk to the press there anyway, hasn't for weeks.  There is no need to talk when you're ahead in the polls, all talking can do is hurt you.  I'm sure he's really wanted to go back and receive the adulation but he's been disciplined enough to not do so.

What's going to be fun is to watch the press turn on him even before he's in office.

49 Maureen Dowd is an opinion columnist, not a reporter.  She really has no place on a campaign, especially when all she did was look for shit to spin negatively against McCain.  Who needs that shit on their campaign?  A reporter is (supposedly) there to report news, not opinion.

This is not the same as dropping Maureen off on the tarmac.  This is specifically designed to block those news organizations that are deemed to be unfriendly to The One.

Imagine the uproar if Bush had not allowed David Gregory or Helen Thomas into the press room.

Buddy in MD -- I live in Texas and people here think they can eat hot food because they eat Tex-Mex.  Tex-Mex isn't a patch on Southwestern cooking, that stuff will burn you coming and going.  It shouldn't have one of those little 'chili' icons on the menu to tell you it's hot, it should come with a consent form and a package of Tucks.  Best meal I have ever had was at the Coyote Cafe in Austin, though they had to tone down the menu and the place eventually closed.  The wife and I were fortunate enough to eat there before it got nerfed.

Posted by: buddy in MD at October 31, 2008 10:38 AM (2CkdP)

64 Yes, I get that booting Dowd was not quite the same.  Which is why I said it was not quite the same.

The Washington Times can still send reporters to Obama events.  They just can't ride on his plane.  It's a pain in the rear for the DMN and WT, and I believe it's stupid on the part of the Obama campaign, but you act as if the papers have been shut down and the presses seized.  What this has done is to make it much more difficult for those papers to cover his campaign events, but not impossible.

And yes, I believe the press will turn on Obama.  They turn on everyone.  There will be a new, positive tone if he is elected, but they've bit their lip on access to him for almost two months.  I don't believe he'll be any more accessible after the election than he is now just because the media helped elect him.  If the media wanted an accessible President they should have tried to help McCain.  I doubt Obama really believes the media has their thumb on the scale in his favor, if he does realize it then he believes it is his due rather than their choice.

Obama will not fullfill their deepest dreams and fantasies and once the press realizes this they will be forced to confront a small part of reality.  Not enough that they completely realize what a bunch of whores they are, but enough to get "Why doesn't he call me after our wonderful night together?" angry.  When they realize Obama doesn't believe he owes them anything -- then they'll turn.

Biden will be mocked endlessly in whatever manages to last of the late-night shows and the Comedy Central snarkfests.  Blame will never go to the top, it will always be unnamed advisers or, at worst, cabinet members.

84 I'm thinking this is a fit of pique because the BHO campaign is quickly turning to wet toilet paper.

85 These media guys who are in love with The One need to realize that they will never be allowed to criticize him no matter what they did to get him elected.

86 If Obama wins, I'd look to the Washington Times as the paper most likely to produce the next Woodward and Bernstein.

I'd look for an Obama administration to be a target rich environment for the next Woodward and Bernstein.

In the interest of full disclosure: I'm voting McCain/Palin.

Here's my question, why not just buy a second plane? The Obama campaign has been touting its money like a badge of honor.  It prevents giving us right-wingers ammo, plus it still gets his message out.

I mean you even have the TDMN, a “liberal newspaper,” critiquing the campaign and calling it out for giving time to Mario Lopez. And, and saying and I quote: “This should tell you something - Sen. Obama is sitting on a lead and doesn't want to risk aggressive questions by unbiased political reporters.”

Wow.

Poor form and an unforced error by the One.

Funny, Sarah Palin just recently mentioned that old saw that you don't fight someone who buys ink by the barrel.

91 Funny, Sarah Palin just recently mentioned that old saw that you don't fight someone who buys ink by the barrel.

Apparently the Campaign that buys jet fuel by the ton feels free to disregard that particular old saw.

Andrew raises a good point.  If the Obama campaign is that flush with cash, it's not as if there aren't any extra 737s in the world that can truck around more reporters.  They'll pay, they've been paying.  OTOH, $1,000 a day for three reporters is not quite ante on a jet.

It's a weasel move to kick them off, but what kind of moves do you expect a weasel to make?  Time for a front-page story about the Obama credit-card fraud from the Times or Morning-News.  Or both.

92 Wasn't there a network that admitted to having a "deal" with Saddam that they would filter the new coming out of Iraq in order to keep getting access?

B.O.'s middle name may be a coincidence but his actions are making it seem more and more prophetic.

Posted by: Chuck at October 31, 2008 12:51 PM (S+bYJ)

Um K, Mr. Ace.  I will point out that the McCain campaign has been selectively embedding reporters throughout the general campaign.  I can't recall your outrage then.

Also, who in their right mind quotes Drudge as a primary source?

95 Ahh yes, the tried and true strategy of criticism evasion.  If they're not playing by your rules, find someone who will.  No use in getting the other side of the story out.  The illuminati cultist are probably ecstatic that there will be two more media outlets for them to glue their eyes to without fear of seeing anything negative written about their Messiah.
