The Hill Picks Up $175,000 Bounty for Obama/Ayers/Dohrn/Khalidi Tape

Just noting what you already know.

They keep forgetting to add in my (well, your) $25,000.

So it should be $200,000.

Okay, Okay... Look, as this isn't my tip, I can't vouch for Director Blue's source.

I have a bit of trouble believing his source saw the tape. Though I suppose the tipster could be an annoyed reporter at the Los Angeles Times. That possibility aside, I have trouble imagining scenarios in which he'd have been shown the tape, but wouldn't have a copy of it himself.

But since everyone's emailing me, here are a couple of quotes from the tape, purportedly.

1 I doubt it will work.  200K is peanuts compared to the size of the Federal trough Barry is about to open up to his minions.

If Obama wins, I'm perfectly content to make him governing impossible because of the (potential) scandals that are waiting to explode, assuming the press stops drinking the koolaid. It's the only good scenario post election.

The campaign donation scandal. This. Etc. Etc. Make it impossible for him to govern.

Anyone else got a problem there?

Posted by: lorien1973 at October 29, 2008 06:31 PM (IhQuA)

7 Well, now that the quotes are out there, shouldn't the tape be released, so the real facts can get out?

I am sure Andrew Sullivan will be right on top of this.

8 This is interesting from the Hill article:
Grimaldi, speaking on the phone in Monaco, said that he would pay his reward out of one of his personal accounts. Grimaldi, a citizen of both the United States and Monaco, said he read about the tape in the International Herald Tribune and has heard from Israeli friends who want to see it.

9 This Dune Capital Management group makes me nervous. As I mentioned in prior thread, HuffPo researched and found that this company donated Democrat by like $24K to $4K Republican. So if this guy is a "D", the tape would never, never come out, assuming there's bad shit on there. Aren't there any millionaires reading this post? Step up, step up please.

I love the quote...

Reason we can't release it is because statements Obama said to rile audience up during toast. He congratulates Khalidi for his work saying "Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine" plus there's been "genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis."

It would be really controversial if it got out. Tha's why they will not even let a transcript get out.

11 Let's say god forbid that the McCain/Palin ticket (fill in the blanks I can't say it)....

If  Ted Stevens steps down or is unseated once he wins the senatorial elections.....

Can Palin run if special elections are held to replace him?

She can have a more impressive resume than Obama to run in 2012....(wait, that's not saying much)

15 What does the most damage: hiding the information or releasing it?

If
a) the tape is damaging and gets released, Obama's election chances are hurt, maybe fatally.

b) if the tape is damaging but not released, and not many people know about the issue, Obama walks.  How much public awareness is there about the tape?

b) if a lot of people know about it and it doesn't get released, a lot of people MAY ask what Obama is hiding.  Maybe a lot of Jooooos in Miami and NY.  It doesn't matter if it gets released or not.  Maybe.

c) If there is really nothing bad on the tape, and it gets released, conservatives suffer.  That means that actual sentient beings run the LAT.  What are the odds?

Which is the most likely scenario?  What's the over and under on this?

Why would you want her as a senator; being complicit in the mess Barry is about to create in this country, should he win?

Keep her as governor, if you want her to win. As an outsider, she'll stand a better chance than if the stink of washington is on her.

The odds of the answer being (c) are zero.  If (c) were the case, the tape would have been released as soon as the issue was raised.

33 What about a whisper campaign, democrat stlye, filled with the most outlandish things that are "in the tape". Force them to release it at the risk of the rumors being more powerful than the truth. Of course, there is the risk that the impact of the actual tape would be reduced, but it's worth a shot. If they don't want to play ball, we'll just have to assume the worst and let everyone know about "whats on the tape".

I think the McCain campaign already has a copy of the tape and knows exactly what's on it.  Otherwise they'd have surrogates demanding the tape be released rather than McCain and Palin themselves.  There'd be too much risk of a backlash if it was released and turned out to be a bust making them look like Geraldo opening Al Capone's vault.

If they have it we'll see it tomorrow via Fox or Drudge.

45 There's a reason why the S.D.S., Weatherman Underground, Communist Party of the USA and the rest of the socialist Fifth Column in America hitched their wagon to The Civil Rights Movement.

They're still playing that hand. Each and every time - and we've seen this time and again with ANY criticism of Obama - each and every time anyone has the audacity to question them or their judgement, they immediately play the racist card (or in this case, the racist, gay-bashing card).

I think Rush & Hannity & the rest of the conservative radio talk show hosts should do a 24-hour fund drive for the tape - and say they will match whatever is raised.

If that bribe doesn't work, the $ can pay for a 30-minute infomercial against Baracky on a couple of the major networks.

If none of the networks will air it, make news with that & give the $ to charity.

The publicity would be enormous.

63 What is the LAT "protecting" their source from?  If there's nothing on the tape, why the hell do they need to protect him?

I keep hearing these idiots talk about journalistic integrity in protecting sources.  Isn't that when someone in the know has uncovered wrongdoing?  A transcript could have come from anyone, the tape doesn't need to even be seen (since the viewpoint would give away the source).  This is all bullshit.  There's something there, you don't hide nothing.

35: I agree, too. I think the McCain has a copy and are playing this just like they played Obambi the week of the DNC. Obambi had the spotlight for all of 10 hours and remember we all woke up Friday morning to reports of airplanes flying from Alaska and we suddenly forgot about the Barackopolis. If it's not tomorrow, then Friday morning and the tape's released to dominate the news until the 4th.

Remember, McCain has been very consistent and clear for three months. The election will be won in the last 72 hours. I really believe they have a smartbomb to make sure it happens.

I don't want to pissing into anyone's cornflakes here, but...

Over at HuffPoo

http://tinyurl.com/5gel9s

a guy's got a PDF of a non-profit's 1998 tax return, which shows almost $500K donated to a Khalidi organization.

http://tinyurl.com/5mf694

The donor "International Republic Institute" is now chaired by.... Sen John  McCain.

I don't know whether he was formally involved with the group in 1998, but......the leftards are already saying "So what's the big deal with Khalidi?  Even McCain gave his group money".

Yes, I know that's deflecting and mis-directing away from the issue, which is what Obama said about Israel, but...

...doesn't it look like McCain has been "straight talking" in public, and doing a whole lot of pandering in private?

WE jump on the ACORN fraud.  Turns out he praised ACORN.....

WE jump on the LA Times over the tape. Turns out he pumped money into Khalidi's organization.

WE wind up saying, "Aw shit...."

Not suggesting anyone back off; we need to defeat The Number One Brother, for sure.

But McCain sure makes it hard for his own supporters to launch a frontal attack.

Even if "Tu quoque" is bad logic, it's often effective politics.

Posted by: fulldroolcup at October 29, 2008 11:17 PM (aLDzD)

Even if "Tu quoque" is bad logic, it's often effective politics.

If BO is slamming Israel and kissing up to the Palestinians in weird ways in that tape, tu quoque won't do him any good.

McCain knows what he did, yet the campaign is obviously letting Palin attack the LA Times very harshly. I'd say there's probably a lot more milk in those cornflakes than urine.

Posted by: Ampontan at October 30, 2008 01:14 AM (PsN5a)

68 The individual who turned the tape over to the LAT, in trust, of course, is hoping to avoid a pair of Windy City&#182 sneakers.

We're dreaming if we think less than a large seven or eight figure value would release the tape. The President-in-Waiting &#121 Campaign has over $600mil to keep the tape under wraps.

Tape market value decreases significantly as Nov 4th arrives, but could re-appreciate in magnitude over the next four years.

Perhaps the currently unprofitable LAT is anticipating additional future considerations to 'protect' the tape. A decent bailout, or a commitment to say, to an Internet Fairness Doctrine, keep those non due paying, editor free, circulation robbing, advertising stealing, pajama clad bloggers at bay.
